Detective Josie Quinn #15

Local Girl Missing

Rate this book
Through swirling dawn fog, they follow the trail of discarded items at their feet: a tube of glittery lip gloss; a cell phone; a cracked make-up compact, broken chunks of ivory powder spilling into the grass. Then the mist parts—just for a second—to reveal a beautiful young girl on the ground, her pale lips frozen forever in a silent scream…

On a winding mountain road into the small town of Denton, Pennsylvania, Detective Josie Quinn finds the body of a local teenage girl, Dina Hale. The sight of plum-colored bruises gathering around the girl’s neck pierces Josie’s heart, but the discovery of a second girl’s empty purse in the dirt nearby gives her a flicker of hope that one person, at least, made a lucky escape.

Dina’s parents are grief-stricken as the town rallies together in a desperate search for the second girl, Alison Mills, who waitressed with Dina at a local hotel. The two best friends were on their way to a shift when they were attacked. Josie was too late to save Dina, but she won’t rest until Alison is home safe.

Hitting a dead-end with interviews, Josie thinks she’s on to something when a photo surfaces suggesting Alison was romantically involved with one of the hotel staff. But when Josie arrives at the man’s house to find a bullet in his head, and the house ransacked, the case comes crashing down.

Evidence of frantic searching at both crime scenes has Josie convinced a twisted killer is on a hunt for something very personal and precious. And that they won’t stop until they find it. But how many innocent lives will be destroyed before Josie can uncover the missing piece at the heart of this deadly puzzle? And what sacrifices will she have to make to find Alison alive?

Josie and Noah are driving home from their honeymoon and its very foggy. Its so hard for them to see. They hear some screams and then they see a figure running through the fog in front of their car, a girl with long brown hair. They can no longer see her. She is gone in the fog. They park on the shoulder of the road. They try to find the girl and there is forest all around them.
Josie hears faint sounds of music, then they hear a car engine. Someone had pulled over on the road. She then slips on a makeup compact. Its mirror was cracked, chunks of the ivory makeup spilled on the grass. They start walking to the sound of the music and see a girl laying on her back. A man has his hands wrapped around her throat. He keeps asking her "Where is it? Where the hell is it?
He then gets up on his feet and runs away in the forest. Josie tries to run after him and he gets to a dead end, a cliff. Josie tries to talk to him and he jumps off the cliff into a creek, called Roaring Creek which is a very wide creek and then vanishes. What was he looking for and where is the girl with the long brown hair that ran away and the girl laying on her back on the ground died.

This thriller is action packed. The action started out straight from the beginning to the very end. I did not want to put it down. I thought I had it figured out but I was wrong. I just loved the twists and turns! It has everything that I love in a thriller. This is a fast paced read. There are lots of secrets. I just love this series and love Josie, Noah and their dog named Trout. Trout is treated very well.
This series can be read as a standalone. I read the first seven books of this series then jumped into this one.
This is the 15th book in this series. So I have 8 more to read. I have a lot of great reading ahead of me.

I want to thank Netgalley and Bookouture, for the copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Happy Publication Day!!!!!

Lisa Regan has hit it out of the ballpark yet again!!!!

Local Girl Missing is another hard to put down, pulse pounding addition to the Josie Quinn series! This book could very easily be read as a stand-alone as Lisa Regan is fantastic at filling in the blanks for readers who may not have read the previous books. However, this series, which is one of my favorites, is fantastic, that I highly recommend starting at the beginning. You will be happy you did. There is so much character development and the cases are gripping and captivating.

Josie and Noah are coming back from their honeymoon (yay! they finally took one!) and have pulled off the road due to heavy fog. A person runs in front of their car and as Josie and Noah get out of the car to investigate, they walk into a crime in progress. Things take off from there and never stop. Woohoo!!!

The investigation hits some roadblocks but that never stops Josie or her team. They don't go over the roadblocks- they go through them! As Josie, Noah, Gretchen and the rest of the team work around the clock to solve the case, they find that nothing is as it seems, danger is lurking around the corner and not everyone is telling the truth.

This book was seriously addictive, and I did not want to put it down. There is plenty of action, twists, and revelations. I was intrigued and wanted to know who the character in the italicized sections was. I love doing my own super sleuthing in mystery books and Regan did a good job, keeping me in the dark and guessing.

