“Your mind seduces me. Your body tempts me. A single glimpse of you, and I lose my train of thought.”
A castle in the woods, a sunshine girl and her broody and dark bodyguard with a broken past? What else do I need in life?
Martina is a sunshine reincarnation in human form. Mari is one of my favourite female protagonists in this series. Her character has both fierce and soft quality with a little bit of craziness and mischief. She has trauma after the things that happened to her in previous book. She was broken and sad when she first came to live in a castle with Georgio but he helped her heal some broken parts of her and it was beautiful to see them explore each other's traumatic past to heal their present self.
“She’s come alive. Flourished. Come into her power. And now she’s ruthlessly exercising it over me.”
Georgio was hot. That's all I want to say about him. He is grumpy, broody, possessive and doesn't believe in love because he thinks there's no one on this planet who can fall in love with him and his broken and tainted past but Mari proved him wrong. Everytime he couldn't control himself around her just made me giggle and kick my feet in the air because he tried so damn hard to keep her away from him but he failed so miserably in the end.
“Every object under my protection is of immense value, Martina. And you might just be the most valuable of them all.”
Georgio and Mari's chemisty was undeniably hot. They had this emotional and vulnerable connection between them where they understood each other so effortlessly. Their banter was witty and the sexual tension was palpable throughout this book. I couldn't get enough of them. I liked how their relationship progressed and how Georgio helped Mari gain mental and physical strength and how Mari loved him even after knowing all about his tragic past. They are so perfect for each other.
“I crave you, Martina.” He slides his fingers into my hair and pulls me closer to him. “I’ve craved you from the moment I saw you, and I promised myself I’d carve that craving out of me. But the deeper I cut, the deeper you burrow. I’m afraid that if I don’t stop trying to rid myself of you, I’ll end up cutting out my own heart.”
This was so much better than When She Unravels. The plot was intriguing and the romance was charming and a perfect blend of sweet, spicy and emotional moments. I enjoyed every second of it and I can't wait to read all the other books in this series....more

“We weren’t the perfect people, but we just might be perfect for each other.”
Beautifully Broken Control is one of the most emotional and beautiful stories by Catherine Cowles I have ever read. And it's also my favourite of this series and it's not going to change. I loved the story, the tropes, the romance and the chemisty between Cain and Kennedy.
➸ Kennedy is a woman running away from her past life which only destroyed and broke her. She starts living in Sutter lake, found people who loves and accepts her, made friends, built a home, but she never expected Cain to barge in her life and unravel her past with a reminder of her past life. Kennedy is sweet, thoughtful and loves a simple and grounded life after the events that led her to escape her lavish life. She is a closed off person but always finds things to feel gratitude for. I liked how she made efforts in letting people know her with her tragic past and all. She deserves all the love and support.
“I think most people feel that way. But we can’t erase our pasts. They make us who we are. And, often, it’s the ugly parts that lead to the most beauty.”
➸ Cain is a man with haunted past. He was charming in a broody and mysterious way. He kept his demons and past close to his heart, never let anyone get close enough to hurt him or hurt others but Kennedy waltzed in his life before he could prepare himself for her. He cares for people he considers his family and Kennedy is now his family too. He cared for her, he wanted to protect her, he wanted her but he couldn't let himself love her because he had too much baggage to dump on her but Kennedy loved him for who he was and she waited for him to share his haunted past with her. Cain's character development was a slow one but it was a good one.
“You have me. All of me. Even the demons.”
The romance was heartbreaking but beautiful and alluring. Kennedy wanted to hide but Cain wanted to unravel her and her pasts, he wanted to show her how she is not defined by the lifestyle she lived before she escaped. What they were never prepared for was to fall in love with those imperfections. There is fourteen years age-gap between Cain and Kennedy but they never acted like it was a weird thing or that he was too old for her which is so common in age-gap romances. The slow-burn was done so well along with the development of emotional intimacy between the protagonists. They didn't fell in love at first sight and patiently waited for each other to open up about their pasts and trauma. They helped heal each other and it was everything.
“You crawled into my fucking heart, and I know I’ll never get you out. I never want to try. I love you, Kennedy.”
I didn't expect the plot twist to be that twisted. The suspense in the end was thrilling and jaw-dropping. I loved the ending and it was perfect for Cain and Kennedy. Now only Anna's book left and I already liked her here so I can't wait to read her story. I am definitely gonna miss all these characters once I finish last book and I am not ready.
“There are moments that are so hard, you’ll think they’ve broken you, and you’ll never recover. But it’s those moments that make you appreciate the goodness, the sweetness, something so beautiful it will almost seem painful to take it all in.”
“You can’t run far, far away. You promised to take care of me while I take care of everyone else. I need you here for that.”
This was better 3.25 stars
“You can’t run far, far away. You promised to take care of me while I take care of everyone else. I need you here for that.”
This was better than previous book. I had no expectations but just wanted to read a book about a teacher and a student and this delivered that trope.
I usually have no problem with insta-love trope in Devney's books because she knows her way around this trope but I don't why it bothered me in this book. Maybe because it was more of a love at first sight and call me a cynical or sceptical or whatever but I just don't believe in this type of love. And Toren and Jennsyn had exactly that. They did developed some emotional connection over the time and that's why I liked it better in the second half of this story. The romance was fine. There is chemistry and sexual tension and all the ignited sparks between Toren and Jennsyn. But their denials and back and forth were tiresome.
“I can’t stop thinking about you.” His voice was no more than a murmur. “You were supposed to fade away.” “So were you,” I whispered.
Toren was fine. I liked him better than Ford of course. He was kind and attentive and I liked the way he cared about Jennsyn.
