I've been trying my best to find a balance between work, book reviews, and hobbies, and the one that suffered most was book reviews. Reading and reviewing this book is my comeback, and I was really hoping I'd start off on a good note. But nah. I love E. Lockhart's writing, because it never overwhelms the story, instead it's exactly that light approach that keeps me reading. In this book, however, I feel like her light approach to it took away from it. You can't do a character that's so complex and has so much trauma, and not back it up with stronger exposition. Between all the parallel universes we get a glimpse of, and how none of the stories actually feel complete or have a satisfying end, the only thing that could've potentially worked with this idea would've been a detailed character study. In my opinion, I didn't get that. I only got the beginnings of it. I wish I liked it more. E. Lockhart is always going to be an author I will admire because of her Ruby Oliver quartet, and how it changed my life. But this is the second time one of her books leaves me frustrated, so me and her writing are no longer besties. We're friends now, and I really hope we don't end up acquaintances....more

It was quite a lot more serious than I expected. I had an impression that this would be a fun and quick read, but it has it's layers, and they're pulled off in an okay manner. I don't know what it was about this book that didn't wow me, since theoretically this is exactly what I enjoy. Maybe it's cause I went in with expectations. Maybe it was that the books feels only half baked. But I think it mostly has to do with the fact that I hated the main character. With everything going on in her life, she still came out as someone I couldn't sympathize with. I wasn't looking for a likeable character (even though it's chick lit, and that's what we always get with chick lit), but I was looking for someone I could understand and feel for. I didn't get that. This book could've been so much more than it is. But I did enjoy some of the themes in it, which saved me from DNFing it.

This was an exceptionally enjoyable read for me. I really liked the characters. Trice was so perfectly developed and brought to the page. Nandy seemed to be set as an opposite to Trice, and I really liked their interactions. A lot in this book was well executed. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the characters, as well as the writing. The plot was okay, but the connection I felt to the characters allowed me to keep reading. I have to note though that the pacing didn’t work for me, it felt a bit inconsistent. However, I liked the story, and I really wanted to see how it would turn out in the end.

This was a very fun read for me. Belden writes in a style that I really enjoy, it feels fresh and light. Though the book tackled some heavy subjects, none of it was felt in the writing. The plot was paced well, and the way it progressed felt natural. The idea behind the book was beautifully executed. The characters were well developed and set up in a way that kept the book dynamic and entertaining. Though the characters aren’t relatable, straying from most books in the romance genre, Husband Material didn’t need to rely on that to make the book as enjoyable as it was. All it needed was the wit that Belden incorporated in it, and that was enough for me.

The romance in this story was set up really well. I enjoyed the pacing as well as the plot, I thought it was pulled off very well. It was entertaining throughout, I couldn't help but connect to the characters and was invested in the relationship until the very end. It was a fairly quick read, but a decent one, great for romance fans.

It barely kept my attention, I found myself skipping over parts and skimming through pages. From afar, it seems to be exactly what I'd enjoy, and wish I liked it more. But I'm sad to say it failed to pull me in, or even capture part of my attention. It wasn't for me.

A huge thanks to St. Martin's Press for the chance to be a part of this blog tour.
As you might know by now, the mere mention of Ireland is enough for me to be highly interested in a book. This time however, it wasn’t only that, it was also my prior experience with J.P. Monninger’s writing that had me excited to pick up Seven Letters. I loved the story it had to offer. It had a few twists in it, but it was heartwarming. I thought it was beautifully executed, I really enjoyed how it was laid out and paced. It was so well written, the descriptions of Ireland were masterful, and so vivid that they jumped from the page. The relationships set between the characters felt dynamic, which made the book even more entertaining. I was engrossed in the book from the beginning and I had a hard time putting it down, eager to find out what happened next. It’s an excellent romance read that you should definitely pick up.