If you have not read a book by Lisa Regan, you are missing out!

Pulse pounding, gripping and tense!

*Buddy read with DeAnn, Mary Beth, Brenda, and Carolyn.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

***NOW AVAILABLE -- WORKS AS A STANDALONE***

Just when I was starting to give up on thrillers, along comes this book that had everything I love in a thriller/police procedural.

The writing flows wonderfully and the pace is quick!! I have only read a few books in this series but it worked perfectly as a standalone.

Detective Josie Quinn and her husband Noah are just returning from a well earned delayed honeymoon. They are traveling on a fairly quiet road in dense early morning fog.

The next things happen in a flash; they see a man attacking a teenage girl and another girl run away. They pursue but aren’t able to find the girl and the attacker leaps into a river not knowing if he will live or die.

The rest of the plot revolves around the WHO, WHY AND WHAT of this novel.

1. Who are all the players involved in this multi-layered plot?
2. Why did this seemingly “average” married architect try to kill two girls?
3. What is missing that is worth killing over?

Josie, Noah and their team work basically around the clock to find the girl and the man who attacked them. It’s too late for one girl, Dina!! The missing girl, Alison, is her best friend.

The plot is multi-layered, I thought I had it figured out, BUT THERE WAS ALWAYS A PIECE OF THE PUZZLE MISSING!!

If you can guess that before it’s revealed, you are a SUPER SLEUTH!

This was really so good and it’s always fun to watch Josie at work, amazing at her job but also described well in her personal life – we need more people like Josie!! I plan on reading more from this author and I hope you do too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I received an ARC of this novel from the publisher through NetGalley. It was my pleasure to read and review this title.

I think this is one of the twistiest plots yet in this very enjoyable series. Our favourite characters, Detectives Josie Quinn and Noah Farley are finally married and have been able to find time away for a honeymoon. Unfortunately, their restful break away from work is about to come to an abrupt end. On their way home from the airport, driving in thick fog, they see a teenage girl run across the road in front of their car. Stopping to see what she was running from they find a second teenage girl being attacked by a middle-aged man before he too runs away, leaving the contents of the girls bags strewn across the ground, suggesting he was looking for something.

It seems a lot of people are looking for the something that is missing, even though most of them have no idea what ‘it’ is or who it belongs too. Josie and Noah have a hard time trying to work out what is going on and how it all connects to the two teenage girls, who were best friends on their way to work at a hotel when they stopped because of the fog. Throughout the novel, we also hear the voice of another girl called ‘Pea’ whose father seems to be a villain of some sort but it’s not clear who she is or how she fits in to the plot until very near the end when everything falls terrifyingly into place. I thought the plot was very well done, gripping and intriguing without giving away too much until the climax, making for a very wild ride indeed.

With thanks to Bookouture via Netgalley for a copy to read

4.5 where is Alison stars - now available

Intrepid Detective Josie Quinn is on her way back home to Denton after a belated honeymoon with her love Noah. They don’t even make it all the way home before they are sucked into another murder investigation. This time they find a young woman being strangled by the side of the road. Another woman was with her, but she has disappeared into the fog.

Josie, Noah, and the whole team are on the case to determine why the women were attacked, one fatally. Where is Alison and what was the man looking for? Did someone catch up with her or has she successfully gotten away? As they dig into the girls’ lives and workplace, a local hotel, we know something very dark is at work in Denton.

This one was very focused on the police work although there were some brief moments of joy with Trout, one of my favorite dog characters! I was not on the right track with my detective work in this action-packed one, but I enjoyed every minute of the read.

Lisa Regan is one of my favorite authors and when she’s got a new book out, I drop everything else to read it first. This series keeps delivering and I can’t wait to see the next case for Josie and the team. I would highly recommend these and although you can read this as a stand-alone, I would recommend the whole series and you can start with the first and have some great reading ahead!

My thanks to NetGalley and Bookoutre for the copy of this one to read and review.

