Duggan has become one of my favorites and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each of the Onslow Boys and the girls they love, and while I do love each of them, my favorite thus far has been Sean Murphy from An Endless Summer, the second book in the series. Well, I have to say while I do love you dearly Sean, you are going to have to step down from the throne because Ringer has taken your place as my favorite Onslow boy thus far. While I enjoyed getting to know Ringer in the other books in the series (which are companion novels), I totally fell in love with him in this book, and I can't wait for you to meet him.
Miranda Henry is the love interest in the book and the female main character. She is a biatch to the hilt, but I really did like her a lot. She was just the kind of girl Ringer needed, and I think he is probably the only one who could handle her. That said, Ringer is also just the kind of guy Miranda needed also, and probably only one who would capture her attention, as well as probably the only girl who could handle him. Their relationship was a love-hate one filled with firey passion, and while they couldn't stand each other to start with, they also couldn't deny the chemistry and the desire for one another either. I have to say that their inner rantings as well as the banter between them was hilarious and proved to provide for one entertaining read..The other Onslow boys make an appearance as well, which was awesome, and we got to meet a few new characters also.
This is a 155 page novella, but it packs a punch and leaves you feeling totally satisfied and content with both the content and the ending, giving you more the feel of a novel. There is also a wonderful epilogue, which I also adored. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, which will be Adam and Ellie's story, and will be coming out in July. If you are a contemporary romance fan, especially of the new adult genre, then this is a book and a series that stands out among the many and one I most certainly highly recommend. ...more

The least she can do is go to his funeral. Darren Ackwood is the town hottie that women can't resist, he has the reputation of being a playboy and a bit of a man-whore, yet he is still the most beautiful man Kayla Turner has ever seen, even if she can't stand him. When Darren sees Kayla, he is a bit flabbergasted by her beauty, but then he remembers the things she has done, or the things "he thinks" she has done, and feels the same way about her. Kayla and Darren have a lot more in common than they know or want to admit to, both flat broke, both have been dealt a bad hand in life, and both of them are desperate, which is how end up in their present situation, thanks to the late Mr. Turner's stipulations in his will. They find themselves stuck with each other, literally, and things really begin to get interesting and then some.
Perfect Kind of Trouble is a delightful and funny story that also has it's sexy and serious moments in the mix. I really enjoyed getting to know both Kayla and Darren's characters. They both make assumptions about one another that aren't true, and in the process of "the quest" Kayla's father has sent them on, they come to find out who the other really is, both realizing that their feelings for each other are changing. The banter between these two and the situations they find themselves in will keep you laughing, while the romance has just the right amount of sizzle. Perfect Kind of Trouble can also be read as a standalone. If you enjoy contemporary romance, then Perfect Kind of Trouble is something you should consider checking out. ...more

Though not as intense and a bit slower paced than the first book, I really enjoyed Surrendering to Us a lot. Rory and Lucah are such likable characters, the kind that tend to really grow on you, and not only is the chemistry between them sizzling hot, but there is a lot of humor, they really love each other and have so much fun together, and I loved seeing what develops into a rock solid relationship. They are both just so personable that you can't help but get attached to them. Now a couple, they still have to hide their relationship at work because of a no dating policy the company has, which proves to be quite interesting at times. When someone from Lucah's past surfaces, Rory has some insecurity issues to "deal" with and Lucah does just that - and he deals with it in a very hot, "fan your face" way. Let me say up front, I was really not looking forward to the dreaded "love triangle" that seemed inevitable and was so happy that despite the apparent "set-up" that Chelsea Cameron had going on, Rory and Lucah again proved to have a solid relationship, and I fan my face just thinking about how clearly solid Lucah demonstrated it was to Rory.
Meanwhile, Lucah's brother Ryder is back in the picture and there is a lot of drama going on with him, and of course there is Sloane, Rory's BFF and former roommate, now next door neighbor, who I really came to like in book one and even more so in book two. There is plenty of drama going on with Ryder, and the stress of it takes its toll on Lucah, Rory, and the whole gang, but there is also a lot of good that comes out of it and I really enjoyed seeing the story develop around him, his relationship with his brothers, and his budding relationship with Sloane. I look forward to seeing where Chelsea Cameron is going to take that as the series progresses. The characters are well written and very easy to connect to, as are the secondary characters. Though a little slow in the beginning, the pacing worked for what took place during the course of the novel and completely kept my interest throughout the book.
Overall, Surrendering to Us is a great second installment in what is proving to be a romantic, sexy, and humor-filled story with great characters, hot romance, and an interesting plot. If you are a contemporary romance fan, then the Sweet Surrendering Series is one I would recommend adding to your TBR list.
Quotes: He moved away from me and picked up the briefcase. I couldn't imagine what he could have in there, but he popped it open and pulled something out. Sticky Notes. And a Pen. He held them up so I could clearly see what they were. Then he came back over. He leaned his head down and wrote something on one of the notes. He held it up for me to see. MINE. I just discovered Jill Shalvis over the last few months and have quickly become a huge fan of her books. Once in a Lifetime is her latest installment I just discovered Jill Shalvis over the last few months and have quickly become a huge fan of her books. Once in a Lifetime is her latest installment in the Lucky Harbor Series, and actually the first book I have read in this particular series, and I loved it. The book reads like a companion novel, and while several of the characters in the book were also in previous novels, it isn't necessary to read them in order. That said, I fully intend to read them all.
Ben McDaniel has returned to Lucy Harbor 5 years after losing his wife, having spent that time working in some very dangerous places while trying to deal with his grief. Aubrey Wellington has a reputation for having been the town's wild child, and has experienced her share of trouble, not all of which was her fault. After getting out of a bad relationship that turns into somewhat of a scandalous story in the small town of Lucky Harbor, she finds herself in the strangest of places with a new-found desire to right the wrongs of her past, part of which involves Ben McDaniel, her high-school crush. Ben McDaniel has been warned that Aubrey is trouble, yet he is unable to stay away from her. As fate would have it, these two find themselves kind of thrown together by circumstances and situations, and they can't deny the intense chemistry that is between them. Neither is looking for a relationship, yet with the thick sexual tension that seems to draw them to each other, they give into their desires, with many humorous and entertaining situations occurring during the process. They both make it clear that what they have is strictly physical, but when the lines between love and "just sex" begin to blur, things begin to get complicated. After a decade long secret is revealed, everything that has developed between them begins to fall apart. Will the engineer and the book store beauty queen overcome the drama that threatens to destroy them?
I loved both Ben and Aubrey's characters. He is the broody, silent, alpha male type that exudes sexiness to the point it feels almost sinful just to look at him. Aubrey's character is fun-loving, snarky, and outspoken, completely opposite of Ben, yet the two compliment each other beautifully. I loved the banter that occurs between them and the romance is sizzling hot. The story is fast paced, entertaining, and kept my attention the entire time. I enjoyed the secondary characters also, and I look forward to going back and reading their stories also. Overall, I found Once in a Lifetime to be a very enjoyable contemporary romance that will make you smile, laugh, root for the characters to find their happily ever after, and is something contemporary romance fans are sure to enjoy. ...more

