Nella is the type of heroine that I really enjoy. I love the clumsy, always getting into some kind of situation, heroine that is fierce, protective and loyal to a fault. Despite her tendency to find trouble, she’s smart and it’s the fact that she’s outside her comfort zone that results in all the trouble she stumbles into.
Fletch was fun to watch as he attempts to deal with Nella and put thoughts of her out of his mind. I love when a hero is in this position and watching when the switch flips and he realizes he’s been a real jerk and sets out to correct his rude behavior. He is definitely alpha, all the way and often makes decisions and takes action without Nella’s input. The fact she is more than capable of dealing with him in those moments makes this couple all the more entertaining.
This starts off fast and never falters. The mystery was unique and there are things that happened that had me totally engaged and refusing to set this aside. I really enjoyed the way this story unveiled itself in such an organic manner. The steam level is intense between Nella and Fletch and the ending was PERFECT!!! I couldn’t ask for a better future for this couple.

This is a novella but it feels like so much more, mainly due to the fact Kathryn and Daniel had been in a relationship prior to the beginning of this story. That carries a lot of weight and validates their emotions and responses.
I loved the way Daniel had perceived his relationship with Kathryn the first time around as well as his reactions to her when they were reunited a few months later. Any hero that is possessive, jealous and above all, protective, is a hero I will always recommend. Add in some smexy moves and all my check-boxes have been marked.
While this is primarily about the relationship between Kathryn and Daniel, it has its standard Katie Reus suspense and mystery threaded throughout it making it even more of a page turner. I gobbled this down in one sitting and was immediately hungry for the rest of the series.
With action and drama sprinkled throughout, secondary characters I can’t wait to get more of and the sizzling chemistry with this couple, I highly recommend this!

Trunk is broody and a bit standoffish, especially when it comes to Jaimie. But when he lets himself take a chance with her, he falls fast and hard. With a strong protective instinct, he often makes decisions before discussing them with her and they have a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to manage this issue.
Jaimie is a strong independent heroine but she’s also got scars from the way her ex treated her. She doesn’t hesitate to let Trunk know when she’s feeling some of the same ways she did with her ex.
I especially loved all the ovary exploding moments when Trunk interacts with Jaimie’s son, River. He is absolutely perfect with him and River is stinking adorable. Kids are often written as a filler but not so here. River’s character was just as developed as Trunk and Jaimie.
The chemistry between this couple absolutely sizzles and the evolution of it from physical desire to something more was pure magic...no games, just good old fashioned romance. This has a lot of drama both in the club and for Trunk and Jaimie individually. I love the way this author layers her plot to leave you guessing as to what’s going on or who the bad guy is.

Just a look at her picture is enough to send his protective instincts into overdrive. Once he meets her face to face, he’s completely gone for the sweet innocent woman who is in a madman’s crosshairs.
Hadley had a rough upbringing and now that she’s met her brother and father she’s finding a contentment she never knew, even if they are a bit overprotective. When she spills coffee on a handsome stranger she immediately feels attraction to him, not knowing that he’s been monitoring her actions. As they become closer Hadley has stars in her eyes not realizing that Axel is keeping a deep dark secret from her. One that has the potential to rip her heart out.
I loved Axel so much! He was so totally in it with Hadley. Every step he took, every decision he made was to keep her as long as he could before the inevitable would happen. Once his secret was revealed there was no way she would want to be with him and my heart hurt at his assurance that all would be over when that day came. And that day must come soon, and he’s the one who must reveal all his secrets to her, quickly. That was just additional angst to an already fraught situation.
Hadley was so sweet. She deserved all the goodness life could offer and she has fought hard to become something more. When things take a drastic turn she never loses her control. She may not be able to physically take down a threat, but she keeps her emotions in check and handles each change in her perceptions with a strength that was compelling to read about. She was the perfect woman for Axel and together they were amazing.
Each book in this series has gotten better and Innocent Target is no exception. Definitely my favorite of the group at this point. Axel and Hadley both checked all my boxes for a great hero and heroine. This is a fast paced read with lots of action, well developed secondary characters that added to the plot rather than bog it down, so much steam you’re going to need a fan, and an ending that will leave you with a happy and contented sigh.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Holy freakin’ Hades!!! This book! There are just no words! This book stirred up so many emotions then one by one plucked them from their hiding placesHoly freakin’ Hades!!! This book! There are just no words! This book stirred up so many emotions then one by one plucked them from their hiding places and flung them out in front of me to face them in all their messy glory. It was a painfully beautiful journey and I swear to any and all entities that I will never forget this amazing story!
My suggestion is to avoid reviews that give too much away. While it’s not a matter of constant twists and turns, the best part of this book is never knowing what’s going to happen next. Just settle back and let this author introduce you to her characters. They are incredible. Broken and imperfect but exactly what they needed to be to face their inner demons. Then be prepared to hold on emotionally as she takes you on a ride through a desperate and desolate plain where there is no hope to be found at its conclusion. Even the sparks of promise you glimpse along the way will always be overshadowed by the despair these characters live with.
This is a wonderfully written story full of depth. The angst is off the charts, the romance a welcome reprieve in the darkness and the secondary characters gaining a place in my heart without consuming the story. There are not enough stars for this book and I’m already feeling the mega book hangover Crazy Madly Deeply is going to leave me with.

