did not like it

bookshelves: didnt-finish, cheaters, m-m, prostitute

I read to Chapter 12 or 71% before giving up.

I was loving this book, the characters and how the relationship was developing between Jeremy and Noah until 43% or around there, after that I couldn’t find interest enough to even finish the book. I forced myself to keep reading hoping I would get back into it but I never did.

As the blurb says Jeremy is being targeted by the pimp, Willie (if you are like me you pretty much make the connection that Willie used to be Billy early on) Anyway the story of Noah protecting and getting to know Jeremy is great. Then Noah thinks the pimp wont stop and he needs to make a deal with the pimp. They set up a date that is on Noah’s birthday.

The date is a nice meal at Willies Condo candle light and wine and the whole date Noah is thinking how attractive Willie the pimp is and how hard he is just looking at him and all this other crap.

Here is a quote from somewhere in chapter 7 that pretty much sums up why I feel the way I do:
"Willie downed the remainder of his own wine in one gulp and rose gracefully to his feet. He stretched out a hand to Noah. "One more time, for old time's sake."

Well, there it was, the invitation Noah had hoped for as much as he'd feared. He knew it was wrong to want the beautiful bastard, but God help him, he did, unable to resist the charms that had brought many men to their knees -- literally. His willingness should have been a clue that he wasn't involved with anyone else. He may have sold his body at one time, but unless it was business, he'd never cheated. Then again, this could be considered business of a sort. For some reason he couldn't quite fathom, it still felt vaguely like infidelity when he placed his hand in Willie's and said, "I thought you'd never ask.""

So yeah then there is a long explicitly intimate sex scene between Noah and the pimp. At the end of the sex scene it is revealed that Willie is actually Billy, Noah’s First love and the guy that got Noah to be a prostitute when Noah moans “Billy” during the scene. The last thing I want to read in a book is the main character cheating on the other main character, especially with an ex-boyfriend that is also a pimp.

This whole scene ruined the book for me. Noah doesn’t seem to feel guilty or regret it at all. When he finally tells Jeremy about Billy and him being an ex-prostitute Jeremy asks if he ever sees or talks to Billy and Noah flat out lies and says no Billy isn’t around anymore, which is weird since you were just moaning his name a few pages ago.

I could go on more and about other stuff I didn’t like but I think this sums it up very well. After this scene as hard as I tried to get back into the story I just couldn’t no matter what Noah will always be a cheater now even if he says “it’s just business” and some will argue that since all Noah and Jeremy have done is kiss it wasn’t cheating but even Noah said it felt like cheating and he did it anyway.

Someone will probably tell me he did it to protect Jeremy but he wanted the sex. He gave a strip tease and he did all kinds of stuff you’d only do because you enjoy it. He didn’t even try telling Willie NO but he just readily agrees.

Some will say he had to have sex with Willie to get over Billy but if after ten years he is not over Billy having one night of sex (and cheating on Jeremy) is not going to get him over it.

yeah i was surprised i was able to keep reading as much as i did too. it kept getting worse writing wise after it too it started head hoping and having gun shootings and kidnappings and random cooks are actually ex cops and Noah is invincible he got shot fell over balcony 20 feet and gets up to run after kidnappers so I just stopped. Ruined it with the cheating whore but then took plot to crazy extremes and started head hopping which I hate too so it was easier to just mark this DNF and end my suffering

Yeah it was pretty bad scene and for me whole story just feel apart after that.

True but I can't read a story where one of the main characters cheat.:/ not my thing. I've only been able to read one story where the guy cheated and I think I was even more heartbroken than the lover he cheated on. Lol

So yeah...I try hard to avoid stories when the characters messes around with other people unless its like an m/m/m where they ALL end up together

I'm that odd one out amongst my friends that takes hatred of infidelity/cheating to the EXTREMES.... Now I understand that you may not see cheating as much of a DISGUSTING FRIGGING BETRAYAL THAT DESERVES TO BE BEATEN WITH A SPIKED BAT.... *cough cough* as I do.... BUT ...

My point is.... THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR REVEALING THAT SPOILER AND SAYING IT LIKE IT IS... I DONT EVER WANT TO WASTE MY MONEY ON A BOOK WITH A SCENE LIKE THAT !!!!! I loved your review !!! Forgive me if what I'm saying doesn't make sense coz I'm typing on a REALLY tiny screen here and my fingers are clumsy as hell !

Any ways !!! Cheating does not make this girl happy... More like murderous and your review just saved a lot of potential victims !! ;)