These two teenage sweethearts fell in love, were forced into early adulthood by a teenage pregnancy, torn apart by lies and misplaced responsibilities, then reunited five years later, despite circumstances that made it seem next to impossible for that to happen, desperate to recover the family and the love they lost years ago. Now together, Cassie and Josh face the battle of fighting to be able to get back their son Lucas, the challenges of Cassie's career as a singer, and the difficulties presented by Josh's career on Capitol Hill. Circumstances like these would challenge the strongest of couples, so needless to say, Cassie and Josh's love, their fragile relationship, their commitment, and their resolve are tested to the extreme in Fast Forward. They not only have to face the past and the circumstances and relationships from it, but they have to go through many difficult obstacles and roadblocks to adopt Lucas, while learning how to trust and love each other again. It is a definitely a rocky road, but nonetheless one that they are determined to travel.
I loved watching how Cassie and Josh's characters developed and matured in Fast Forward. It is obvious they love each other, yet each questions the other's love for them. Past relationships threaten to rise up and destroy them, and I was really pleased with how the each handled this. They go through so much together trying to get Lucas back, both trying to be strong, while learning to recognize their faults, and learning to be what the other person needs them to be. Lucas is the glue and the goal that cements them together, but they must go back to their roots, back to their beginning, and find that love is the foundation upon which family, relationship, and futures are built upon.
I love Marion Croslydn's writing. She has the ability to draw you into the story enabling you to identify with the characters and experience what they are going through right along with them. Fast Forward is told from both Cassie and Josh's point of view, which I loved. For me, the story had my attention from beginning to end and I was rooting for these two to find their happily ever after.
I loved how Marion Croslydon ended the story and brought everything together. There is also a beautiful epilogue, which is something I adore in a book. Fast Forward is a wonderful conclusion to Cassie and Josh's story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you love contemporary romance, then the Second Chances Series is one that I would definitely recommend adding to you TBR list. I can't wait to see where Marion Croslydon takes the story in future installments as we read the stories of some of the secondary characters.

It is very dark and raw with characters Song of the Fireflies is a lot different that some of the other things I've read so far from J.A. Redmerski. It is very dark and raw with characters that are flawed and far from perfect. Elias and Bray's story is hard to read sometimes because it is so emotional and heartbreaking. It is told from both Elias and Bray's point of view. I really liked Elias, and Bray did grow on me. One thing I did like was that the two stuck together in spite of everything they went through. J.A. Redmerski addresses suicide, drug use, and the inner demons that plaque and effect the characters. I don't think this story is going to be something that everyone will enjoy, but I do think there will be people who embrace Bray and Elias and will really like it. I was somewhat in the middle. It isn't one of my favorite works by this author, but it was good for the most part, and I was really pleased with the ending, despite the emotionally rough road that I had to take on the journey. ...more