As Detective Josie Quinn and husband and fellow Detective Noah Fraley crawl along the backroad on their way home from their honeymoon, the fog making it impossible to see two feet in front of their vehicle, their decision to stop saw them hear a piercing scream, followed by the vision of a man choking a young woman to death beside her car. As Josie tried to apprehend the man, chasing him into the nearby bush, Noah was resuscitating the young woman. Dina Hale didn't make it, but her friend and passenger to the vehicle had managed to escape. But would they find her before someone else did?

Alison Mills was on the run and with the Denton, Pennsylvania police force searching for her, as well as trying to find their attacker, Josie, Noah and Gretchen along with the rest of the team, tried to work out what had caused the attack - what was behind it all. Was it drugs, or was it something far more sinister? When another body was discovered, Josie and Noah could feel the clock ticking faster...

Local Girl Missing is the 15th in this addictive Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan, and I loved it once again! I can't believe the imagination of the author who has such different and difficult cases for the detectives, each and every episode. The characters are outstanding, the closeness of the team and how they work together with ease, is well done. I'm already looking forward to #16! Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

This may well the best book in the series yet! Josie and Noah are returning from their much postponed honeymoon when they have to slow right down in thick fog. A girl runs across the road in front of their car. They pull up and find a man strangling another girl. He runs off and Josie gives chase. Just before he jumps off a cliff into a raging river Josie sees sheer terror on his face. He would rather die than be caught. It is too late for the first girl but they do have another girl to find. The two were travelling together on their way to work at a local hotel when they were attacked.

This is a very twisty case. Everyone is too scared to talk. It seemed the dead girl, Dina Hale, had a crush on her boss at the hotel but he is also AWOL. Dina’s house has been searched roughly. When they go to her bosses home they find his place trashed too and him, dead shot in the head. They need to find the other girl, the one that ran away. Josie finally has an idea that pans out and they do find her - but she, too, is totally terrified. What are they all afraid of. Some thuggish looking men have been seen lurking in a black SUV. Who are they? And what is everyone looking for?

There are many twists in this immersive thriller. People are willing to kill to keep a dangerous secret. Can Josie and Noah sort it all out before more people are killed? From the grisly opening prologue to the very end this story is full of drama and high stakes. There are ruthless men that will kill anyone who stands in their way and some young women caught in something huge they don’t understand.

Many series run out of steam before 15 books but Lisa Regan has managed to keep this series fresh and exciting. Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.

This was my first novel by Regan, and also the first in her series about Josie Quinn. Even if I hadn’t read any of the previous books, it didn’t matter. The book described what had happened in previous books effectively without getting in distracting me.

It was obvious that the author has expertise about police investigations. Josie and her husband gets in the middle of a homicide by chance and get involved with the investigation. From there on you felt the clock ticking with every person who was questioned, slowly unraveling the complicated truth. There were a lot of surprises; just when you thought the detectives had all the answers there was another layer and new questions. I liked how the conversations were flowing, interspersed with interesting observations about the people Josie and her team encountered. I also loved Josie and Noah’s relationship. It was a welcome contrast to all the pain and suffering. Regan describes the minds of a diverse group of characters, making it an interesting read.

The last chapters were so suspenseful that it was impossible to not continue reading.

The only negative thing to say was that I found some parts a bit too convenient. There was a lot of lucky guesses, but also some really brilliant ideas by Josie and her team.

Thanks to netgally and bookatoure for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn's series is so well loved, and there are endless reasons why. Action-packed, gripping, twists you never foresee and characters that are like friends.
This is book 15, which is no easy feat. Regan keeps us hooked on every book, and the pacing or character development has not lacked in any of the ones I have read so far. This is no different.
The reader is thrown straight into a crime scene, and as with the last book I did feel sorry for Josie and Noah as they seem to have rotten luck! I did think 'would they really drop everything and go to a crime scene?', but then because I knew them well, I thought, 'of course they would!'
This book just doesn't stop giving with every page, and I loved being reunited with Josie and Noah for a few days!
Another cracker in the series!

As a standalone or part of the series, Lisa Regan's book Local Girl Missing (Detective Josie Quinn Book 15) is a thrilling mystery. This is my first Lisa Regan book in this series and I was blown away by the quality of her writing. Upon finishing this book, I wondered why I had not read her Detective Josie Quinn books before. This being the 15th book in the series, it appears I have some catching up to do.

