(I skipped over the sex scenes while I'm confessing also. I wanted romance, dammit!) Took back one star but the story was good.

(Like Romeo, at least in my version.) Don't want to spoil it but it reminds me of a Haiku poem: short, to the point, says what it needs to and leaves without a backward glance. Brava!!

Both of these men made each other better. I like that! Great as a short story (under 100 pages), a longer version wouldn't have been an improvement. RBoth of these men made each other better. Great new voice of the bodice-ripper genre with a wonderful fiesty heroine. (She had great exit lines which I've always admired- especially in women and it's even better when the lines are directed to men.) This was the fifth book in the series and if the previous were by this author, I wish I'd read them all. I'm definately a fan!!! Highly recommended....more

It's the second in the Hart's Consulting series about (mostly?) human trafficking. Didn't think I'd enjoy the subject but it was as tastefully written as the versatile MC's allowed. (The MC's were rescuers.) This was a standalone but might help to keep the characters seperate. I'd not read this author before but I will definately read the next. Exciting and not just the sex! This sSet in the 1950's of Cannes Film Festival, I was thrilled these people were names I knew: Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn to name just two. This set the scenery so well for me! I felt I was back in time with the jewel heist just having happened. It was a bit of a hoot (to me!) the thief suspected is named The Leopard as I thought of The Pink Panther as I read this. (Too serious a book for that nonsense though!) I was very aware of the ups/downs while reading this book and though my reading was slow- my Life got in the way- I'd definitely recommend this book. Especially if you like strong females in a lead role. As a jewelry designer in the 50's, Ms. Thorpe was a leader, I feel. True, it's just fiction but it had to start somewhere, hmm?

I start out trying to figure out the culprit, then get slammed sideways with other things going on. (I don't multitask well.) I am glad that Nico and Mitchell are still involved in Somers & Hazard's lives and Darnell in Dulac's as I like these secondary characters. The death of a previous character was a great touch! This had a lot to do with the re-introduction of Billy and all his BS: I wanted to smack him! (Or at least run him over a few times.) I like reading about Hazard's client Mitchell and was happy he's doing better. Continuing the Keeper story if only as a side issue is making this reader feeling 'kept in the loop' AND wanting to read more/who-is-it? Recommended! ...more

I'm thrilled to my knickers that she's writing true adult novels with words like 'cock', 'testicles' and of course the grand-papa of them all, 'f*ck'. This also had a wonderful story, several virile Scots in kilts and strong female characters. I will definitely read more of her works since I now KNOW she does 'adult stuff'! YAY!!!...more