I've never, and I mean never liked mafia movies, books, or T.V. shows, but I can honestly say that I absolutely love Rachel Van Dyken's Eagle Elite Series. Entice picks up where Elect leaves off, and whereas the first book "Elite" gradually eases you into the mafia aspect of the story, with Elect delving further into this world, Entice is full-blown nail-biting drama from beginning to end. I read it in one sitting because I simply couldn't put it down. That said, if you're also a romance lover, as I am, never fear, because Rachel Van Dyken delivers in that department big time, making you swoon, sweat, and sigh.
One of the main things that makes this book and the entire series so appealing is the characters. There is Nixon Abandonato who you will love, hate, love to hate and adore as the series progresses, and his girl Trace Alfero, who is from another one of the mafia families. The first two books center more around these two. Then there is Chase Winters, who has been one of my favorites over the course of the series, and let me say oh how I loved Chase in Entice. Chase is also a member of the Abandonato family, and this book centers upon his and Mil's story. Mil is the new leader of the De Lange family and she is as tough as nails, with a soft spot where Chase is concerned. There is Tex, and there are some surprising developments as far as he is concerned, as well as Nixon's sister Mo. The stage has been set for hopefully a romance between these two in the next book, but Rachel Van Dyken is full of surprises, so we will have to wait and see. There are also quite a few other secondary characters that all play meaningful roles in the story and are very well written and integrated in so that even though there are quite a few characters, everything just meshes, so you feel like you know and have a handle on them all, as well as what is going on with them.
Entice is told from Chase, Nixon, and Mil's points of view, with even a little surprise from Tex, and I just love reading a story told from a male point of view. With twists and turns you don't see coming Rachel Van Dyken will keep you on the edge of your seat as you root for these characters and hold your breath through some intense situations, while delivering the romance that we all crave and love. The ending leaves you satisfied, while wanting more at the same time, even giving you a glimpse into the next book in the series, which I am dying for already. If you are looking for something different, fresh, gripping, and romantic, then the Eagle Elite Series is a must read and one of those series you will want to slap yourself for not starting sooner. ...more

Leighton and haven't read anything she's written so far that I didn't love, and All The Pretty Poses proves to me once again what a fabulous author she is. I loved Hemi and Sloane's story in All The Pretty Lies, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, which is Hemi's brother Reese's story. It is a more of a companion novel, so you don't have to read All the Pretty Lies First, though I would definitely recommend it, because if you don't, you will be missing out on a treat. Where as Hemi was the tattooed bad boy, Reese is the rich, arrogant tycoon who is almost too hot to handle. He is used to getting his way always, and he can charm the pants off anyone, and that is pretty much all he wants or has time for when it comes to women, that is until Kennedy Moore suddenly pops back into his life and rocks his world. The last thing Kennedy expects one night while working is to look up and lock eyes with the man who broke her heart 14 years ago. Nonetheless he's there, and winds up making her an offer she can't refuse - work for him for the summer and get a chance at her dream. The question is, can she survive the summer with her heart still intact?
Kennedy is really a simple girl that doesn't need all the things money can buy. All the bells and whistles aren't what moves her. She also isn't the same vulnerable girl she was 14 years ago, and Reese with all his god-like charm has to work hard to get her to open up to him again. The chemistry between Kennedy and Reese is smoking hot, and what starts out as a game for Reese soon becomes so much more. I loved the romance in All the Pretty Poses, as well as the story itself. The setting is beautiful, and I also loved the main characters, as well as the secondary ones, all of which added a lot to the story. We even get to see a little bit of Hemi and Sloane, as well as Sloane's brother Sig, who I really liked and I hope he gets his own story.
As always, M. Leighton's writing flows beautifully and I was captivated with the book from beginning to end, enjoying ever minute of it. I actually read it in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down. I am usually pretty good at figuring out what is going to happen in a book before the ending, but I have to say, M. Leighton surprised me in this one with a couple of things I didn't see coming, which was a delightful surprise. I also loved the ending and M. Leighton gives us a wonderful epilogue, which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you are a contemporary romance fan, then All the Pretty Poses is something I would definitely recommend checking out. ...more

