It was dry at parts and mildly interesting at others, but overall it didn't deliver on the promised title.
The author showed their own bias and opinions on quite a few occasions. The southern side of the issue was not very well explained, but I didn't expect that nor did it affect my rating, I simply felt I should mention it.

Seriously, most of this book felt like so many dystopian plots. I will be honest enough to say that I haven't read dystopian novels because I usually find even looking at them makes me think they are dark, depressing, and rather dumb.
However, this book did take a couple of unexpected turns that had me wondering if I would enjoy it more than I thought I would. I'm at least going to give the next book a try.
But seriously, can we please let the plot of one teen girl against a one-world government a rest?
I did love how Phili made all her decisions based on what she thought God would have her do. This was done in a very teen way, but authentically. It's one of the big reasons I've kept reading....more

Well, this was a well-written adventure with a lot of emotion packed into it. I was very invested in what happened next and the characters. However, I was disappointed a bit, I will be very honest. One of the biggest things I loved about the original Red Rain was how different it was from everything else out there It was about a girl standing up for what was right even when the government was wrong. This story felt more like your typical teen-against-the-government dystopian novel.
Will I keep reading? Oh yes. But I wish it had kept the feel and originality of the first book. ...more

I loved David's heart, passion, and much of what he had to say. He could have made this book fantastic if he had shared more about his personal journey to discovering the lessons he was passing on, instead of just presenting a summary.
Overall, a solid book on godly singleness that I can recommend, just not as highly as some others....more

Things that are good: ~ Real situations singles face at church ~ Practical help of changing those situations by predetermining how to handle them ~ Overall upbeat feel/not bitter
What I didn't like: ~ The use of slang that not only did I no get, but even a google search did not help me. Can anyone explain what her favorite phrase "it's derby" means? ~ There is nothing to back up a lot of what she suggests. As in there isn't a discussion about how we honor God, biblical examples, or even research ~ There were a couple of comments that had me cocking my head. Especially in the area of sex. Because she didn't explain, I have no idea if I would agree with what she is saying or not.
Overall, I would say this might be an okay conversation starter, but it is steeped in a lot of personal culture and slang that could make it harder to engage with. Also, the lack of really delving into the subject, makes this more of a starter guide then an in-depth look. ...more