Jennsyn was a little lost about her future and career as a professional Volleyball player and I liked how she navigated her way through it and did what felt right to her.
“Why did you come to my game?” “Don’t make me answer that.”
Overall, Blitz was a sweet, spicy and forbidden romance story with an enjoyable plot and interesting characters. I am excited for Rush's book! Devney has been teasing us with all these little snippets in this series and though accidental pregnancy is not my type but I just want to read it for Rush. I like that boy already so much....more

“With my name on her back and my son in her arms, Miller stands in the center of the field, looking like mine.”
I am finding my happy and comfort place in this series. Each new book in this series brings so much warmth, joy and contentment in my life. It's like being wrapped up in your favourite worn out cozy blanket on chilly autumn days and it's the best feeling ever.
Liz Tomforde and men written by her have a special place in my heart. She truly writes the best contemporary romances filled with swoon-worthy moments, wholesome and emotional found family moments, a hopeful and beautiful romantic story giving us all the soulmatism vibes. She is the queen of writing green flags and I am mesmerised by her ability to create characters like Ryan Shay and Kai Rhodes, who are the definition of gentlemen. This series is one of the healthy ones I have ever read.
“You think you can keep this casual, Mills?” I nod frantically, hoping to convince both of us. His laugh is silent but rumbles against me. “Best of luck to you with that.”
Liz portrayed unexpected responsibilities in life and how sometimes some people completely change the axis of your whole life, in this case it was Max and how him coming in Kai's life was the biggest yet the best thing to ever happen in such a realistic manner. To see their father-son relationship and how they have support, love and care from everyone around them was everything. I love it when kids in books are an essential part of the story and Max is one of most important part of Miller and Kai's story. He is the one who brought them together and deepened their emotional bonding. Their mundane and special family moments together were everything, especially, those baking lessons. I have a serious baby fever because of this book now because Max is the cutest and funniest kid ever.
“This wild woman is my son’s calm. And in a lot of ways, I think I might be hers.”
➸ Miller Montgomery is struggling in her career due to the burnout so she decided to become a nanny for Kai's son, Max, and to stay close with her dad. I love Miller's character so much. She is a badass woman, the life of the party, has witty banter skills and a reckless and wild side that just made me love her even more. But mostly she is compassionate for the people she loves and she'd do anything to protect them. And the way she fell in love with Max and Kai at the time? It was everything. I love her relationship with Max and it was sweet to see her develop this motherly bond with Kai's son when all she ever wanted was an unattached life but little did she know that she was about to be caught up by two boys who'll become her whole world.
“I have a new dream now. You and Max are my dream.”
➸ Kai Rhodes is my dream man. Single dads are my kryptonite and Kai is the definition of a dad and a gentleman. The man who loves with every fiber of his being. The way he is raising his son is commendable, and though he has his self-doubts and fears, he always tries his best for Max. Kai never felt enough since he became a dad, he was always the one who helped others and it was hard for him to ask for help from others and to see him get help from Miller without asking her because she's just amazing like that just made my heart swell. I liked how he came out of his 'I am just a dad' zone and remembered who he is as a person with Miller's help. The confident and self-assured man with a thoughtful and kind personality. And the things he did for Miller? How he was always so supportive of her career and how he helped her with her recipes. I couldn't help but love him in this book.
“If she’d let me have her, she’d be mine. I love the girl, and I try to show her through my actions, but if she ever gave me the green light, I’d tell her too.”
: ̗̀➛ Kai and Miller
Kai and Miller are soulmates for sure. Two people crossing paths for a two short months and discovering the meaning of love and family together. Kai who always felt alone in his responsibilities and Miller who is always striving for next goal in her life but never felt enough but they reminded each other how important and loved they are with flaws and all. They found something special and their own together and it was amazing to see them explore their growing love and grow together as a family. How Miller helped Kai feel more than just a dad and how Kai made sure Miller realised that she is loved and cherished and that her worth is not derived just from her career and goals. Also, the angst and impending decisions related to Miller's career only heightened the tension and connection between them. I love seeing them fall for each other but mostly I loved how Miller fell in love with Max and treated him as his own child all the time. I loved how they both showed and accepted each other's vulnerable facets of life and helped each other in figuring out their lives.
“Miller,” he says, making sure my attention is on him. “If you ever decide to stop running and make a home . . . Make it with me.”
Their romance is a balance of wholesome, spicy, vulnerable and emotional moments. It was exceptional and beautifully crafted with one of my favourite tropes of all time, single dad. The found family arc that is weaved in the core of this story giving it a very nostalgic and home like feeling. The slow-burn is exquisitely builded-up with the tangible and effervescent sexual tension and growing emotional intimacy and vulnerability between the main characters. To simply say, it was pure perfection.
“You’re my favorite person, Miller, and for once I had someone for me. I had someone taking care of me. After being alone for so long, I finally had someone looking out for me.”
This review won't be complete without me writing about Monty because this man is perfect! I need Liz to write his book because he deserves his own love story. He is the inspiration for all the dads in the world because he raised his girlfriend's daughter all by himself and even though he made many sacrifices he never stopped working hard for her and raised Miller with so much love and care. It takes love and efforts to be a dad.
“She’s not my blood, but she’s my girl,” Monty says from beside me. “And she looks at your boy, who is not her blood, in the same way I look at her.”
Their love confession is one of my favourite chapter because it was so beautifully written. The epilogue was perfect. Liz writes one of the best epilogues ever. I am so excited for Isaiah's book though I was not his biggest fan in this book. But accidental marriage in Vegas is a delicious trope and in Liz Tomforde we believe. She can do wrong in my eyes.