II absolutely love Travis Maddox and I've been on the edge of my seat, anxiously waiting on another oh so hot Maddox brother's story, Trenton Maddox. I have two words to begin with about this story "HELL YEAH!!!!" I knew when I read a little bit about Trent in the previous novels, I was going to like him, and I not only liked him, I totally loved him. Beautiful Oblivion is Trent and Cami's story, and it takes place around the same time frame as Beautiful Disaster, so you get to see bits and pieces of Travis and "Pigeon" along the way, which served to remind me how much I loved the original story.
Trent has a reputation as a lady's man and is a bit of a man-whore like his brother Travis was, and though he doesn't fight, like Travis does for money, he can throw down with the best of them. Oh, and did I mention he is a tattoo artist and has a plethora of his own hot tats also. A tragic event has left him riddled with guilt, and even though he tries not to show it, it has effected him big time. When Trent walks into The Red Door, everything changes for him when he see's Cami sitting by herself. Cami is a very independent and strong young woman who has her own secrets, and they are big ones. I really liked her. She works at The Red Door, and also works a the tattoo parlor where Trenton works, while managing to attend a few college courses now and ten again. Cami also has a boyfriend, which she makes clear to Trent, but Trent is a Maddox and doesn't take no for an answer. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. Even though there was undeniably hot chemistry between them, their relationship was built upon friendship, something I really enjoyed. Despite his reputation, Trent is such a great guy all the way around and he and Cami are perfect for each other, but will all that change when Trent finds out the truth about what Cami has been sworn to secrecy about.
The romance is this novel is outstanding, as is classic for Jamie McGuire, and the story itself is beautifully written and captivated my attention from beginning to end. If you read it for nothing more than the twist you find out about at the end, and OH.MY.GAWD., what a twist it is, you will be glad you did. I am usually pretty good about figuring out the twists in books, or at least have a good idea about it, but I was completely blind-sided by the twist in this book and I cannot wait for you to find out what it is. Magnificently done Jamie McGuire. That said, I totally loved Beautiful Oblivion and I would encourage you to hurry and get your copy as soon as you can. ...more
4.5 Stars Marquita Valentine has become one of my favorite authors and I have thoroughly enjoyed her Boys of the South Series. Wish For You is the four4.5 Stars Marquita Valentine has become one of my favorite authors and I have thoroughly enjoyed her Boys of the South Series. Wish For You is the fourth book in the series and it is Wyatt and Lacey's story. We originally met Wyatt and Lacey in the first book of the series, Live For You. Wyatt and Lacey have been best friends for years, and they have been secretly in love with each other almost as long. Things stayed platonic on the surface until Wyatt came home from a tour of duty and Lacey couldn't help but kiss him. That one kiss changed all the dynamics in their relationship. Then Lacey is faced with an ultimatum instigated by someone close to Wyatt......stay away from him or lose your job and more. Lacey believes she isn't good enough for Wyatt, while unbeknownst to her, Wyatt feels the same way about her. The question is can they get past all their issues and find that love they are both trying so hard to deny?
Wish For You is told from both Lacey's and Wyatt's point of view, which I loved, because it enabled you to get inside both characters head and experience things through their perspective. Both Lacey and Wyatt struggle, Wyatt with the aftereffects of his tour in Afghanistan and Lacey with her panic issues, both feel like they're messed up freaks, and both cope with their issues in different ways, some of them very unhealthy ways, especially where Wyatt is concerned. Overall, I really liked Wyatt's character, though he did have to earn that. He said and did some things in the first part of the book that really made me angry with him, even if Lacey was pushing him away. Lacey, you can't help but want to protect her. She is very naive, except when she has her skates on and is in the roller derby rink. One thing that I liked about her was her honesty, which sometimes made her come across as very blunt, but it makes her the person she is. As far as the other characters, well we get to see glimpses of Cole and Rae, and even more of Beau, and some of Parker. I can't wait for Beau and Parker's stories.
I really enjoy Marquita Valentine's writing, and true to form she has delivered another great story in Wish For You. Not only does she provide her readers with a really great romance that is hot and sexy, she also addresses some really serious issues and their affects, shedding light and bringing awareness to them.
I read the entire book in one sitting because I just didn't want to put it down. This friends to lovers story is romantic and has both really happy and really sad moments. The chemistry between Wyatt and Lacey is sizzling, and I loved the way Marquita Valentine was able to portray Lacey's innocence along with her inner vixen at the same time. Though my favorite couple is still Cole and Rae, Wyatt and Lacey's story runs a close second, but then again, I have truly enjoyed all the books in the series and the characters that live inside them immensely. Wish For You and the entire Boys in the South Series is a must read for New Adult Romance fans and something I thoroughly enjoyed and most definitely recommend. ...more

This mystery/thriller is not only captivating, keeping you guessing and questioning until the very end, but is also provides a refreshingly different type of story in the YA genre. Riley and her best friend accidentally stumble on some information regarding Riley, and it causes her to question everything in her life. Riley's character is likable, though I did want to shake her a few times. Shelby, her best friend was kind of aggravating. Then there is JD, the bad boy who brings the romantic edge into the story, though the romance is minimal in the overall plot of the story. There are several twists and turns that fueled the thrilling and suspenseful aspect of the story as the mystery unfolds.
While I didn't like See Jayne Run as well as I did Truly, Madly, Deadly, overall, it was a good read and something that YA and even MG thriller/mystery fans would probably enjoy. ...more