In Local Girl Missing Detective Josie Quinn and her husband stumble across a crime scene. One teenage girl is dead and another is missing. As they track the killer, they uncover a web of lies, secrets and danger. As a side note, all of this occurs in the first pages of the book, so readers should fasten their seatbelts. There is a wild ride ahead for them with Lisa Regan at the wheel.

Local Girl Missing (Detective Josie Quinn Book 15) is available on August 11th. Order your copy today! You do not want to miss this 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ page-turner!

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for this outstanding book by Lisa Regan. Local Girl Missing kept me on the edges of my seat the entire time I was reading it!

"Where is it"? What is it? That is the question throughout this story.

Josie Quinn and Noah Farley are returning from their long delayed honeymoon driving through thick fog on a mountain road in Denton, Pennsylvania. They have decided to pull over and wait until the fog has burned off when suddenly a girl runs out in front of their car. Josie barely misses her. They stop the car and get out. They hear music and then they spot another car. Another girl is on the ground and a man is straddling her with his hands on her throat strangling her and yelling "Where is it? Where the hell is it"?

They run to help the girl. There is an empty purse and it's contents spilled on the ground. The man gets up and runs away. While Noah goes to check on the girl Josie gives chase to the man. When they get to a cliff he jumps into the Roaring Creek below.

Back at the car Josie learns that the girl on the ground, Dina Hale, is dead. The other girl, the one who ran away, is Alison Mills. The two girls were on their way to work as waitresses at a local hotel. Why were they attacked? What could the man have wanted? It is all hands on deck as they search for Alison and the man who jumped into the Roaring Creek.

As they investigate they learn that there had been a previous burglary at Dina's house. Nothing had been taken but apparently the burglars had been searching for something. Then another hotel staffer turns up dead. His home had been searched too. What is it that is so important people are dying.

There are lots of twists and turns as Josie investigates. Some surprises along the way. This story will keep you turning the pages as you try and figure out along with Josie what it is that people are so desperate to find.

Book #15 in the Detective Josie Quinn series.

Wowser!!! Now that’s how you start a book!!! This is emotional and tense.. right off the bat. Detective Josie Quinn and her husband Noah are driving home from their honeymoon.. it’s a foggy night, they pull over. SURPRISE!!! 😳 They happen upon a male attacker that leaves one lifeless body of a girl and another gone missing. Josie’s adrenaline (and mine!) and detective instinct immediately kick into overdrive!!! 👮🏻‍♀️🏁🏎 It’s a mad race to find the girl, and catch the killer!!! The case travels with high-octane speed into corruption, murder and a dark motive. Believe me you’ll never guess it (I love all that suspense drumming through me!!!) Another STELLAR book LR!!!

✔️crackerjack female detective
✔️fast-paced
✔️suspenseful, gripping and twisty
✔️can be read as a standalone
✔️bar-none one of the BEST crime thriller-mystery SERIES OUT!!!

Once again Lisa Regan hits it out of the park! Each time that I start a new Josie Quinn I wonder if this will be the one that doesn't feel original and hold my attention. Well, 15 books in and it still hasn't happened! Investigations and family/friend dynamics just get better and better. This is a layered and twisty story. Just when you think you know ... you don’t. Local Girl Missing can be read as a stand-alone because the case itself isn't personal this time around, but you will be missing out on the dynamics of the characters and their backgrounds. The whole series is excellent and definitely worth your time! The story starts strong and continues to stay that way as you wonder what is really going on. As always, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you turning those pages late in the night. The writing flows and there is just something about the style that makes it very hard to put down. Not to be missed!

Wow, wow, wow! Dynamite and explosive from beginning to end! Lisa Regan has become one of my top 5 authors. I eagerly await anything she is writing.

Josie and Noah are coming back from their honeymoon when they come upon an incident on the side of the road. Two girls, twists and turns and secrets to die for. You can absolutely read this as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend the entire series.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Local Girl Missing' by Lisa Regan.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Lisa Regan, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 11th August 2022.

