After a couple years of attraction on his part and antagonism on hers, they are finally forced together to save the Christmas festival for the town. I loved getting to read about them individually dealing with their family issues, job stresses, and dreams. But I enjoyed even more watching them discover what a great team they made. Also, their communicating through the shared wall was adorable.

I loved being able to get Mila's story after seeing her and Landon in Best Friends, Backups & Something More.
These two had great chemistry, and Landon especially was so sweet, taking care of her while she was sick. I especially loved the way Mila wanted to make sure her feelings weren't fleeting like her previous projects. Also loved that it was a complete story in under ten chapters.

Not only that, I was counting down to my chance to dive into the story. And it was worth the wait! I love marriage of convenience and vengeance schemes, and this book combined both so perfectly. It also combined both the romance and the comedy and was just honestly such a fun book in a stressful season. The friendship chemistry between these two was such a great foundation for the rest of their relationship.
Note to more sensitive readers: there were a few scattered instances of foul language (PG-13, I think) and innuendo between a married couple.

I loved these two. Spencer is still completely in love with his wife but is way too absent minded for his own good. And Amelia is trying to convince herself that the resentment between them has replaced the love they had at first. But for all their quarreling, they do make a good team. Even if neither are ready to drive an RV. Sparks fly and zany fun ensues; I both laughed and swooned for this one.
Note to more sensitive readers: minor innuendos and, obviously, tensions between a married couple.

ISomehow, it's almost the Christmas season already. Trying to ease myself into it with this Christmas rom-com (with a tasty looking recipe included!).
I loved the push-pull between these two. They were antagonistic personalities yet attracted physically from the beginning. Their careers and personalities were at odds, but once they clicked their jobs together, everything else seemed to fall into place or fall apart depending on the angle . . . Anyway, all around cute romance. Also, I really want to go to a Dickinson themed festival now.
Note to more sensitive readers: nothing objectionable that I can recall.

The characters have real struggles, and not just their jobs being on the line if they don't get their restaurant's numbers up- or fail to comply with the no-dating coworkers policy. The heroine has had a major past trauma from a professor, and is now caring for her very ill mother. The hero has abandonment issues and struggles with both depression and anxiety. Both are have suffered past family losses and are dealing with current family drama. The restaurant business is high-stress, so they are used to juggling so many tensions- but can they avoid the different kind of tension between them?
I appreciated the very real world aspect of this story and watching the characters as they process their pasts as they prepare for their future, especially the hero's mental health struggles. I also always love a good forbidden coworker romance, and this certainly delivered there!
Note to more sensitive readers: the couple are very physically attracted to each other. I would recommend this book for romcom readers looking for their next story this December.

I love the Christmas rom-com + spies twist (and all the other twists). Both characters were so fun and the plot went from 0 (Hallmark) to 100 (Night & Day) in a matter of moments.

This one has some of my favorite tropes: frChristmas is just around the corner, which means it's time to stock up on Christmas rom-coms, old and new. This one has some of my favorite tropes: frenemies, he falls first, and fake relationship. The characters had really great chemistry, and there was plenty of Christmas elements to go around.
Jack especially was a fun character as he learned the consequences of not communicating. Masiey's struggle is forgiveness, which makes for an interesting dynamic. I liked her and independent business woman ways for the most part, but sometimes her temper was a bit much for someone who has so much to lose in a prospective lawsuit. I've never used a treadmill with a safety key before, so I'm not sure what that's all about, but it seems like something an adult should know better than to mess with, so I was a bit mad at her. Thankfully, Jack wasn't.
These two together are absolute lovable disasters, though, and their joint klutziness was hilarious. I couldn't help but laugh. But everyone should definitely give them a half a mile radius when they are out in public together!
If you're looking for another cozy Christmas rom-com to put on your holiday reading list, this one is for you!

AThis book drew me in because of its cutesy cover; I love vector art, but this one stands out from most- and it captures the characters so well, too. Anyway, when the cover was offering ARC copies, I signed up because of the cover even though as a general rule of thumb I DO NOT read Christmas books any time outside of the month of December (it's like Christmas music).
And I'm glad I did. Watching these two former fiances interact when they are most definitely opposites . . . but also soulmates was so satisfying. Both had a lot of growing to do, and their small town was happy to lend a hand there in a Hallmark-worthy setting (but with a little more zest). There was a lot of chemistry and a lot of hijinks, and everything one could ever want from a romcom (also a lot of Christmas, but I can't appreciate that part until December, of course). Another great book to add to my favorite December books.
Note to more sensitive readers: this book was inherently Christian (yeah!), but did have some innuendos. I would rate PG.

Our heroine is tasked by her boss at a small town newspaper company to convince the big boss, come to the city to figure out why the company exists in his corporation and then shut it down, not to shut it down. The poor girl wants to give the hero a piece of her mind- which sometimes slips out anyway- but she has to play nice. And that means not playing by the rules. To try and complete this impossible mission, she catfishes him, creating amusing scenarios that had the hero so confused with everything, her so wrapped up in her own web, and me laughing so hard. And a bittersweet essence of Christmas permeates this novel, too. I really enjoyed it, and I think you will to.

Of course, how can it be anything but with the four most stubborn young, single people in any kind of proximity together?
We have the lead couple, practical Kim the business woman come to get back the charismic youth pastor, Samuel- even though they can't stand each other (despite the fact that they are both attracted to the other). Then there is Samuel's sister Jules, who takes the stubborn prize, as she tries to stay in control, and Mitch, her neighbor who once loved her... and still does, actually.
Throw all of them together onto a farm in the Australian outback where literally everything is trying to kill them and bankrupt the farm, and it was bound to get interesting. Especially as each of the characters were dealing with their own secret heart-aches: rejection, failure, surrender, and patience respectively.
It all ended just right, too. But if it hadn't ended, and just kept going- I wouldn't have minded that either. I need more rom-coms like this one in my reading list.

First she gets chased down by some enemy her sister made, and then she gets rescued by her sister's cowboy ex-boyfriend. To make matters more complicated, she's not sure where her sister is, or even where the jewels her sister supposedly stole are.
And then there's poor Liam. My heart went out to him as he fears he'll lose the last of his hearing and doubted his manhood for not being able to hear screams. Yet he's always there when women need him, whether sister, ex-girlfriend, or ex-girlfriend's sister.
But the true love story in this book is between Liam, and Jingles, the not-quite-good-enough-for-herding dog who will do anything to find his beloved master again. Even if it drives his master crazy.
And the villain- how can you be so deluded and yet so clever at the same time? Chilling.
If you love cowboys, romantic suspense, Christmas stories, sibling stories, or cute dog antics- you'll love this book too.

But there is much more beneath the surface of this tale than what one would normally expect from a rom-com. It was interesting watching the worlds of this celebrity and preacher's daughter collide, and hope they could sort out the collateral damage. Even as the hero begins to see a new side of the faith he walked away from as a child, and the heroine begins to see a life bigger than the small piece she has chosen for herself. It kind of reminded me of the movie The Resurrection of Gavin Stone in a good way, and if you like either celebrity or pastor's kids romances, you'll be sure to like this.