When I first heard about Broken and read the synopsis, I was intrigued because it was based on the author's own experience as a physician, as well as being based on a condition called Long QT, which she had diagnosed in her own niece. Those two things combined with the fact that the book is labeled a YA thriller quickly captured my attention. I was also a bit leery because I was afraid it might be a tearjerker because of the gravity of the heart condition that the main character had. Let me just say I was surprised on all accounts. While the disease is based on the condition CJ Lyons diagnosed in her niece, she has also noted that Scarlet, the main character, is nothing like her niece. With that in mind and knowing that this was a fictional story, I started the book anxious to satisfy my growing curiosity.
Scarlet's story is one that is heartbreaking and tragic, but it's not a tearjerker type story by any means, which for me was wonderful because I don't like those type of stories. They tend wipe me out and give me an "emotional hangover" that can last for days, so I can only take them in small doses. Scarlet is 15 years old, has a diagnosis of Long QT, a life-threatening heart condition, has spent the majority of her life in and out of hospitals, and is now for the first time in her life going to school...high school.... starting 3 weeks late. This fact alone makes her the center of attention, and on top of that she has to carry a defibrillator everywhere she goes in a rolling backpack. What was more heartbreaking to me than the actual condition Scarlet suffered from and the effects thereof, was the way that she was bullied and picked on by some of the kids at school. It was absolutely awful. I know kids can be mean, but these kids, one in particular, were just plain evil. Then there were some other kids that were in her peer mentoring group, and one really sweet guy in particular who was in Scarlet's class, that were really awesome. Despite their own issues, they had her back and were really good friends to her. Her mother, who is actually her stepmother because Scarlet's mother died shortly after her birth, is the school nurse. Scarlet's dad travels most of the week and is only home on the weekends, so her stepmom has been the one to always take care of her. I actually didn't care for her at all and found her to be demanding and overbearing, but she does seem to have Scarlet's best interest at heart, or does she?
Despite the bullying and the bad experiences, Scarlet does have some good times also. She's never had friends before, so this is new to her, and she finds she really likes it. She also experiences her first crush and what it feels like to have a guy interested in you, and she learns what it feels like to put your friends needs before your own. As the situation escalates and things get more threatening for Scarlet both with her health and with the bullying, a class project she is working on with her friend and one of the guys she is crushing on, Tony, simultaneously brings to light some very disturbing information. Scarlet is in more danger than she realizes, and she isn't the only one. Now it's up to her and her friends to expose and stop this dangerous and potentially life-threatening conspiracy they've discovered. They race against time and a horde of other obstacles to do just that, but will it be too little to late?
I enjoyed Broken. It took me a little while to get into the story, but once I did, I liked it. Scarlet was a bit naive, but given her situation, that was understandable. There are some really important social issues that many teens face that are brought to light in this book, in addition to the bullying, and incorporating them into the novel was an excellent way to bring awareness to them. There is the hint of romance, as well as the mystery and conspiracy that is unveiled, which adds the thriller component to the story. I also was glad to see that the author included what happened with Scarlet and her family in the aftermath of everything that happens, giving you a glimpse into the future and what occurs after the climax, which I enjoyed and thought was a great way to end the book....more

I knew I loved Ednah Walters' Guardian Legacy Series, so I really wanted to start this one, but what I didn't expect was how much I was going to love it. In Runes book one, we meet Raine Cooper, Eirik, and Cora, and the amazingly hot Valkyrie Torin St. James, with his British accent, leather jack, riding a Harley, totally badass, and oozing with hotness. Raine and Torin's story continues in Immortals (Runes #2), and gets even better. I really didn't think Ednah Walters could top it, and when I began Grimnirs I was looking forward to it and hoping it would be as good as the first two books. Let me tell you, Grimnirs met and then surpassed my every expectation. I honestly think it is my favorite book so far. Grimnirs is Cora's story. I always liked Cora, but I really loved her in this book and so enjoyed getting to see a whole new side of her. On a hotness factor, I never thought any of the other characters could even touch Torin St. James, but OMG, I kid you not, Echo absolutely blew me away. Echo is a Grimnir (not to be confused with the Grim Reaper). He is as badass as badass can get. He's cocky, hot as hell (no pun intended), has a smile that will cause you to melt in a puddle, and can charm your pants off, literally. I'm not even sure if sex on a stick really does him justice. He wears a leather hooded duster and is decked out in leather from head to toe, and even has a scythe and everything. He's also crazy about Cora, fiercely loyal, and will do anything to protect her. There is a lot more to Echo that meets the eye and I really enjoyed getting to know him and his story. The chemistry between Echo and Cora is comparable to a lightning bolt, yes that intense, and I loved the romantic aspect of the novel.
We also get to see some of the other secondary characters we've come to know from the previous installments, Andris and Ingrid play a big part, and of course Eirik makes an appearance. II have to say that by the end of the book, I was so impressed with Eirik and the way he had changed. I cannot wait to read his story and see where Ednah takes his character in future installments. We also meet some new characters in this book as well.
If you aren't familiar with the series, The Runes Series is heavily rooted in Norse Mythology incorporating it into a modern day setting. Ednah Walters provides definitions at the beginning of the book for all the terminology and what it means, which is really a great asset. I have read several books dealing with Norse Mythology over the past year or so, and I have to say that I love Ednah's take on it and the way she ties it in with the present and blends it all together, better than anything I've read thus far. She does an excellent job of taking the paranormal aspect and mixing it in to a contemporary setting with some great romance, and provides an action-packed story that you won't want to put down. I was so happy to hear that she has big plans for this series, which include more of the secondary characters getting their own books, and we we will get to see more of Raine and Torin in SEERS, which is expected to release in Spring 2014. I can't wait. One other thing I wanted to mention is that this is labeled as a YA paranormal romance, and it is, but in my opinion, it also crosses over to an NA novel, so fans of both age groups would really enjoy this. Grimnirs has some of the steamiest scenes we've seen so far, and I absolutely loved that. If you are a paranormal romance fan, you'll want to check this out for sure, and even if you aren't, I think this is something that would appeal to you also. Great book, great series, and I most definitely recommend it. ...more

