Returning home after a week long belated honeymoon Detective Josie Quinn and her husband Nate stumble across an active crime scene in this latest instReturning home after a week long belated honeymoon Detective Josie Quinn and her husband Nate stumble across an active crime scene in this latest instalment in the thrilling Detective Josie Quinn series; and this one is a cracker! That hits you from the start and never lets go.
As two teenage girls Dina Hale and Alison Mills are attacked at the side of the road as they wait for the fog to lift. But whilst Alison is able to escape, Dina isn't so lucky and as Nate and Josie set out to hunt for Dina's killer and search for Alison they have plenty of questions.
Only none of the answers make any sense, and when they learn Dina was recently tortured and the supervisor at the hotel where both girls worked part time was murdered, they begin to wonder what these teenagers were involved in.
And as the bodies piled up and the search for Alison intensified I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, and honestly I had no idea who was involved even when part of the story clicked I still couldn't work out who was ultimately responsible.
But OMG did I have a great time finding out and with so many twists and moments I didn't see coming. This truly was a compelling and unputdownable read. That I'd 100% recommend to others.

Missing Angel returns readers to Manchester Bay and the fantastic Agent Tori Hunter series for an unputdownable and at times nail biting read.
As Tori Missing Angel returns readers to Manchester Bay and the fantastic Agent Tori Hunter series for an unputdownable and at times nail biting read.
As Tori and Braddock investigate a case that hits extremely close to home when twelve-year-old Isabella Farner is brazenly kidnapped in front of witnesses including Braddock's son Quinn and his cousin Peter; and even though there are witnesses the team soon find they have little to go on. That is until they get a tip from an old friend.
And with one big twist after another. Not to mention shoot outs galore and a desperate dash to try and rescue two more missing children this is a gripping read.
That not only had me guessing but on the edge-of-my-seat, and I can't wait to find out what these two characters will be investigating next.
I would happily recommend.

This is my first introduction to Detective Erika Foster and author Robert Bryndza and if this story is anything to go by I will definitely be reading more!
As Fatal Witness was a gripping crime thriller that sees DCI Erika Foster stumble across a crime scene when on a late night walk in her new neighbourhood she hears a blood curdling scream coming from some flats and finds a woman who has discovered her sisters mutilated body.
And as Erika and her team including the wonderfully named Kate Moss dig a shocking discovery is made and a neighbour arrested. But with a powerful ally in his corner, Erika is going to have to tread carefully.
Yet, with all evidence of the victims latest true crime podcast recordings missing and a second body discovered nothing is making any sense.
And with a long list of suspects this was certainly a story that kept me guessing and I was sure I had the killer nailed. But I couldn't have been more wrong if I tried; and with a shocking confrontation with the real killer this was a compelling tale. That fans of the series and genre are sure to love.

That grabbed me from the start and never let go. As D.I. Lottie Parker and her disjointed team are called to investigate the murder of school girl Lucy McAllister.
A murder that is complicated by a messy crime scene thanks to a house party that got out of control and was attended by Lottie's son Sean. But Lottie knows he's not responsible even if someone on her team isn't quite so sure.
And with big twists this was an enthralling and at times heartbreaking read. That was brilliantly paced and had me guessing until the very end.
Furthermore, it's made me more keen than ever before to pick up the books in this series I've missed out on. Even if I have a TBR pile that is seriously out of control!!!
I would happily recommend The Guilty Girl to others.

Detectives Kane and Alton are back and about to tie the knot. That's if they survive long enough to make it to the altar.
As a sadistic killer has arrived in Black Rock Falls and this time Jenna, Dave and the team may have finally met their match.
And with a story packed full of twists and turns and a familiar face in the line of fire. D.K. Hood's fifteenth instalment is a thrill ride that I didn't want to put down, and it's a brilliant addition to one of my favourite series.
Which is why I would happily recommend it to others.

