This was a little intense, but not quite as bad as the spoiler warnings would have lead you to believe. There was definitely a scene towards the end that was hard to read, but for the most part it was a fairly easy read. More heartfelt than anything, considering all that had happened to Ethan. I liked both he and Gabriel, and if Ethan was going to break into someone's house, I'm glad it was Gabriel's....more

Snowed in and stuck sharing the same cabin, Iris and Kyler do their best to make the most out of their situation, after at first fighting it. It's not long before their attraction gets the best of them! But that's not all there is to this story, and I liked how they both discover things about themselves. There was a lot of depth to the characters and their story, even with this being a novella. You really got to know Iris and Kyler and I had a lot of empathy for both of them. I loved how things worked out in the end!...more

Add in the narration by my favorite YA narrator Michael Crouch, and really, it was a no brainer.
This was such an intense read and I loved it so much. I just wanted to protect Wes from everything. Phew. He had so much internal rage, with a big ol' chip on his shoulder. But there was so much more to him than he let people see. I loved his coming of age journey, even while it broke my heart at times.
Michael Crouch was the perfect choice to narrate Wes's story. His vulnerability really shone through in this performance....more

Oh those Bower boys! Cal doesn't know what to do with himself- he's loved Jolene since they were kids, but "let" his brother Jake make the first move and has regretted it ever since. And now that they're back in Windfall and Jake wants to win her back he's once again playing the martyr. But there's no denying the chemistry between Cal and Jo, although neither one dares to move on it, until they can no longer hold off.
I loved how Cal was so caring with Jo, and with so many of the residents of Windfall. Even while in WITSEC he made it a point to keep tabs on his friends and help when he could, in secret. Jo is such a strong and feisty character, she found it hard to let go and accept or ask for help. I really liked these two together- I'm a sucker for friends to lovers, and childhood best friends just does me in!
I loved seeing Jo and Cal rekindle their friendship, and all the pining they both did. While it took them awhile to finally own up to their feelings for each other, the journey was so worth it. Some people find their soulmate at a young age and these two are proof that time and distance doesn't stand a chance!

Sweet second chance romance. 3.5*
Stronghold was a sweet childhood friends to enemies/lost touch second chance romance. Judson and Skyler had been friends since birth, but one misunderstanding blew their friendship apart, until 10 years later when they're both back home. This is another one of those books that makes me sad for the characters, having been separated for so long due to a lack of communication. But thankfully they got their second chance and were able to clear the air, even if it took too long.
I enjoyed the narrator, although there were times it was difficult to differentiate the two characters....more

This was a fun read. Although there was a whole "sHE's NoT liKE OthEr GIrls" vibe to this story, it wasn't as irritating as some can be. Hannah is actually a likeable and relatable character. Sam's a billionaire who wants to find someone who won't care, and after overhearing a couple guys talking about Hannah, he knows he's found the one. Little does he know, she really is the "one"! I enjoyed the banter between these two, and that Hannah didn't drop everything any time Sam wanted to meet up. She really was perfect for him.

The world building was fantastic, and I loved the idea of the Witchery, where each family owned their own magical business. This is a book I could definitely see being on the big screen and I'd be there on opening weekend.
Tana has a lot resting on her shoulders for someone her age, the entire line of witches relying on her for their future. While she's always known this was to be her life, a chance encounter makes her realize not everything is as it seems and there might be more to her world than she ever thought.
Once Tana met Wolfe the story really became engaging- my favorite parts were when she was with him. He was such a compelling character and I wanted to know more about his life. I liked how he challenged her, making her question everything she thought she knew.
I really enjoyed the last 20ish percent of the book, as everything really amped up. And I like the way the story ended, with all kinds of possibilities for the future of the witches....more

Lark and Henry were friends as children, bonding when they were both hospitalized with cancer. After Henry was released they lost contact-as they were from opposite sides of the track it wasn't that surprising, but certainly sad. So I was happy when they found each other again in college.
While Lark is open with who he is, Henry isn't. He's the star quarterback and feels like he can't be his true self, without it causing issues. In some ways this was your typical "jock in the closet/out nerd" coupling, but it was a little more special because of Lark and Henry's history and the bond they shared. There were some really sweet moments in this book, and I really liked how their relationship developed.

Both Jake and Logan were carrying a lot of weight on their shoulders, but for different reasons. I was so glad they had each other. Jake's family had a lot going on and they really needed to work through it and finally confront some things. There was a little angst on Logan's end, as he was worried about coming out, not sure what his friends and teammates would think, but particularly how his parents would handle it, with a pastor for a father. But I really liked how Logan made a stand at the end!

I don't know how much, if any, this book has in common with that one, I was sold by the title, a haunted high-school, and the idea of a ghost-hunting scholarship - sign me up! There was so much more to this story than just ghost-hunting, though. It's a story of a broken family trying to pick up the pieces after the tragic loss of their father and husband. It's the story of Hattie, whose facade as the perfect daughter and student is about to crumble under the weight she's placed on herself.
I very much enjoyed this book. Of course I loved the idea of a haunted high school and I would have been thrilled to be Kit's ambassador. And I wish there had been a little more focus on the ghost hunting, to be honest. But as fun as that aspect of the book was, it was second to Hattie's journey and how she needed to reconcile who she was before her dad died, with who she is now- and who she wanted to be. It wasn't an easy journey by any means, there were a lot of bumps along the way, and a lot of growing up to do, but I really liked the person she became. ...more

Ben is such a sweet cinnamon roll who puts way too much on his plate, literally. Between running his bakery and appearing on a reality show, (and all the headaches that brings- hello absentee father), worrying about his mom and grandma, and then throw in Adam, the love of his life, I'm not sure how he handles it all. But is he, really, handling it all? Sometimes it was tough being in his head, with all his angst and anxiety and feelings of abandonment. But he's just so darling, you want all the good things for him.
Ever since reading In the Event of Love, I've been waiting for Ben and Adam's book and I was not disappointed. This was a heartfelt, fun story, with some heavier themes. I loved how inclusive it was, and how Ben's mental health was dealt with. Adam was a surprise, in a good way! After that scene in the beginning I wasn't sure what to think, but Ms. Kae didn't do me wrong. Ben and Adam were perfect together and I was so happy to be along as they figured things out. ...more

It had potential, but was mostly meh. Kale Williams narration saved this one for me. I think if I had read it in my have ended up being a dnf. But luckily it was a quick listen and I powered through. I like the idea of the plot, but the characters didn't work for me. Logan's character was just a little too much, and while I usually love a character like Brody- a little damaged and broken hearted, he was also a little unlikeable, too. So this was a tough one for me. I'd probably give the story a 2.5* because I just wanted it to be over. I rounded up to 3* because I did like the ending.