The plot thickens, the romance gets steamier, and things get even more dangerous as the mystery continues to unfold. There is a love triangle in the book, but this isn't your typical love triangle, so don't let that fact deter you from reading it. The chemistry between Trace and Nixon is off the charts, and it becomes obvious just how much they love each other. It also became obvious the depth of Nixon's love for Trace and what he was willing to do and to sacrifice in order to keep her safe, even if it means placing her in the arms of his best friend. Chase, the best friend, struggles with what is going on, including his loyalty to Nixon and his feelings for Trace, which makes things even more complicated. Given only a short time to find the answer to a crime committed years earlier, Nixon is forced to hatch a plan that could not only destroy him, but could cause him to lose Trace forever.
I loved Chase, I really did. He's a great guy, but I really came to love Nixon in this book. The depth of his love for Tracey was obvious and the fact that he was willing to sacrifice his own happiness for hers, made me love him all the more. So, that said, I am team Nixon, but I do love Chase and I want him to be happy also. As the saga continues in Elect, the depth of the conspiracy reaches a whole new level, trusts are broken, friends become enemies and enemies become friends, danger and suspense reach an all-time high, and the depths of love and friendship are tested to the core. Elect is filled with plenty of passion and romance, as well as betrayal, murder, and mystery, with glimpses into a world of crime that most can only imagine. Rachel Van Dyken has caused me to totally fall in love with this story and what it involves, a type of story and a world that I never thought I would be interested in, and now I am totally captivated with it. I absolutely loved Elect and the Eagle Elite Series, and I most definitely recommend it, but I warn you, hold on because you are in for quite a ride. ...more

Leighton fans prepare yourself for another beautiful, sexy, suspensful and gripping read, because that is exactly what she delivers yet again, in All the Pretty Lies, something that has quickly become her trademark. I haven't read a book she's written yet that I didn't love. Sloane Locke has just turned 21 years old. She has grown up in a house with three older brother and a dad who are all cops and she loves them dearly, but they are the epitome of overprotective on a massive dose of steroids. They love her and treasure her, but at the same time have smothered her, kind of putting her in a tower like Rapunzel, and despite their good intentions, Sloane is ready to do more than just let down her long hair.....she is ready to spread her wings and fly, enjoying life to it's fullest as long as life lets her, with no regrets. One of the first things she does is go to get a tattoo, which to her has much deeper meaning than anyone knows. What she doesn't expect when she steps through the doors of The Ink Stain is to meet Hemi, the hottest guy she's ever seen. He's mysterious, a bad boy, oozes with sexiness, and has eyes that cause her to melt her into a puddle and seem to see down into the depths of her soul. What she doesn't know then, but soon comes to realize, is that the day she set foot in that tattoo parlor, the day she met Hemi, her life changed forever, and as she spreads her wings to fly, this enigma of a man has the power to transport her to the moon and back, and possibly shatter her heart along the way. He doesn't make promises, but that is what Sloane wants....really something that she has lived by, always believed, and is quick to state....."don't make promises you can't keep."
“I don’t want promises. Most of the time, promises are just pretty lies. They’re words designed to make others feel better. But in the end, they’re still just lies. Disappointing lies. So don’t worry about making me promises. I’d rather have your truth”
The last thing Hemi needs is a distraction. He has a purpose and a plan and it doesn't include a young beautiful girl who tempts him in ways he has never experienced with a combination of innocence and sexiness that pours off of her like hot molten lava, destroying his will and his ability to resist her. Nevertheless, he knows he's on a mission and has a goal he needs to accomplish, and most importantly, he reminds himself, is that he doesn't do relationships. Ever.
"......I’ve always preferred experienced women. The wilder the better. I’ve never taken a girl’s virginity, nor do I want to. I want a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it, and one who knows where the door is before I get out of the bathroom."
Hemi ends up training Sloane to be a tattoo artist, something she takes to easily, being an artist already. She justifies it by being able to use the experience as a project for one of her classes. He justifies it because Sloane provides a link to something he needs to find out. Hemi has deep, dark secrets. They both have secrets, and they both know the other has secrets, but they never push the issue, somehow silently understanding, accepting, and respecting that about each other - somehow knowing that those secrets have the power to destroy. Hemi tries to warn Sloane to keep her distance. He warns her that he isn't good for her, but Sloane wants him more than anything she has ever wanted, and try as he may, Hemi can't continue to tell her no. He doesn't make her any promises, but he tells her what he can and can't give her, making it clear what he is capable of.
“I may not be able to give you breakfasts and promises but I can give you pleasure like you’ve never even dreamed of. That will have to be enough”
To say they have chemistry is an understatement. When they are around each other it is intense, more like the surface of the sun kind of hot. Serious threats and danger strike close to home, threatening Sloane's family and threatening her, while at the same time setting up the stage to spend more time with Hemi. She knows that she is falling for him....has fallen in love with him, but as the secrets that have been hidden slowly come out, they threaten to destroy the hope of anything these two could have together. Truth hits Hemi like he's been run over by a Mack truck going 100 miles per hour, the truth that he has tried to deny to himself, the truth of how he really feels about Sloane. Hemi has to decide if he is willing to go against everything that has been ingrained into him, everything he's striven to accomplish, and let Sloane in, laying the truth out for her about how he feels, and about the part of himself that he has kept hidden, knowing that he will probably lose Sloane forever. What he doesn't realize is that there is something much bigger than his secrets that threatens to take Sloane from him, and when faced with that, will he be willing to let go of the past and do whatever it takes to have her?
Is the story good? Oh yeah, it's very good. Did I like it? You'd better believe it. Should you read it? Abso-"frickin"-lutely (I know that is not a word, but if you read the story you'll catch the pun). Beautiful story, beautifully written, and thoroughly enjoyed. What more could you ask for?
More favorite quotes: "Sarah...: I roll my eyes. "You really should've been a guy." "Why?" Because I'm honest? "Maybe." "Well, that's why I'm not a guy. Guys aren't honest. They hide things from you and tell you what you want to hear. I don't do that. Therefore God made me female. By far the superior gender." "You really should put that on a mug." "I'm working on it. I'm working on it."
.....I can't even finish the sentence. "You said you'd give me the truth, but all I got were your pretty lies, you bastard."
.....I cherished them. I cherished him. I cherished lies.
"I've never wanted to believe one more than I do right this minute. So tell me. Tell me all the pretty lies. Tell me everything will be okay." ...more

