The author did a good job at telling his story! He delivers humor, meaningful insight, and really grabbed me at his ability to write with realism. While reading and after reading I started going to the Racing Forum online (as he described in the book) and started looking at what he was writing about. I can say Mr. Zolotow reintroduced me to a whole world of race track betting. I spent a lot of time at the dog track in Daytona Beach, Florida from about age 11 to 17. My brother and me went with my father and his friends every weekend during the summer. We would eat hot dogs, goof around, and just watch the dogs run. As I got older my father taught me how to read the program and how to place bets. This book brought back all those memories!
Betting to win, place, and show? Betting a wheel, exacta, or a daily double? He explains how to read the stats, how to interpret the program, and how to successfully begin handicapping. He tells you how to be a smart handicapper: doing your homework, doing your research, and how to play the odds.
To me this book will remain as one of my favorites. It was fun to read and I never lost focus on what I was reading. I would recommend it for something different. Thanks!...more