This is the fourth book I have read by this author. It is the fifteenth book in the 'Detective Josie Quinn' series. It can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'Her Deadly Touch' which is the twelfth book in the series, 'The Drowning Girls' which is the thirteenth book in this series and 'Watch Her Disappear' which is the fourteenth book in this series. I would highly recommend them all whether read as standalones or in order as a whole series.

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful cover and intriguing sounding synopsis and title. I am a huge fan of Lisa and if this is half as good as 'Her Deadly Touch', 'The Drowning Girls' and 'Watch Her Disappear' it is guaranteed to be a page turner. The synopsis stated that this book is 'Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine'. I am a huge fan of Angela Marsons so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of 59 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Pensylvannia, USA 🇺🇸

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Detective Josie Quinn and "Pea" . The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

Well, Well, Well Lisa you have done it again!!! Another absolute mind blowing page turner!!!

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that captivates the readers attention and places them right in the centre of the action. The cover and synopsis suited the storyline perfectly. Lisa writes in such engrossing and engaging way that I become completely absorbed in the storyline.

As soon as I started reading this book I fell straight back into the storyline from 'the end of 'Watch Her Disappear' as of I had just finished it. I have read well over 100 books since then which just goes to show how much of an affect on me and how memorable Lisa's books are.

The storyline was very fast paced, absolutely nerve-racking and heart racing and kept me consistently on the edge of my seat. I was biting my nails and turning the pages until I finished it in one sitting. This book is ram packed with drama, murder, tension, red herrings, suspense, action, drugs, secrets and I could go on. This book has everything and more that you want in a crime thriller. It is unique and realistic as well as being fast paced. There was constantly something happening and it left me questioning myself throughout the book.I believe this was one of the most fast paced and action packed books in this series so far especially considering who was involved and how much was going on. The scene at the end I was trying not too close my eyes like I would in a film!! Madness but OMG iit was sooo tense and my heart was absolutely pounding, I don't think there's much left of my nails now either lol!!! Lisa and Josie what the hell are you doing to me!!! I never did guess who was involved so a huge congratulations Lisa!!! It is getting harder and harder to surprise me but you had me hook, line and sinker!!! I cannot wait to get my hands on all previous and future books of yours!!!

It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

Although this is the fifteenth book in the series I had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

Clear your schedules before picking this up as you will not be able to put it down!!!

I read approximately half of this book on kindle and listened to approximately half on audio book. I must also give a huge congratulations to the narrator Kate Handford who not only brought the storyline to life by really portraying the emotions through his voice but by doing absolutely fantastic impressions of males and females so a HUGE congratulations Kate!! I cannot imagine that this was anywhere near an easy feat!!! I am looking forward to discovering more books read by yourself as you definitely have a perfect "book" voice!! I sometimes struggle to absorb the storyline through an audio book but if you are the same as me I can promise you will not have that problem with this amazing narrator!!

I absolutely loved meeting all the characters again and it really felt like I was meeting up with old friends I got to know them so well in the last book! I absolutely love Josie's down to earth personality. Josie has suffered a horrific loss and instead of being the type or person to let it either overwhelm her or the type who completely gets on with life and forgets she is in the middle. Not only is Josie a strong female lead but Gretchen is also a fantastic female model and I love the bond between the two women. They make an absolutely fantastic team and the dynamic between not only Josie and Gretchen is spot on but also with them and Noah, Mettner, Amber and Chief Chitwood. I was pleased that we have seen a completely different side to Chief Chitwood since 'Watch Her Disappear' and, although I liked him anyway, it has definitely made me feel "closer" to him and I'm looking forward to seeing what he is going to do now!!! I absolutely love watching Noah and Josie's relationship continue to develop since their not so romantic honeymoon. They both deserve to be happy and make a perfect couple. I'm torn about what to think about Needle. I know what he has done in the past and disagree with that but I do think that he tries to, and has in my eyes, make it up to Josie and the last chapter definitely intrigued me. Will we be seeing more of Needle I wonder? I would love too I know that for sure. Every single character in this book "played their parts" perfectly to make an absolutely fantastic and memorable team who I love meeting every time I pick up one of Lisa's books.