I fell in love w I am a huge fan of Courtney Cole's and I love everything I have read that she has written, especially The Beautifully Broken Series. I fell in love with Pax in If You Stay, then Gabriel captured my heart in If You Leave, and Dominic Kincade won me over in Until We Burn and Before We Fall. Pax was a bad boy and stole my heart, but I really didn't think they could get too much badder than him until I met Dominic. When Courtney says Dominic does bad, bad things, it's kind of an understatement. Dominic takes bad, bad things to a whole new level. I have always been drawn to the bad boys in novels, always, but to be honest, when I first met Dominic, he intimidated me and was kind of scary, yet like a moth to a flame, I was drawn in deeper and before the novel ended, he completely won me over. I have to warn you that Dominic is probably about as dark as they get. He's depraved, kinky, dangerous, emotionally shut off, he likes to watch, and he definitely does bad, bad things, so be prepared before you start because that is what you will see, but hold on, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and that light has a name.....Jacey. All Dominic has to do is to choose to "go towards the light," to find his key to saving grace. We first met Jacey in If You Leave, and I really liked her but honestly, I thought she was a little "dizzy and unstable." But, in Before We Fall, I totally loved her and gained a whole new respect for her, for what she has been through, for her strength, for her loyalty and her willingness to love and accept unconditionally. Don't get me wrong, she's a messed up character, far from perfect, but that is also what makes her real, and she was a fantastic heroine in this novel.
We also get to see some of the characters from If You Leave, Jacey's brother Gabe, Madison, and Brand, which is something I love about the series. Each novel could really be considered as a companion novel and read out of order as standalones, but when read as a series, you develop a special connection with the characters and it is really satisfying seeing where they are and getting glimpses into their lives. We met some new characters in this book also, Sin Kincade, Dominic's brother, who definitely left an impression on me and I really hope he is getting his own story. There is also another brother, Duncan, his sister Fiona, and best friend Chris, as well as several others, all of which play interesting and integral roles in the story. When I try to think of a way to best describe Domnic and his brothers, I think Jacey can do that better than anyone. At one point in the story, and this is a quote from the book from Jacey (this is not spoilery ), She relates..... I think back to the day a couple of weeks ago when Dom, Duncan, and Sin argued over a name for the new restaurant chain that they're launching together. They'd bickered for hours until I chimed into the conversation. "How about The Dirty Dog? Because that is what you three are. Dirty f***ing dogs. Perverted as hell." They stared at me in shock, then had a toast to the name, because they knew it fit them like a glove.
I really enjoyed Before We Fall. Dominic and Jacey have quite a story and a lot happens to them and with them during this book. It's quite a ride, so hold on to your hats and prepare yourself. I think it should have one of those warnings like before you get on a ride at theme park that says, "This is a high speed roller coaster ride that includes sudden and dramatic acceleration, climbing, tilting, dropping, and backwards motion," because that is exactly what it is, and I found it thrilling. The ending was beautiful, and the epilogue, I had a true "OMG " moment, and wow, you'll just have to read that for yourself.
In the back of the book Courtney Cole says her favorite quote from Ernest Hemingway is, "The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places." Then, she goes on to say that that perfectly sums up why she is writing this series. She states, "I wanted to write stories that people could relate to, stories where my characters were far from perfect, but had readers rooting for them to succeed, to overcome their personal demons......The fact of the matter is, real life can be a bitch sometimes. It can slap you, shove you around, and then kick you while your down. But the important thing is this: Life is hard, but it can only break you if you let it......Your life is your own. If you don't like it, if it makes you sad, if it makes you discouraged on a daily basis, change it. Change everything about it until you're in love with your life and it's exactly how you want it. If Dominic, Jacey, Madison, Gabriel, Pax and Mila have shown you anything, I hope it is that. That you can be dealt a really crappy hand in life, but the power to change everything rests within you. You hold the key to your own happiness. We've each got one life. live the heck out of yours."
I thought that was absolutely beautiful, and while her books are all kinds of entertaining, filled with hot sexy guys, sizzling romance, a great plot with wonderfully written main characters and kick-ass, emotional, dark, heartwarming, and heartbreaking stories, I think that that is the message she would most like to convey to her readers, and personally, I think that is profound. That said, if and when you chose to read this book, this series, I hope you will keep that in mind and that you will truly allow the experience, as entertaining as it is, to mark you with that realization. I love it and I hope you do to. I know they are fictional, but the characters in each book in this series will always hold a special place in my heart....more