Violet and Eli were competitors at everything since the first day of kindergarten. When graduation takes Eli in one direction and Violet’s plans take a serious detour, they each live their life with what they’ve been dealt. But with Eli’s return to town and the fact he’s now her co-worker, the competition is on again.
”Besides, dear God, Violet is pretty when she’s mad. She’s pretty all the time, but anger sparks something in her eyes that makes her light up like a human flame, burning and flickering from the inside, dangerous and alluring all at once.”
This couple were so cute despite their constant bickering. As the story progresses, the arguments change into a fun, flirty banter that I loved. The chemistry between these two absolutely sizzles and the gradual change from enemies to lovers to more was wonderful. There really isn’t a lot of drama here, and what we are given is relatively low angst. I loved how things worked out for them and the epilogue was perfect. I know we’ll be seeing more of Eli and Violet as we get more of the Loveless boys and I cannot wait!

I really enjoyed the antagonism between Livvy and Gareth. She was fighting him every step of the way and he was just biding his time. With a dark, mystique surrounding him, I couldn’t help but be pulled into his story. Waiting to learn his backstory was agony and once it was revealed, dear lord, no wonder there is a sense of darkness around him.
Gareth was intense in his desire for Livvy. He wasn’t as forward in his “mine” mentality as Alpha was, but he had some serious mojo to back his emotions up. What they shared was not the stuff of fairy tales, it was emotional, deep, lusty, and forever. I loved what they had together.
While there were still some fun moments between the sisters as well as their significant others, I personally felt this lacked the initial spark of humor that were found earlier in the previous books. This felt a bit darker. But then, Gareth is a Grim and once you get to know him, it’s obvious why there’s a heavier feel to this story.

Rose has captured my attention from her first appearance in the series. She is weak and unable to Oh my gosh! This book totally stole my heart!
Rose has captured my attention from her first appearance in the series. She is weak and unable to practice magic. It’s obvious that she is slowly dying. I couldn’t wait to find out what her and Ronan’s story was going to hold. And holy heck. It was incredible.
Things start out so dark, heavy and angsty. I couldn’t put this down as I had to see what was going to happen. It wasn’t long before this story took a turn, then a twist and before I knew it, I found myself somewhere I never expected to be. And loving every moment of it.
Ronan is definitely on my top favorite hero list. He’s unable to feel emotion and yet it’s obvious that everything is right below the surface and it’s all a matter of time for it to burst out. I was on pins and needles as his journey to falling in love (or recognizing that he was already in love?) moved me through the story. His protective instincts where Rose was concerned was pure alpha goodness to the 100th degree. I couldn’t help but grin at times at his reactions.
This is filled with danger and drama along with a level of steam that will make you blush if someone looks over your shoulder while you're reading certain parts. While this can be read as a standalone, I recommend the previous books in the series because the familial connection is so much a part of the story.

Vic is the type of character that I can totally get behind. She’s tough without being hard and she’s struggling with a lot of life issues. My heart hurt for her so much.
Bill was the perfect partner for Vic. He knew when to step in and he knew when he had to give her her lead. I loved his protective instincts.
While this has a lot of drama, danger and angst, at the heart of it all are these characters and the ability this author has of making them feel very real to me. They are fun and smexy, but each has traits that make them less than ideal but perfect for each other. Ms. Barker reigns supreme when it comes to mature romance.

Emmeline and Will had a partnership rather than a marriage and yet with the temporary addition of George and Rose to the household they began to see each other in a whole new light. I began to fall in love with each of them even as their eyes opened up to the uniqueness that they saw in each other. I couldn’t help but cheer them on along the way.
The children were definitely “the darlings” of the story. They pretty much stole every scene they were in. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the antics and reactions to the world around them. However, there were times when things were not humorous and my heart hurt for them, especially George as his understanding of the world was much more jaded than Rose’s.
I was surprised how things turned out as I never saw it happening in quite that way. While the romance element does not consume the storyline and the heat level is non-existent, I never missed the steam nor the fact that this story is not about this couple alone. I was enthralled from the beginning and could not stop reading it once I started.