Congratulations Lisa Regan on yet ANOTHER absolutely fantastic action packed book and this is why your in my top 10 crime author list and why this series is in my top 5 list!! Looking forward to the next episode in this amazing series 🥂

Overall a heart racing, page turning, addictive and unputdownable fast paced crime thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Genres covered in this book include Crime Fiction, Police Procedural, Organised Crime, Noir Crime, Serial Killers, Mystery and Crime Thriller amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Angela Marsons, Carol Wyer, P.J Tracy, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine and any fans of nail biting, edge of your seat psychological crime thrillers.

421 pages/11 hours 52 minutes on Audiobook.

This book is just £2.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

This book costs £20.03 as an audiobook on Amazon or 1 credit if you have Audible Premium Plus.

Local Girl Missing was my introduction to Lisa Regan’s work, and to Josie Quinn, mild-mannered detective. Homebound from a much too short honeymoon on a foggy, winding mountain road, Josie and her detective husband, Noah, encounter a murdered young woman (Dina Hale), her fleeing companion (Allison Mills), and a killer on the run. Not exactly the homecoming they envisioned.

Hindered by seemingly irrelevant, sparse clues, Josie believes her best shot at solving the murder lies in locating Allison. Discovering a local hotel employed both the girls, Josie begins her search there and thinks she may have struck pay dirt when stumbling upon a photo, which suggests Allison’s interest in working at the hotel wasn’t relegated to collecting a paycheck. But when someone puts a bullet through Allison’s suspected love interest’s head (Max Combs) after ransacking his house, Josie finds herself scratching her head and back at square one.

With Dina’s murderer in custody and believing the contents of a mysterious black bag stolen from Max holds the key to the murder and the escalating possibilities surrounding motive, Josie realizes she’s not dealing with a single suspect or random acts of violence.

Interspersed throughout the novel is a somewhat disturbing secondary story involving a mysterious girl, which adds an additional layer of mystery. Because Local Girl Missing is a solid whodunit, mystery buffs will eagerly embrace Ms. Regan’s latest book. Those craving fast-paced action may find the pacing a bit slow, exceedingly at times, though most will find their patience rewarded in the end. Much appreciation to Lisa Regan, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the ARC.

It’s always a joy to pick up the next instalment of the Detective Josie Quinn series and this one was a cracker ! Loads and loads going on and full of unexpected twists Lisa Regan just pulls you into the story right from the off and as always I was gripped both with the plot and being back with all my favourites in the team.
This has been a series that never disappoints at all it has never gotten stale it’s always lived up to all expectations and throughout every book I have never found my mind drifting and that’s some going and takes quality writing !
Superbly crafted I don’t know how you keep doing it Lisa but long may it continue, another 5 star read for me !
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Where do I start? We're 15 books deep into the Josie Quinn series and you'd think Lisa would have nothing left to surprise me with, but that is never the case. No matter what I'm expecting, she flips me on my ear almost from the get-go, and in the case of Local Girl Missing, it was from the first paragraph. Like a steamroller, one page morphs into the next and you can't put it down.

Josie and Noah are returning from their honeymoon (Finally!) when a case literally falls into their lap, or in this case, streaks past them like a shrieking banshee. Bewildered, Josie and Noah pull over to offer aid, but the girl has gone missing.

I know what you're thinking, another book about a missing girl, but it's so not about just a missing girl. She's barely the tip of the iceberg. An iceberg that simmers below the town and lives of the people of Denton. Those who know, know, but those who don't are in danger of running afoul of some not so, shall we say, generous men. These men aren't afraid to kill for what they want and Josie and her team are on the chopping block. If they want to save themselves, they're going to have to find the missing girl.

Alison knows things she shouldn't. When those things get her friend killed, she's not going to put herself at risk by showing back up on the radar. If she wants to be free, she has to figure out a way to get the men what they want, even though she doesn't know what they want or where it is.

The cast of characters in Local Girl Missing is vast and varied, but there is one old character you'll remember from Josie's childhood. I absolutely love it when Lisa throws someone in from Josie's past to see how she reacts to the person now that she's an adult. Sometimes, I am disappointed by Josie's reaction, and sometimes, like in this case, I'm thrilled to see her mature and grow and approach the person through different colored lenses. Maybe it's the strong, consistent love she has with Noah now or maybe it's the lessons she learned from losing Lisette, or both, but Josie is changing and it's for the better.