This is my first introduction to D.S. Butler's Detective Karen Hart Series, and I really enjoyed it. Not only because it's set in Lincolnshire which is where half my family are from, but because the story really drew me in.
As D.S. Hart is called to a family home after five-year-old Molly tells her mum that she's seen a young woman abducted and tossed into the back of a van. But is she really telling the truth or just making up another tall tale?
And with lots of procedural detail, great pacing and an interesting mix of characters this was a very engaging read. That had plenty of twists and turns and it genuinely had me guessing throughout. Which is why I would happily recommend it, and I'll certainly be reading the five books I've missed out on.

And with twists galore, a killer I did not see coming and an old adversary out to exact revenge on Kim this was a story I COULD NOT PUT DOWN and I personally believe it's the best one yet!
But be prepared to be put through the ringer and make sure you have plenty of free time available to read as when you start you will not be able to stop, it really is that good!!
I would definitely recommend.

Watch Her Disappear, book fourteen in the brilliant Detective Josie Quinn series is a spellbindingly good crime thriller. That was full of twists, intrigue, and suspense as Josie and the team are called to investigate the murder of a teenager at prom only to discover the teenager isn't known to the school and her cause of death has striking similarities to an unsolved case from twenty-five years ago.
And as the case becomes extremely personal for one member of the team, and more bodies and missing teenagers are identified Josie and her chief set out on an edge-of-your-seat road trip to catch a killer and hopefully rescue their latest victim before its too late.
I would definitely recommend.

As Detective Harper investigates the murder of Terri Summers someone everyone seemed to love meanwhile her closest friend and PI Nate Monroe begins his investigation into Ruby Rader and her grandson Oliver who both disappeared without a trace six years ago.
And as both cases collide with devastating consequences I was hooked and I had no idea who the killer was. But oh, did I LOVE finding out and with new characters and relationships introduced and old ones once again rearing their ugly heads I can't wait for what's to come next and would definitely recommend this book and series to others.

Fifteen months on from the devastating events in Time Is Running Out and the shocking discovery that followed in Survivor's Guilt. DCI Matilda Darke iFifteen months on from the devastating events in Time Is Running Out and the shocking discovery that followed in Survivor's Guilt. DCI Matilda Darke is back about to investigate the most harrowing and for somebody on the team personal case yet.
As the Homicide and Major Crimes Unit are called to the sprawling home of Richard Ashton O.B.E. Who's been found murdered in the most macabre way imaginable and soon after news of his death is made public, the team are told a heart wrenching story that sheds light on their victim and exposes a trail of child abuse dating back to the late 1990s.
But not everyone inside South Yorkshire's Police Headquarters are keen to hear this and with the country on the verge of lockdown and very few people willing to talk an edgy and once again depleted HMCU struggle to ID a killer who's made it clear they will not stop killing.
And with the strain of the unknown. A harrowing storyline and the shocks and twists, which are as ever brutal and plentiful. This is an utterly compelling read. That I just couldn't put down and with everybody's futures in the balance and a dramatic ending. Michael Wood has once again knocked it out of the park, and I can't wait to see where this series goes next.
I would highly recommend the DCI Matilda Darke series and The Lost Children to all.

But just because she's been through months of rehab and is now back in charge of the newly renamed Homicide and Major Crimes Unit doesn't mean she's ready or that the team's new offices aren't full of the ghosts from that horrific day.
Yet, as Matilda and her now depleted team continue to deal with the aftermath of the trauma inflicted on them. They have a new case to solve.
As there's a killer strangling prostitutes in Sheffield and as the HMCU team dig and more victims are uncovered, they begin to question how a serial killer has managed to go undetected for three years and why after a thirteen month break they've started to kill again?
And as the pressure begins to mount, cracks in the team appear and questions are raised over Matilda's fitness for duty. Especially as she appears to be shutting out those closest to her.
And with the biggest what the hell moment yet. This is a fantastic read. That I've not been able to put down and I genuinely didn't believe it was possible to top Time Is Running Out or shock me anymore. But it's happened and I can't wait to find out what these slightly broken, yet brilliant and complex characters get up to next.