I wasn’t sure if Christopher was going to make the cut, but holy heck…he totally won me over and wormed his way into my heart. I will not be forgetting him for a long while.
Christopher had a lot to learn as he set out on his backpacking trip across Europe. I thought for sure he’d throw in the mini towel early on, but he stuck it out despite the smells and crazy characters. I began to fall in love with this hero that on the surface didn’t offer much in the way of any emotional depth.
While he was attracted to Hayden from the beginning, this is not the type of storyline where the hero immediately fell in love with the heroine and wanted only her. Instead, he slowly began to transition from the playboy he was into someone that became an incredible hero. Watching it was hilarious, moving and definitely sexy.
I’m really not about the heroine, but Hayden did make her mark with me as she was such a great heroine. When she was struggling, I felt the pain and when she was happy, I was just as ecstatic. She was the perfect counterpoint to Christopher as she was honest and upfront with a background that had given her a sense of calm that she brought into her relationship with him.
When this couple faced a major conflict, I sobbed at the result. I worried that the end was going to be contrived to make things work or that the author would force Hayden into a position that went against who she was at heart. Not so. Along the way to their happy ever after, I found myself crying even more as Christopher took a step that I had been hoping for all along but was unsure of the outcome. While I had plenty of tears in the last part of the book, I had so many laugh out loud moments leading up to it. Literally laugh out loud as in a burst of laughter that I couldn’t contain. So glad I was alone when that happened.
This is a lengthy book and it was difficult to set aside. I found myself thinking about it during those times and anxious to get back into the story. It’s filled with secondary characters that were fun and brought their own humor to the page. That included his family, particularly his brothers as well as Hayden’s father who I loved as he got to know Christopher. These are the types of characters that I’d love to see again in a novella that updates us on this couple’s relationship.
All of that to say, I absolutely LOVED this book and I didn’t even touch on what were some of the steamiest scenes I’ve read in a while. Definitely a fun, sexy, emotional story well worth reading.

I absolutely loved how this was written from Edgar's point of view only. It just does something for me when an author does this. Let's say it starts with chills and only grows from there. I immediately connected with E and found myself experiencing all that he was going through as he struggled with seeing Delilah for the first time in ten years. What follows shows what an amazing hero he was.
While Delilah is holding onto a secret, E is determined to win her heart again. She definitely made him work for it and I enjoyed every moment of it. Watching him work down a list of what to do was fun and cute.
This had my emotions responding from tears to laughter and all within short periods of time. I fell completely in love with not just Edgar and Delilah, but E’s brothers as well. The premise of this story and E’s background was unique and fits perfectly for the readers that aren't a fan of second chances. I couldn’t ask for a better way to split and reunite a couple. Overall, a great read and just my first by this author as I intend to dig into her backlist.

In the past, I’ve been concerned that I would dislike a book by Ms. Perry because of the trope or the blurb. And I’ve always been blown away by how much she could make me fall in love with something I never believed I would. Garnet Flats takes first place. I mean, really. The blurb just screamed at me to stay away and oh my gawd it was hard to crack it open. But by all that is holy in Romancelandia she won my heart again!
This was filled with emotions, angst and sizzling heat. I couldn’t put it down!!! Talia and Foster were amazing separately and together. My heart hurt for both of them due to their past experience and how that was affecting their current actions and decisions. I found myself crying at one moment, yelling the next and turning my A/C down to handle the steam.
With a great pace that never lagged or became repetitive, I read this straight through. Of course, there was no way I was closing it as I needed to see these characters’ broken souls healed. I loved every emotional churning moment here and yet this author did not make the angsty churn last longer than I could bear making this an incredible read.

While I know there are those who live with such a problem and it’s not a laughing matter, Lemon’s story was filled with plenty of laughter and shenanigans. Of course, her family adds to it as well, as does a furry new pet and even a vacuum.

Art was the perfect counterpoint to Lemon as he quickly picked up on her struggles and was eager to set things right if he could. I loved how he helped to expand her sugar tooth in creative ways. He was just as fun as Lemon and sexy as all get out. We don’t have his point of view, but I’m going to believe that he fell fast and hard for her at first sight of her and her sniffing.

This is a fast paced read with some racy humor and wonderful characters even beyond the hero and heroine. The drama is pretty non-existent until the very end and is then quickly dealt with. Overall, this is a fun read, perfect for a summer indulgence.

