I’ve never cared about tennis. Never have, and never thought I would. Having read Taylor Jenkins Reid before and loving every book of hers, I decided I’ve never cared about tennis. Never have, and never thought I would. Having read Taylor Jenkins Reid before and loving every book of hers, I decided to try this one. "How bad could it be?" I said. To my surprise, this is one of the best books I’ve read in 2024.
It’s written so beautifully, it underlines some messages that are thrown to you in the book, and even though it’s about tennis, you can take so much out of them. Carrie is not even likeable, and that’s what makes the book so real. She’s not your typical perfect protagonist; she has many flaws and is arrogant. But I couldn’t stop reading. I got so into the story that I’m actually considering starting to watch the sport now.
I’ve said this before: Taylor is my favorite author....more

...more

Even though it was surprisingly short, it was direct and its message carried a weight I wasn't prepared for. It made me feel sad and got me thinking about how I haven't shown appreciation or love to the people I care about. Maybe I'll start sending more letters. Who knows, or maybe, like Cabbage the cat, I'll forget about it tomorrow. And then regret will follow when someone's last days are approaching....more

I thought it was going to be cheesy, as it was predictable at times, and even the ending was obvious from the last 2 chapters, but dear god, I love when women choose themselves.
Let’s all cheer for women not settling for half-assed shit. Let’s cheer for women wanting more out of men. Let’s cheer for women who trust that someone will step up, and you don’t have to settle for crabs!
I’m gonna leave this here: You know what you want, and what he offered wasn’t enough....more

I don’t understand why people don’t like this book. It was real, intense, mature and heartbreaking.
Graham is human. He is not perfect and if he wasn’t fictional I’d fall in love with him in 5 seconds. I think I like him so much because he is written by a female writer so of course he was made to be this hot, smart loving man that knew exactly what to say and when to say it.
The part where he cheated made the book even more real and raw as to what actual human relationships are like. I felt so sad for Quinn. I can’t not even imagine what going through infertility feels like.
I think the hype is real with Colleen, can’t wait to read more of her books. ...more

...more

I liked this book at first, I even said to my self “this might be my favourite Colleen book” the premise was so promising. The confession part and how Owen’s art was based on other’s people confession was very smart. HOWEVER, Auburn was this annoying helpless person, who the fuck dates their dead boyfriend’s brother just so they can be close to their child???
I don’t know I hated how weak Auburn was and I don’t reason with anything she did. I felt uncomfortable that she had to date Trey wtf?!!!??? A bit much no?
Anyway, it was a quick read blah blah classic Colleen. 2/5⭐️⭐️...more