Josie, Noah, Gretchen, Mett, and the Chief are on their game with this case and they're not leaving any stone unturned. They suspect they're dealing with a criminal unlike any they have before and their ducks must be in a row if they all want to survive to see Harris's sixth birthday party.

Book 15 has so many plot twists and shocking reveals that going into too much detail in a review will spoil one of them, no matter how hard I try not to. So I won't, but I will say, technically, this book is flawless in its twisting and winding plot from page one to the last. Josie and Noah are growing and changing in their relationship and starting to take much-needed breaks TOGETHER rather than apart. The chief is continuing on his journey of self-improvement since book 14 and I'm excited to see if his new plan gets off the ground for the Denton PD! If it does, we might have the addition of some new characters before the end of this series. Don't walk, run to your favorite retailer and grab Local Girl Missing, but be prepared to keep turning the pages because just when you're ready to take a break, Lisa will hit you will a twist that will keep you reading long into the night.

The fifteenth book to feature Josie Quinn and her team and what a wild ride. One girl is found dead and another is missing. It is upto Josie and her team to find the killer and the missing girl. Full of misdirection and plenty of red herrings. A real rollercoaster of a crime thriller and thoroughly entertaining. This author has done it again!!!

4.5 stars

Local Girl Missing by Lisa Regan is the 15th in the Detective Josie Quinn series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background:    (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Detective Josie Quinn has had a rough life,  and she still grieves the loss of her beloved grandmother, who was the only one she could rely on. As a baby, Josie had been kidnapped, and passed off as another woman's child.  Recently she has found her real parents, as well as her twin sister - news reporter Trinity Payne,  and her brother Patrick.   She works with the Denton Police Department, and her team consists of Detective Noah Fraley (her husband), Detective Gretchen Palmer, and Detective Finn Mettner (who is dating Press Secretary Amber Watts).  Their boss is Chief Bob Chitwood.

My Synopsis:    (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
On the way home from their honeymoon, Josie and Noah find themselves creeping along the winding mountain road in dense fog.  Suddenly,  a young girl runs out in front of them and off into the forest.   Then they interrupt a man on the ground strangling another young girl.  Noah goes to her assistance, while Josie chases the man.

The two girls, 18-year old Dina, and 17-year old Alison, were best friends, both waitresses at the local hotel.  Dina didn't survive the strangulation, but Josie is determined to find Alison.

However, that is harder than she thought it would be.  It seems like Alison is hiding, and she may have good reasons for it.  Apparently she may have something that more than one person is looking to find, and killing to locate it isn't beyond the realm of possibilities.

My Opinions:
Each book in the series could be stand-alone, but you'd miss so much of the characters back-stories....

I really think the series is getting better - and after 15 books, that is a little surprising!

There were definitely a couple of twists that I did not see coming, and the story progressed at a good pace, making it a fairly fast read.

My only complaint would be the political/mob involvement, but that's just because I don't like those topics, and I try to stay away from reading books of that genre.  However, the rest of this book was so good, that I barely batted an eye.

Definitely looking forward to the next in the series!

Dang it.

I’m done.

From the very first page I have stepped right back into Denton, PA. This book gave me whiplash. It grabbed me from the first page and never let go. I’m still lost in Denton.

This was fast paced, high octane mystery. And as usual Josie is full on submerged. I loved the steam between her and Noah. That connection. Boom 💥

I also love her character growth and her total badassness. She is so smart. The way the author writes how her mind puts things together is so cool. This was a layered, complicated and twisted story. Just when you think you know. You don’t know Jack. It’s all so intricate and so dang great. Teenagers…that’s all I’ll say.

Every single book this author takes us on a journey and man I’m so here for it. This series never gets old. It keeps getting better and better. And everyone needs to read it. It is one of the best crime thriller series out there. It is a MUST READ.

*Explosivise*

This instalment sees Josie and Noah on the way home from their belated honeymoon. In true Josie style nothing is ever straightforward. It is an extremely foggy evening and before they can make a decision to stop re the fog a young girl goes flying past them.