Minutes later a gunman opens fire on police outside their South Yorkshire Headquarters and life for the people of Sheffield and the Homicide and Major Enquiry team is never going to be the same again.
And just when the HMET think they've seen all the death and destruction possible more calls comes in. As this gunman is far from done and will ruthlessly kill any man, woman or child who gets in his way.
But will he really succeed? Or will a depleted and shell-shocked team be able to stop him?
And with my heart in my mouth from the very first chapter. This is a story that never lets up and one where the hits just keep on coming and I don't believe I've ever encountered an author so brutal and yet so utterly brilliant. As no matter how devastating and horrible things got I couldn't turn the pages fast enough and never has the phrase roller coaster of a story been more apt, and I know I've said this about every book so far but they've truly got better and I've no idea where these characters and the story can go next or how this can be topped. But OMG I can't wait to find out.

The morning after a wedding reception at a beautiful suburban home in SheffieldIt's the most disturbing crime scene DCI Matilda Darke has ever seen...
The morning after a wedding reception at a beautiful suburban home in Sheffield a bride's entire family is found stabbed to death in a frenzied attack more violent than anything the newly formed Homicide and Major Evidence team (HMET) have ever encountered and forensics all point to a burglar on the run.
But why would a burglar from Barnsley murder the perfect family? And why is it that the more the team digs the less perfect this family seem?
And with Matilda once again dealing with increased media attention and starting to question how convenient the evidence is whilst also worrying about her team who all seem to be fracturing around her. This quickly begins to feel like an impossible case to solve, and one with a killer closer to home than anyone would like.
And with twists round every corner, relatable and complex characters, laughter and more what the hell moments than your average whodunit. This was a truly unputdownable read and honestly, I didn't think The Murder House could top The Hangman's Hold but it genuinely did. Which is why I'd definitely recommend this book and series to others....more

So when Matilda's romantic evening with husband James is interrupted by the murder of twenty-three-year-old Caitlyn. The pair are forced to find a way to work together. As Caitlyn recently reported a rape to Ben's team and she isn't the only one.
But can the animosity between Matilda and Ben be put to one side to stop a rapist and possible killer? Especially when Matilda has a risky plan to catch them.
And with so much packed into 89 pages. This was a fantastic read. That once again felt full length and had a twist I didn't see coming.

But this killer has a particular victim profile in mind one who has offended, and it’s up to DCI Matilda Darke and her team to find them.
But how can a team catch a killer when some of them don’t necessarily believe that the person responsible is doing anything wrong? And who can you trust when the local press seems to know more about the investigation than you?
That’s the predicament facing Matilda as she desperately searches for answers whilst also trying to support her best friend Adele who becomes embroiled in this investigation; and when someone starts to taunt Matilda about her past failings those surrounding her begin to worry not only about her mental health but whether she could soon become the killers next victim.
And with huge twists, humour and an enthralling plot this was once again a story I could not put down, and one I’ve spent every spare minute today reading desperate to know what the hell was going to happen next and more importantly if Matilda and her team were actually going to make it to the end in one piece.
And once I get my breath back and have a strong drink or three I’ll be heading straight into book five as I have to know what is going to happen next.

As DCI Matlida Darke after nine months off for stress returns to Sheffield's MIT to resume command. But with her mental health still in question. The command isn't sure she's ready and honestly neither is she. So instead, Matilda is given a cold case to ease her way in. But this isn't just any cold case it's the notorious Harkness murders and as Matilda and her lone DC start to investigate they find Jonathan Harkness the sole witness to be an anxiety ridden shell of a man. But is he really? And when a body is found, that has links to the original case everything becomes much more complicated. Especially as the acting head of MIT isn't happy to see Matilda return and is determined to solve both cases before Matilda can.