This is an angsty read with a lot of drama between this couple. Leon definitely has the darker, anti-hero flair going on here. Some of his actions hurt my heart even as they hurt Violet and yet I still liked him despite his actions. He was dealing with his own emotions and that went a long way to redeeming his behavior.
Violet was stuck in a position that limited her ability to do more than what was laid out before her. However, the way she reacted to some of Leon’s actions is exactly what was needed and I loved that those reactions affected him.
This was a lengthier read compared to the first book and it moves from the dissension between Leon and Violet to a place where they are at least communicating and working towards something more stable. The journey is the story until the end when there is a bit of conflict and additional drama to stir the pot. The true test is how they respond to their new issues. I loved them even more at that point.
The chemistry between Leon and Violet was absolutely nuclear and required the use of a personal fan to cool me down. Characters from the previous books make an appearance and also add a touch of humor. Overall, a great conclusion to this duet.

While I’m usually all about the hero, there is no denying that Maggie was just the type of person I’d call a good friend to not love everything about her. She really knew how to respond to Silas’ flirtatious banter in a way that had me grinning from ear to ear. With a unique career and a strong work ethic, I was totally entranced with her story from the very beginning. I immediately needed to know how everything was going to play out for her.
Silas was amazing! He was stinkin’ cute with his quips and forthright attitude regarding what he wanted from Maggie. What might have been just lighthearted flirting, caught on fast, and he was soon sincerely wooing the woman of his dreams. He was straight up swoony with his actions to win her over.
I absolutely loved this fun, lighthearted read with a storyline that pulled me in and characters that attached themselves to my heart. Silas’ family were hilarious adding to the quick, witty banter that fills this story. So too do a few other characters that added dimension to the story along with some moments that warmed my heart. This was a longer read but had a fast pace. The angst was low and while the chemistry between Maggie and Silas sizzles when given the leeway, it does not consume the storyline.

Overall, I loved this cute, fun story and despite the perfect epilogue, I hope we get to see some of them and possibly the town, in the future.

I found it to be heartachingly familiar to my own journey with my dad. Brooke’s unwavering patience in a situation that can cut like a blade was inspirational, causing me to look back at my own experience and compare the two. Unfortunately, Brooke was traveling her journey alone and my heart hurt for her because of that fact.

Once Luca entered the picture, he helped to carry her emotional load as she was able to lay much of her concerns on him. And oh my, what an incredible hero to make himself available to her in those times. I adored pretty much everything about Luca but nothing as much as his loyalty and dedication to his family.
This was a fast paced book that dealt with some hard issues on both Luca and Brooke’s side. They didn’t fly through it without a problem, but they dealt with it in a mature style that made me love them even more as a couple. Luca’s family was amazing, especially his daughter Fanny, and I’m hoping we get more from them in the future.

While I’m not a fan of stories that involve recovering from any type of substance abuse, I have to admit that this one was a little easier to read. The ugly, hard core, bottom of the barrel recovery had already been dealt with and Callie was currently dealing with how to live life as a recovering addict, which is even harder but for me, as stated, easier to read.
I didn’t know if I was going to like either one of these characters, but before long, they had both shown traits that I could connect with. Danny ends up being everything I love in a hero and actually more due to his actions and reactions to a recovering Callie. He was definitely there to protect her, even when that meant allowing her to find her own way.
This had a lot of the Haven family, along with plenty of drama and action surrounding Callie. The chemistry between Danny and her was steamy and I loved watching them both deal with it from its first stages to the point where they yielded. Overall, this was a beautiful story and I was so glad to have a chance to jump back into this world again.

Iris and Pierce together were pure perfection. I adored the friend-zone that Pierce had to deal with. His disgruntlement with the situation was so freaking cute, I couldn’t help but giggle each time it came up. But holy heck, when things start to head in a not friendly manner, he didn’t hesitate to act on it.
Iris played a large part in the cute factor of this story. She had a rough history and a scary time of having to deal with it popping up unexpectedly. But there were moments when she released the part of herself that was a spitting, fighting cat and I loved watching her try to bring someone twice her size down and the consequent actions Pierce took to control the situation. As I’ve said, it was just all so freaking cute.
This storyline was quite unique, centering around a topic that I’ve only read about once or twice before. I loved it all the more because it’s a rare find. Iris and Pierce’s story was masterfully crafted with characters that had me laughing, questioning, and cursing all along the way. With an epilogue that left me smiling and sated, I nevertheless wondered how long until the next amazing Wilde boy would be out.
