The world has changed - Hugh is in jail (those in power did not take too kindly to his claims of genetic similarities between the classes), heading for execution. Unknown to him, his claims were leaked and the other classes are uprising - wanting equality. This book starts out fast (after a little background) and just keeps going. Like the others in the series there's action, amusement and monsters (there has to be monsters). There's also the beginning of a romance that will help set the stage for the rest of the series. Many of my beta readers said this is the best of the three - so if you liked Escape and Secrets - you should love this book. Get ready for a fun ride through the forest, swamps and city of the Lake of Sins.

Lake of Sins: Secrets in Blood, the second book in the Lake of Sins series starts right where Escape ends.
Having already set up the world this book tLake of Sins: Secrets in Blood, the second book in the Lake of Sins series starts right where Escape ends.
Having already set up the world this book takes you right into the action. Even the chapters that are more of a setup read fast.
You also get a better understanding of how this world works. Book 1, Escape, was told from Trinity and Troy's POV. They are both Producers. They have a very limited knowledge of the world. That left a lot of unanswered questions for many readers. This book will answer a lot (but not all) of those questions.
In Secrets you get the POV of a Producer, two Almightys and a Guard, so you get a better world view.
This book is big, but even I am surprised at how fast a read it is. If you liked Escape then you will love Secrets.
Take a look and as always, let me know what you think....more

These stories will cover what Conguise is doing in his lab and the creatures that he uses for experiments.
This first story is about Trinity's River-Man, Christian. I had a lot of interest in this character so I thought I'd let you see who he was before he became Christian the River-Man.
Mutter is a flawed Guard who had a rough life that gets rougher once he meets Professor Conguise.
I enjoyed writing this book. It's short and fast, but also dark and horrific. I hope you like it. ...more
Let me start by being clear that I am the author of this book, so this review is biased. I mean, honestly, I'm going to give myself five stars.
What I Let me start by being clear that I am the author of this book, so this review is biased. I mean, honestly, I'm going to give myself five stars.
What I wanted to do with this review is expound on why I made some of the decisions that I did when writing this book.
I had reworked this novel many times on advice from different agents. "Start at the action." "We need more backstory." “Trinity is whiny.” "We need to know the world." Well, it seems, that at least for this story, I could not do all of those requests at once, so I went with the advice from fellow students and the teacher in my Science Fiction and Fantasy writing class. I made the beginning a little slower with world building. Some like it; some don't. Fortunately for me, this exercise in reworking the story gave me a better understanding of Trinity.
At first, she was a character who reacted. She didn't make decisions; she just went along with whatever in order to survive. That is not a bad trait, but I wanted my heroine to make decisions about her life and live with the consequences. Since, she is truly a kind-hearted soul, the consequences of some of her actions weigh heavy on her.
I also struggled with the Troy chapters. His section has been the most polarizing; people either love or hate the Troy chapters. Many like to see his devolution and others just plod through those sections to get back to Trinity.
I felt that it was important for the readers to understand the antagonist and how he went from friend to foe. I hope you like the book. I love to hear from my readers, so don’t hesitate to contact me with questions and comments.
Oh, all of my beta readers liked book two even better than book 1. So, I hope you will all give it a chance. Book 2, Lake of Sins: Secrets in Blood, starts right where the first book ends and races right along. ...more
