Esto principalmente por la excelente versión en prosa de Samuel Butler, la cual cuenta con un lenguaje muy amigable y de fácil comprensión para los neófitos como yo, las ilustraciones sencillas, pero acertadas de Calpurnio y los datos importantes que se nos van soltando a pie de página en algunos momentos importantes de la trama, así como la cronología que permite establecer una posible fecha exacta en la que inicia y termina la historia. Personalmente leer esta versión me recordó a cuando leí los Mitos Nórdicos de Neil Gaiman, esto en cuanto a la forma en que se adapta algo que de por su antigüedad, leerla de manera literal puede resultar difícil, denso o aburrido, pero cuando expertos trabajan en adaptar una historia de esa magnitud a un lenguaje actualizado permite que se pueda disfrutar por todos en tiempos modernos.
Quiero mencionar que dos cosas me impulsaron a querer aventurarme en este gran clásico y salirme de mi zona de confort, el primero, mi deseo de leer Ulises de Joyce en un futuro no muy lejano, y en segundo, mi anterior lectura "El Infinito en un Junco", en el que claramente se le atribuye una gran importancia a la obra de Homero en ese contexto de la antigüedad y el origen de los libros por lo cual cada vez que se mencionaba quedaba bastante picado y con ganas de querer leer tales obras.
Puedo decir que quedo completamente satisfecho de conocer todas las aventuras y desventuras de nuestros personajes míticos e icónicos, tales como Ulises, Telémaco, Penélope y demás, creo que una de las mejores cosas que te quedan de leer obras tan importantes es que ahora vas a poder entender absolutamente todas las referencias que vas encontrando en otras novelas e inclusive en películas o videojuegos, que inclusive me pasó hace poco cuando veía la película de "El Lector".
Ahora espero leer pronto La Ilíada, que sí bien es cierto quedé con la duda respecto a sí debía leer ese primero, pero como la editorial sacó primero este pues así quedo decidido mi orden de lectura aunque no creo que importe mucho....more
