I have read most of Marty Wingate's books and thoroughly enjoyed them. This is one is no different. It is the first book in a new series, the First EdI have read most of Marty Wingate's books and thoroughly enjoyed them. This is one is no different. It is the first book in a new series, the First Edition Library series and full of funny scenes and quirky characters which brought smiles and amusement as I read. I personally like that it is set in Bath where many of Victorian romances take place. Of course there, is a cat, Bunter, tortoiseshell cat and a nephew, who feels the estate is rightfully his. Hayley has a long-time romance.
Hayley Burke has her dream job she the curator at the First Edition Library and this library has the first edits of mysteries and has never read a mystery. She lives on the premise along with Mrs. Woolgar, the Secretary to Lady Gerorgiana Fowling. Her plans to bring the library to this century have disapproval of Mrs Woolgar. Hayley invited a group of fan-fiction writer who write stories from Agatha Christie books. One of these writers is found MURDERED in the library which brings the police into the story. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

Shelby is being stalked by a mysterious stranger who is determined to find out about her premonition. Will he succeed? There is a plot to damage Chris so he involves Uncle Joey. One of his junior lawyers has started the action and is MURDERED before Shelby can act. You can read all as a standalone but is better read them in order. I recommend that you read CARROTS first. Verity Long is still trying to undo the damage she did that keeps the gangster, Frankie to her home. Ellis, her detective boyfriend has agreed with Verify being a ghost hunter. She has accepted a request to visit a haunted asylum to see a gangster who knows who shot Frankie and might a way to unlock Frankie from Verify home. Frankie, Ellis, and Verify went to the asylum and had an adventure there during a vicious thunderstorm. They meet with several guests, one so powerful that he can lock all doors and windows. The Ghostbusters are present, a couple who spend the night in a haunted house, and the quirky owner. The powerful ghost can also murder a living person and does. Will the group escaped the haunted hospital before they become ghosts? I highly recommend this book and series.

Josie Waters has used her savings to purchase the Guesthouse from an elderly family friend. It came with residents cats, Nero and Marlowe. The house needs a lot of work and a portion has been shut up for safety reasons. The cats alert Josie to a dead body in the closeup section of the house. The person was a good critic and it is thought the villain is someone who didn't like a review. Nero and Marlowe have the run of the town and meet the cats of the area. The cats talk with each other and share clues to the murder. The cats all have different personalities some that bother me. The story is fix-rated with the seagulls dropping things on the visitors of the bed and breakfast establishment. Josie sets a sting to catch the murderer, will she succeed. I recommend this book. Delicious sounding recipes included.

The first night she finds a golden retriever under porch who is badly hurt. Her boyfriend Joe, a K-9 handler is worried about Stephanie and has joined Lilly and her daughter in Tennessee. The characters are fully developed and have attractive traits even the dogs. Joe has to return to work asked friend to watch over the house and residents. The house is ransacked and the body of the crabby is found. The various trends are skillfully brought together for an entrainment read. There several tips on training a dog.I found the book hard to put down and looking g forward to the next boom. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND SERIES.

While had no problem understanding the story it would have been better if I had read the previous books as the tale often refers to them. I now have 2 more books to add to my TBR PILE. Violet Waverley is now the caretaker of the Charming Books, a Magical Bookstore. There is a talking crow who had broken his wing as a fledging and refused to leave. Emerson, a tortie cat who went everywhere with his previous owner. Both added humor to the story. The store keeps throwing copies of LITTLE WOMAN around. Violet does not understand what the store is trying to tell her. There are 4 Perkin sisters in the tale that are estranged from each other. Violet and Grandmother Daisy are supplying the books for a local winery for a book signing affair for sommelier Belinda Perkins. Violet had a lot negative history with the winery. Emerson managed to sneak into the car and ride to the event. After an upsetting scene between the two sisters, the affair closes. Violet left Grandmother Daisy to pack up as Violet is looking for Emerson who has managed to disappear. He leads Violet to a dead body. Will Violet find answers Belinda'death before a friend is arrested for her murder?

There are two main themes in the tale one covers the history of the Ghost Cat, Blue and the second one is about the Pumpkin Cookie Contest. These two themes are skillfully brought together. The High Cliff Cat Shelter is working how the way, Lara Caphart and her Aunt Fran imagine it. Lara accepts a position as a judge for the cookie contest. At the gym the morning of the contest, Gladys Plouffe, a former home economics teacher who no one like dies eating a cookie from the contest. Lara is looking for reasons why someone would poison the cookies. There are many suspects and the ending will astonish you, it did me. I highly recommend this book and series.

It is as funny as the other books, Charli armadillo Princess has a boyfriend, skunk. Princess brings to the book barn and the scenes are hilarious. Charlie is helping Clyde with reelection campaign and it is bothering Mateo. The book barn weekly book selection is a story that closely matches residents of Hazel Rock, Texas. The gossip runs fast through the town, especially when a body is found the new greens hotel. Charlie will have to work fast to clear her friend, Sugar before she is convicted of the crime. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND SERIES.

It was interrupted by the murder of the dirrector of the fundraiser, Kathy Lamb. Follow shop owner Maureen managed to pick a fight with Kathy at the beginning of the event and so is a person of interest. Much against her will Gamma agrees to do some looking into the death. As Gemma is asking questions about Kathy's background Gemma uncovers a possible murder seven years ago. Yes, Moriarty has a role in the story. Will Gemma be successful in keeping Maureen out of prison? The ending is a surprise and I like it. I am looking forward to spending more time at the bookshop. I highly recommend this book and series.

This was class under mysteries but I felt it was a novel with the mystery as the major point in the story. There were romances and I knew the killer early in the book. I will read this author again. There were happenings that I wonder about.
House-flipper Jazzi Zanders and her cousin Jerod had brought a Cal Saunders house to rehab it. It had been rented and the renter sold anything of value and destroy the house. They found a lovely chest in the attic and upon opening it the found a skeleton. The hands still had rings and Jazzi recognized them as belonging to her Aunt Lynda who went to New York City about twenty years ago and was never heard from again. A short time later a second body was found buried in a shallow grave. Ansel, a friend, and his dog had joined them to aid I the rehab of the house. Jazz decided to buy the house for her large extended family affairs. The story had a number of twists as the story unfolds. What was the reason for the murders? How did the murder play out? I highly recommend this book. Recipes are included.

There is a retirement village called Harbor Village. Cleo excepted a part-time position in the area as activity director. While moving into an apartment Cleo learns that her ex-husband is the CEO of the corporation who owns the community. His current wife, Lee is the director. Cleo hadn't met or talk to him in over 20 years. He is the father of her daughter and delightful grandson. She adopt s a cat that was left by a previous renter and spends a lot of time looking for its names. A neighbor has a dog. The dislike director, Lee is found in the Village pool. It is determined later that she was murdered. Cleo is named acting director and she is not given any directions of how to run the department. Her first step is to become familiar with the community and she began to find something wrong but must spend the time to look It for the problem. What is her cat's name? How do the dos play into the tale? One of the employees has a litter of kittens and Cleo okays bringing the cats to the assist living building where they are a big hit. What is wrong at the Village? I highly recommend the book.

Her Great-aunt has Callie take the cake and other supplies to Haywood Hall for tea party given by Dorothy Finster who plans to read her new will. All invited want or need the money every one believes that she had. The party did not go very well as several persons had the end agenda. A body is found in Conservatory. A plan for a surprise engagement goes wrong. A piece of jewelry goes missing. Callie becomes involved with the homicide detective and his two nephews. Callie finds trouble wherever she went and managed to straighten every event to the point I started to dislike her. I highly recommend this book.