As they depart the car walking through debris in the woods they happen upon a young girl laying on the ground with the perpetrator still attacking her. Of course as they try and tackle him he flees while Josie gives chase Noah tries to save the girl but they are too late. They call in the team and the story gets murkier and seedier

Josie and her team will stop at nothing to find the young girl and the perpetrator, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

All roads lead to a particular hotel where both girls worked and when they request the cctv they are surprised that it has all been erased. There is murder and intrigue and one or two vital piece of evidence missing, to help them understand what is going on, there is even a mob boss involved.

The team are dealing with some dangerous criminals who kill and torture people as casually as if it means nothing.

They have not met Josie and her team, who will let no one stand in their way of uncovering the truth

Very Addictive

Detective Josie Quinn and her new husband Noah Fraley, also a police officer, are driving home after their delayed honeymoon. Driving slow due to intense fog, they spot a girl running. Of course, they stop. They see a man attacking a teenage girl. This is only the start of a very difficult case for Josie. Sadly, the girl was murdered and her name was Dina. It is her best friend Alison who was running and has now has gone missing.

Not only does the young girl, Alison, remain missing, causing her parents real terror, Josie wonders why the girl did not return home. Josie is quite concerned as to why they are having so much trouble locating her. Furthermore, Dina’s autopsy revealed something shocking, thus increasing the urgency to find Alison as soon as possible.

More questions than answers plague Josie as she realizes that she and her team are in a race against time. As they are begin to interview the man who murdered Dina, at first his crime does not match the man he portends to be. Quite naturally, Josie realizes that there are some deeply hidden facts that instigated the murder, and realize that Alison is most certainly in grave danger.

Like pieces of the most complicated of jigsaw puzzles, the pieces of evidence surrounding these crimes just will not fit into place. This installment in the Detective Josie Quinn series is fast-paced, multi-layered and illustrates the incredible talent of deduction that Josie has as she unravels the nuances of this difficult case.

There is mention of Josie’s painful past, and that would make this book work as a stand-alone. However, Josie’s story is sensitive and her growth, her marriage to Noah, and her relationship with her family all evolve at a wonderful pace as each and every book in this series is written for those of us who are addicted to this compelling series. Lisa Regan is a true master and did not miss a beat with Local Girl Missing, proving that this stellar series is as strong as ever.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Returning home after a week long belated honeymoon Detective Josie Quinn and her husband Nate stumble across an active crime scene in this latest instalment in the thrilling Detective Josie Quinn series; and this one is a cracker! That hits you from the start and never lets go.

As two teenage girls Dina Hale and Alison Mills are attacked at the side of the road as they wait for the fog to lift. But whilst Alison is able to escape, Dina isn't so lucky and as Nate and Josie set out to hunt for Dina's killer and search for Alison they have plenty of questions.

Only none of the answers make any sense, and when they learn Dina was recently tortured and the supervisor at the hotel where both girls worked part time was murdered, they begin to wonder what these teenagers were involved in.

And as the bodies piled up and the search for Alison intensified I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, and honestly I had no idea who was involved even when part of the story clicked I still couldn't work out who was ultimately responsible.

But OMG did I have a great time finding out and with so many twists and moments I didn't see coming. This truly was a compelling and unputdownable read. That I'd 100% recommend to others.

Another brilliant book in this great crime series.
Josie and Noah are travelling back from their honeymoon and hit some nasty fog. A girl suddenly runs out in front of them so they pull over, only to find a man attacking another girl.
When they get back they get everyone out looking for the girl and try and work out what was happening.
The other girl doesn’t make it so they can’t get any information from her, just a car that was abandoned seems to belong to the man involved.
This is a fast paced crime thriller with lots going on throughout the book.
Josie and the team really have their hands full with this case.
Another great read in this brilliant series.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

This is book number 15 in the Josie Quinn series and her books just seem to get better and better. This one starts off with Josie And Noah driving home after honeymoon in the fog. They can’t see so they pull over and end up at a crime scene with one dead body and one girl missing. Bam! That’s how you start a book as you are intrigued instantly to find out what led to this.

I love her books because they are so fast paced and full of action. You just need to clear your schedule as once you start you won’t want to do anything else. You have no idea where this story is going but you know twists are coming so sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.

I can’t recommend her books enough. Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for my e-arc and this is my honest review.
