Cinque stelle perché: - la copertina è fantastica (finalmente una dove non ci sono fiori!), tra le uscite settimanali ha catturato immediatamente la mia attenzione proprio per il suo essere "diversa" dalle altre; - la storia mi ha preso subito, è stato un vero colpo di fulmine, e mi ha talmente coinvolto che, come ho scritto nella premessa, mi ha tenuta incollata alle pagine fino a che il Kindle mi ha detto, "Guarda che il libro è finito!". Non ho mai letto niente del genere, cioè di così originale intendo. Cavolo, come faccio a spiegarmi senza fare spoiler?! Posso dire che è una storia che emoziona, un bel mix di mistero, humor, dramma e romanticismo: ho riso, ho pianto, ho inveito e ho anche provato l'istinto di picchiare qualcuno, non in questo ordine, ma la sensazione è stata la stessa che si prova sulle montagne russe; - l'autrice scrive benissimo, è un'osservatrice attenta, lo stile narrativo coinvolge tutti i sensi: mentre leggevo, potevo vedere le scene come fossero impresse su una pellicola. No, non ho assunto sostanze stupefacenti e non sono impazzita: è il super potere che hanno alcuni autori per stimolare l'immaginazione del lettore. Ovviamente la questione è molto soggettiva, ma volevo condividerla; - i personaggi sono tutti ben caratterizzati e, soprattutto, realistici, cioè si comportano esattamente come richiede la situazione, una caratteristica che apprezzo moltissimo e che mi ha fatto entrare in empatia con ognuno di loro. E li ho adorati. Tutti; - c'è tormento quanto basta (chi mi conosce sa di cosa sto parlando, e per chi non mi conosce lo spiego in poche parole: no tormento no romance :D); - c'è una dichiarazione d'amore che mi ha lasciato senza parole per quanto è bella, di quelle che ti strappano dalle labbra frasi del tipo, "Sposami subito!" - ho pianto fino a morire disidratata; - per tutto il tempo ho avuto in testa la canzone "Due vite" di Marco Mengoni e sono molto felice di averla ritrovata nella playlist dell'autrice; - ho imparato che la parola "rivoluzione" non è prettamente legata a personaggi come il comandante Ernesto "Che" Guevara e Lady Oscar :D

I personaggi sono ben costruiti, le personalità ben delineate e, soprattutto, credibili. Una commedia romantica molto carina, che consiglio agli amanti del genere....more

E' stata una bella scoperta e ho fatto bene a far scemare un po' gli entusiasmi derivati dalla serie tv che, sicuramente, non proseguirò. Mi è bastata la prima puntata. La trama è semplice, abbastanza prevedibile, ma la struttura narrativa regge bene e tutto fila liscio come l'olio, senza intoppi (io non riuscivo a smettere di voltare pagina :P). I personaggi sono ben caratterizzati e, nonostante la famiglia numerosa, ho apprezzato molto che l'autrice abbia focalizzato l'attenzione esclusivamente sui protagonisti, senza divagazioni. Punti di forza di questa storia sono, senza ombra di dubbio, i dialoghi: è anche merito loro se non ci si annoia durante la lettura. "Scoppiettanti" è l'aggettivo che calza a pennello. La trama si snoda fluida e senza sbavature grazie a uno stile semplice, elegante e mai volgare. E neanche troppo smielato, visto che si parla d'amore e perdono il vasetto di Winnie the Pooh era in agguato dietro ogni angolo, ma è stato evitato con destrezza. Credo sia superfluo dire che il protagonista maschile mi ha presa e compresa, ormai è il mio marchio di fabbrica: bello e tormentato. Ma su tutti vince l'ambientazione: l'Irlanda. E quando è troppo è troppo: non si possono risolvere problemi di un certo peso sempre in orizzontale, I am sorry. Per non parlare degli ormoni della protagonista, perennemente schizzati. Da una parte è comprensibile (lui è veramente WOW!), ma sapere che secerne fluidi a ogni pie' sospinto è davvero imbarazzante. Tutto questo si poteva arginare e la storia ne avrebbe giovato. Ma questo libro non ha solo difetti. Se gli ho dato la sufficienza piena è grazie al protagonista maschile (ma va'?!). Eh, lo so. Ops, i did it again... Mi piace lo stile di questa autrice: fluido e scorrevole, che non si perde in inutili digressioni, una buona caratterizzazione dei personaggi e, finalmente, un uso della lingua italiana decente. L'unica pecca, la protagonista: l'ho trovata un po' troppo lagnosa per una madre la cui figlia di due anni è tenuta in ostaggio. Mi sarei aspettata un po' più di combattività, ma va bene anche così.