This New Adult Romance is beautifully written with not only a great story line, but also the romance laced with Cora Carmack's gift for writing humor into a story that her fans will love.
I love sports-themed novels and this one centers around college football. The main characters are Dallas and Carson. Dallas is starting her first year in college and her dad is the football coach, something that she considers both bad and good in a variety of different ways. I loved her character and found her not only likable, but easy to connect with, but just all around enjoyable. Carson is a quarterback, second string, who finds himself quickly propelled into the first string position. I loved him. His family is not wealthy and he has had to fight his way, tooth and nail, working his butt off to get to go to college, and is one of the ones who truly appreciates it. Of course he's hot, sexy, and has that swoon factor that Carmack delivers when writing her male leads. There are quite a few secondary characters that I also loved and can't wait to see more of in future installments in this series.
The synopsis of this book couldn't describe this book more perfectly. The romance will make you smile, swoon, and laugh while bringing on just the right amount of steam to make it exciting. I love Cora Carmack's writing style and she has captivated me once again in All Lined Up. If you are a fan of contemporary romance and want a true "New Adult" feel good romance, then All Lined Up is a book I would definitely recommend checking out. I can't wait to see what Cora Carmack has in store for her readers next in this series. ...more

I have to say that Racing Savannah is probably my favorite so far, next to Catching Jordan. I loved the story itself, the setting was awesome, and the characters were great. I loved Savannah. She is tough, a bit insecure, yet still not afraid to go for what she wants, most of the time. She can can be a little judgmental at times, but she also finds herself being judged to. This is something that makes her seem less perfect and more like a real person to me though. She is very loyal, has an outstanding work ethic, and is willing to do whatever it takes to help her family. Jack Goodwin is a hottie, that's for sure, and he seems like a good guy, most of the time. He has his own demons to overcome, mostly related to his dad and what he perceives are his parent's "expectations" of him. He really ticked me off when it came to Savannah and how he treated her for a while because of who she was and who he was, but he redeemed himself before it was all over. I loved the horse racing aspect of the story and how Miranda Kenneally wove the romance in around that, while also addressing some really important social issues at the same time.
As far as the secondary characters. I absolutely loved Rory and Vanessa, and they stole the show more than once during the story. Rory is Will's younger brother and we get to see Will and Parker from Stealing Parker, which was great, as well as get glimpses of the characters from the previous books. If you remember Drew from Stealing Parker, you will get a kick out of what he is doing in this book. The romance aspect was pretty hot and the chemistry between Savannah and Jack was definitely plausible. Overall, Racing Savannah is a really enjoyable and entertaining story that is fast paced and interesting, and has great characters, some humor as well as some serious moments, and is a great asset to Miranda Kenneally's Hundred Oaks Series.

Crash Into You is Isaiah's story and I have to say that Isaiah has always held a special place in my heart. He has always come across as a badass tough guy, but underneath it all you knew there was a really a heart of gold and a wounded little boy and I just wanted to hug him. I was thrilled to find out he was getting his own story, especially after the hurt he endured in Dare You To. The love interest in this story, Rachel, is a sweetheart to and I liked her immediately also, and felt as protective of her as I do Isaiah. Though they come from totally different backgrounds, Isaiah and Rachel are kindred spirits, each understanding the other on a deep level that surpasses words, each understanding the other's hurts and needs better than they understand their own. Where as Isaiah has been raised in the foster system and has had to fight for everything he has, Rachel has been raised very wealthy, and you'd think she was a spoiled princess, but she is anything but. She has such a sweet, kind, and giving spirit and she is very insecure - focusing everything she has and is on trying to please her family, her mother, and gain acceptance. She's extremely shy and withdrawn, but she and Isiah have one thing in common, and that is their love for all things cars. She knows about as much as Isaiah does about them and loves to get her hands in the grease as much as he does.
They meet when they get into a bit of a bind from trouble involving a street race, something that brings them together, which was a really good thing, but also threatens their well being on a very serious level, and that of their friends. They work together with a common goal, but also get to know each other and fall in love in the process. I loved watching their relationship develop. They deal with a lot individually, as a couple, and with their families and friends, and it was wonderful seeing them grow and change in the process. It's not an easy road, but it's a good one. We get to meet several new characters in this book, which I enjoyed. Rachel has four very hot and very overprotective brothers, one of which is her twin. Abby, is one of Isaiah's friends and she plays a role in the story, as well as Logan, who we met in Dare You To. I really liked both of them a lot and I hope we get to read more about them in the future. We get to see Noah and Echo again, and a little bit of Beth and Ryan. The story itself was wonderful and I enjoyed every bit of it. Romance, hot tattooed guy willing to do whatever it takes for his girl, shy girl who loves said badass hot guy, and a whole lot of angst, drama, romance, and racing in the mix. What more could you ask for. Crash Into You is another awesome installment in this series that I have come to love and I can't wait for the next book in the story, which will be Rachel's brother West's story. (There's a little preview at the back of the book and I can already tell it's going to be good). I think Noah and Echo will always hold a special place in my heart, but I can truly say that I have loved each couple Katie McGarry has written about, and honestly, I could have kept on reading about Isaiah and Rachel and their story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
