Their meeting, through to their civil ceremony a few years later. Yes they are soldiers but even farther to their core, they're MEN. One or both had shit thrown at them and they still were together.
As a re-read I still give it five stars. The first read because gay men, SEX, soldiers and those cute accents!! This time the story being told and the actions were central and I felt more involved.

Protagonist went to the produce sect., checking out the beef on display at the local market and spies this other guy. They share words (VERY cloak & dagger stuff!) and they go to his studio (I know: Really?? But turns out to be true. Colour me 50 Shades of Embarassed!) Blah, blah, "get naked", your normal porno stuff-- but tastefully done, mind you, as I compare the Prot./story to a not-quite Anais Nin from Delta of Venus.
