I picked this up to better understand the arguments that were circling around Amy Coney Barrett during the Trump administration followed by the idea of adding more justices now under the Biden administration.
I was not surprised by the hypocrisy, lack of general morality and bad decisions that were described in this book. I would have liked more information on how to improve the process. Understanding the failings of the system without a clear idea of how it could be fixed is disheartening. ...more

I do not experience mental conflict between believing that there is a God and also accepting scientific exploration and findings.
For those friends who I know experience the conflict between faith and science, they probably won't read this but I have recommended it to them nonetheless. I, at least, understand their point of view a little better....more

For This was a hard book to stop but once you get into it there is great insight. I enjoyed the use of simple things to describe how algorithms work. For example, I will never look at organizing my book shelf the same way.
I want to read this one again in a few months. It was quite a bit of information to ingest in a first read....more

I picked up this Graphic Design book to get some new ideas and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed the presentation of student projects as it showed the unique answers that can come out of the same question.
I hope that after my MBA, I can spend some time working through the creative exercises myself.

To finish the book, I decided to be friends and consider him as a witty cynic that would be a joy to have on my side in a debate.
I did not skip around but instead skimmed when slightly interested and took notes when engaged. The concept of the Black Swan corroborated with my own ideas of the world so I found it helpful to see from another view.
I doubt if I will pick up the book a second time but it was full of conceptual information that I will reference in future even if just by alternating my thinking just a bit....more

Going through this book takes time - there are exercises to do, thoughts to write down, concepts to consider - I thought the journey was worth it. Although, I admit to speeding through a few of them as they were similar to exercises I have done previously for work development. It never hurts to review and evaluate to make sure the path is still clear....more

I greatly enjoyed the first 60 pages. The next 240 pages provided a growth journey in focus and motivation. The introduction and explanation of the examples became formulaic so it took effort to dig into what made the subtopic unique from the other subtopics. I would recommend that future readers skip to those topics of specific interest to them and understand that is enough to back up the author's main points.
It's well researched so I was tempted to go up to 3 stars but I didn't really "like it". I learned from it and appreciate the content....more

Throughout the book, the author shares the tests they used to learn about the difference between our fast thinking intuitive side and our slow deliberate logical side.
Even though I knew there was a catch to each of the little tests, I often fell in line with many of the others that have taken them previously. I had imagined I was a slow thinker and found out that actually, I'm pretty normal and fall back on my intuitive thinking more than I imagined.
This is a great book for self discovery and inspiration on human interaction. ...more