But this book is the opposite of that, pun intended. The Opposite of Falling Apart is the best thing that's come from wattpad and I've had the pleasure of reading. It's written really well, even with the heavy subject matter, the paragraphs don't feel densely packed. I really enjoyed the way it was structured, and though I think that the time jumps could've been executed a bit better, it still worked for me. I thought the characters were really good, and though I wish the side characters had a bit more 'screen time', I feel like they were all presented realistically. There was a bit of going back and forth with the development, but with the characteristics given to the characters, it was understandable why it wasn't a straight line up. The best part of it all, I have to note, was the way anxiety was portrayed in the book. The conversations the two characters have about anxiety were candid, the way they process it is so close to how I do, and I couldn't help but enjoy those parts, as some of my feelings were being put into words. Overall, The Opposite of Falling Apart is a solid YA romance read. It was right up my alley, and I really enjoyed it.

At least it was that way for me. I loved the story it had to offer, there was some magic to it - it focused on friendships and family, and with the romance included, it made for a heartfelt one. I loved the characters, they were well-developed and realistic, and the relationships set between them were dynamic and interesting. Verity was such an incredible protagonist, she was so easy to connect to. I also really enjoyed the writing, it felt airy, it flowed really well, and it was all paced to my liking. Overall Poemsia is a great YA read. I recommend it.
I'm not sure what to say about this book. It was okay. I guess what bothered me was how it was paced. This one was a very slow burn, and in books like I'm not sure what to say about this book. It was okay. I guess what bothered me was how it was paced. This one was a very slow burn, and in books like these, where it's evident what the ending is going to be I prefer a heavy plot and a fast pace. I did like the way the characters were developed, as well as the writing style, it was decent. I really enjoyed the setting and how it was described. It's a solid book. It just didn't wow me.

Tweet Cute was nothing like I expected it to be, but it was still so good. A quick, adorable read, that was fun throughout. Pepper and Jack are the perfect match, and their chemistry that was built on opposites attract and works perfectly. I was rooting for them from the beginning. I really enjoyed how it was written. I thought it flowed really well. The characters were great. I loved the interactions they had, and how the backstories tied themselves together in the end. I couldn’t help but feel for Pepper for most of the book. Her relationship with her parents, as well as how she kept quiet about a lot of things resonated with me. The only reason this isn’t a 5 star for me is because of the plot. It was paced to my liking, it didn’t feel rushed or stalling, but I felt like it was going back and forth a lot. At moments this was a bit frustrating to me. But overall, this was an entertaining read, with great characters and an intriguing story. It’s a great addition to the YA/Contemporary genre. And I look forward to reading more from Emma Lord in the future.

I can't make a definitive statement, but I can say that I find that really suspicious.
This was an infuriating book for me. I wanted to like it, but it just didn't happen. A list to sum up all my thoughts.
The good: 1. I think the characters and their behaviors were believable for the time age they are and the period the book is set in. To some extent.* 2. The way the internalized and externalized homophobia are described is well-written.**
The bad: 1. I went into the book expecting contemporary YA, but this is historical fiction. The marketing is all wrong. This being marketed as historical fiction could actually save it from the negative reviews it's getting and I imagine will get in the near future. 2. This book could use a bit of plot. 3. On top of all the homophobia there is so much fat shaming, and so much slut shaming. 4. *Though believable, the characters weren't realistic. They all felt one dimensional. **Everything they were was homophobes. It was overdone, and not well balanced with the 'development' they were supposed to be going through. 5. I don't think a character needs to be likeable for a book to be enjoyable, but I don't think they should make you hate them. There was nothing about Taylor that made her even remotely intriguing or pleasant.
Overall: It's a miracle I finished this book. It's one of those books that specifically piss me off when they make is seem like a character or the world they're set in are black and white, and that is never, ever the case. I wouldn't recommend this book.

That's why this review will be shorter than usual. I'm not a huge fan of slow burns, but there was something about Get a Life, Chloe Brown that not only did I enjoy it, I read it twice just to experience it again. I really loved the way the books was written, it was so easy to read, but it also grabbed onto my attention and emotion. I also loved the characters, Chloe felt like a long lost friend, and if she didn't fall for Red, I sure as hell did. I don't know what else to add, I just loved this book so much. I hope a lot of people pick it up. I recommend it.
