The general idea of the story was great, but so many things turned this into less than I was hoping for.
The romance feels so rushed and unnatural and for war correspondants they spend an awful lot of time frolicking through the fields or playing happy family. They go to the front ONCE. If you’re going to place a romance into this setting then make sure it’s about finding love at the hardest of times and don’t turn the war into an afterthought with barely any struggles.
The B&B they were living is was constantly overflowing with food, there was time for workouts, quiet meals, gardening, even a celebration… Doesn’t anybody feel like that’s weird when there are bombs dropping out of the sky left and right?
I’ll be waiting for honest reviews on book two before deciding if I want to see for myself if book two has any redeeming qualities....more

But still, this is an enjoyable book and I’m glad I read it. ...more

The book wasn’t bad at all, but I got bored after the halfway point and sort of forgot about this book for a month. I also went through some reviews of the next book and if what I read about the relationship development is true then I already know I won’t like the rest of the series.

Skye and her mother went through a lot and I felt really bad for both of them. It’s been fun seeing her find her place and voice in a normal pack, along with some friends that quickly turned into family. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. ...more

The less pages I had left, the less I was enjoying this.
I am not happy, for a lot of reasons. Compared to the other books this feels like it was almost too easy and not at all believable. But hey, if you like endless descriptions about what everybody is wearing and how their hair looks, then this is the book for you, knock yourself out.
I like Cardan but I don’t get why people seem so be so much in love with him, sorry. Cool guy, but not Rhysand cool (or at least Rhysand-up-to-a-certain-point-in-the-series-cool)....more

That ending would have slowly murdered me while I waited for The Queen of Nothing.
I really enjoyed this! I hate the ones I already hated in the first book even more now and I would happily dance on a certain grave so fingers crossed they off that piece of garbage. Slowly. Painfully.
