At least that would happen with most books. Thankfully enough, Seven Psychics isn't most books. Though the first couple chapters which are basically the pages used to introduce the heroine to the reader were emotionless and bland, the further I read it became clear that such boring appeal was a reflection of the character herself. Before her life gets turned on it's ass, Lexi Levine is basically a husk of a person with no real feelings or emotions outside of her love for her father. Being that she was raised in a strict military lifestyle, with 'strange' atypical hobbies for a teen, and the lack of a social life, is it any wonder? As the book progressed and the twists and challenges were thrust upon her life, the more interesting the story became. In the end I do not regret reading this book and happily enjoyed it. I have already purchased the next book in the series and I do recommend this book...more

The storyspinner is a a book with all the essentials that are necessary for a good read. There is drama and intrigue. Action and romance. Set in a time and place that is not the known world without being too strange and unfamiliar so that it is difficult to connect with. There is magic and honor, beasts and monsters. A handsome man with a stiff, closed off personal that is mistaken for snobbery. A beautiful maiden who is less soft and more rough and tumble without losing what makes her beautiful. There is an evil villain who is both horrible and yet nothing compared to those who back him. And then there is a ragtag group of heroes who defy those that would delay them, fight off those who would harm others and do what they must for all of good-kind.
All together, The Storyspinner is compelling story told in multiple views to create something worth your time. A worthy recommend in my book. ...more

Yes there are hot hot masculine men wanting to bang, and yes the heroine is a complex, complicated, imperfectly badass woman. And yes, there is blood, and murder, and death, and a whole lot of kickassery. All the makings of an entertaining read. But what makes this book go from a two or three star to a four to five is that though this book is for 'mature readers' due to it's sexual content and some abrasive scenes and languages, that is not all the book is about. Usually when I pick up a book like this it's sex and innuendo with a side of plot. If that. Ripper is not that. Sure this is a book full of hotness, muscles, and swoony eyes, and yes, there are two guys for our wonderful badass chick, but such conflict and sexual tension is not the center of the whole book, is not the center of our heroine's life. No. She is all bout her job and her life, and her past, her complexities in a plot that is equally as messy and tangled in the best of ways. Ripper is funny, and heart breaking, exciting and a worthy read. I recommend....more

Elite was a book I just had to read. This was one of those books where I read the synopsis and got immediately. It did not disappointment. Set in a college setting wouldn't exactly be accurate because Eagle Elite is not your typical college. It's that uniqueness that sets everything off immediately. From the get go life and lies and guys are all harsh and a slap in the face of a girl who had truly been sheltered her whole life. Though the good girl/bad boy thing isn't new or unique, the twist on their social history, lives, and culture is what makes this book interesting and exciting to read. Women as property, treated just better than prized pets and things could always get worse without a bit of protest from those held captive. Then Aya comes along. She is hot headed and feisty, smart and willing to do anything to get free. In a town where men are her enemy and the women think her a freak, who knew she could rely on the one man she can't even talk to. Correction. She can speak...he just doesn't say a word. This is an anxiety riddled, pulse pounding, stressful read. Being put into Aya's shoes, feeling her sense of urgency, her intense desire to be free with have you gripping the pages/screen until you force yourself to put it down just long enough to breathe. Then it will be back in your hands, your eyes soaking in every word up until the end. Awesome read. Worth it. Recommend from me....more

What. A depressing. Ass. BOOK. Holy crap folks. from start to finish this book just went from annoying to frustrating to clinically depressing. First ofWhat. A depressing. Ass. BOOK. Holy crap folks. from start to finish this book just went from annoying to frustrating to clinically depressing. First off, the main character, Eadlyn, was difficult if not completely impossible to like--I seriously almost didn't continue reading after the first chapter. She's the kind of girl i want to punch in her stuck up, snobby-nosed face. HOW, oh HOW is she America and Maxon's kid. Seriously. She is not only COMPLETELY materialistic, but you'd think someone with her parents would know how NOT to think so highly of herself. NOT open her big freaking mouth and just OFFEND people left and right. Superficial. Elitest. Egotistical. Trust me when I say I CAN GO ON! She is apparently SURROUNDED by AWESOME people, staff, friends, family, and yet THIS is what she is??? I sure as HELL wouldn't want her to be my queen. and she is certainly NOT my kind of heroine. Secondly, after all the SHIT America and Maxon went through in the first selection, Illea is STILL SHET! Crap. Shambles. (Actually, the situation they are dealing with is eerily familiar to certain situations around the US *Baltimore Riot cough cough*) I mean, damn! Do they ever catch a break??? And third, this First female run Selection SUCKS!!!!!! All work and very little to NO PLAY!!! So why then, you might ask, would I EVER give such a depressing book FIVE STARS???? Because it is that good. When it comes to YA, even the best books have trouble with character growth, with cookie-cutter character plots and storyline development. It is not so with The Heir. I'm not going to say Kiera Cass is a genius.... yet, but it takes awesome skills and masterful cajones to start off with THE main character being COMPLETELY unlikable and turning her into someone the reader ends up GRUDGINGLY liking.... A LOT, all the while showing and sharing a world that isn't any better for the privileged girl, and possibly even worse, than it had been for her mama. Not only does this book answer some of the questions of the life after the third book for America and Maddox but it show cases the not-so-fairy-tales of loving and being loved. It's not all rainbows and sugar treats. Just like having a great idea to get rid of prejudice and having ideals for a better Illea aren't easy as pie to implement. This is a multidimensional story with so much too it, it's almost exhausting to read. But the best part about it, is that even though it is just one hardship after another, there is an underline of hope and promise that will make you cheer and rally for that irritating heroine and her counter parts to succeed.
Basically, The Heir is even better than the first three. Definite Must Read and Highly Recommended. ...more
