“Logan,” I interrupt, and finally he looks up. “Can’t we just save the world first?” “My world’s not worth saving without you,” he replies. Then he turns and walks away.”
Earthbound was more of a miss for me, but I wanted to keep going on with this series so I decided to pick this one up. I always liked Tavia and Logan's relationship, and I totally wanted to see it grow and improve.
I didn't like this book. Just to take a note in the future, please don't recommend any of the books in this series to me. I never want to see this book ever again because of the catastrophe also known as the plot. *sighs* I feel like crying every time when thinking about this book because I love Aprilynne Pike's other books!
So you know, you boys can cry too if you'd like. :) This book took off right after where the first one did. At this point, Tavia is beginning to find out who she is. Her abilities are totally new to her, and of course, things at this point can go out of control at any moment. Logan is up to do anything to save Tavia from all of the crazy stuff going on in her world—but of course, they both end up getting captured. Then Tavia realizes that she's abnormal, surprise surprise.
My main problem is the idea. It's really too cliche, and I don't think that it needs to become a trilogy to capture the idea and add it into readers's minds. Fallen goddesses? This sounds like a wannabe of fallen angels, which I can barely stand either. I'm just not into the goddess idea—or mythology either.
The first 30 pages or so were racing. Aprilynne started off with a great action scene that kept me wanting to read this in one sitting. From there on, everything went slo-mo. The plot became thin, and I found that the book lost its magic, and so did the characters, who I once could really relate to, and who once, stories I really loved.
Unable to keep up with this turtle-motioned novel, I gave up. Sure, I'm #sorrynotsorry, but I do wish that I came to adore this trilogy like others may have. The average rating is really good, too! 3.98? That's an accomplishment. But I guess that this will be one of the rare negative reviews that you will find, fellow bookies.
Tavia lost her magic. She became annoying, and un-relatable. Like come on, you're a goddess, and you expect a prince charming following you at every corner, risking his life, when YOU have the ability to save HIM? Puh-leeze. I sure loved Prince Charming, aka Logan, who never lost his beauty and image.

In conclusion, I was looking for something much bigger and better. I was really disappointed with this—but if you absolutely adored the first, then go for this!...more
Finales in a trilogy or series are always difficult to handle for me. TThis review can also be found on A Thousand Lives Lived, check it out for more!
Finales in a trilogy or series are always difficult to handle for me. THEY’RE SAD, OKAY? I’ve been anticipating Kieran Scott’s finale to her True Love trilogy since the start and I’ve totally been wanting to discover what will happen to True and if her relationship with Orion would be revived to what it once was. Thankfully, this was a great ending and I’m so glad that it ended the way it was. Now my collection is complete and I’m done with yet another series that made me smile. I love Greek mythology now!
Now that we’re all done here, I’d definitely love to talk about what my overall thoughts of the series was. I guess that it all went from best to worst, not that this book is horrible or anything close to that. It started off with a five star rating, being beautiful and unique, but the series had gotten a little less awesome. But whatever, it was totally enjoyable throughout! Scott’s writing is as riveting as I always found it to be, from the start of the series to the end, or through any of her other books. I just can’t wait to see what else she has in store for readers in the future!
“Tears sprang to my eyes. Tears of relief, of joy, of sheer ecstasy. I clung to him and kissed him back with everything I had. I’d waited for this moment for what felt like an eternity. Ever since I’d been torn away from him back at the palace, and even more since the day he’d been sent to Earth and hadn’t known me.” (156)
Awh. So we all know that True had to bring three couples together in order to have her mission succeeded, basically. As she had completed two in the past novels, she has one more left, and that can definitely be her and Orion, right? Now her enemy’s in town and things are getting weird, but she still has Orion to wish about… that their relationship can go back to the neutral position.
I guess that the question that everyone is asking us is: Will they get back together and can True get back to Mount Olympus before time runs out? I obviously won’t spoil that for you (it spoils the whole series, gods), but I love the concept. Scott’s take on Greek mythology is wonderful, just wonderful. It seems like she has put so much research on her hands to make it perfect and unique, just to the right point. I kept second guessing everything and the captivation was real. Suspense is the author’s middle name.
“Just knowing my bow was with me was a tremendous boost. Holding it had made me feel myself again. And when I was Eros, Goddess of Love, nothing could stop me.” (214)
Kieran is a remarkable writer. Her books always go into some kind of depth and are paced perfectly. They’re rarely lacking something major, and I just want a huge collection of her works to indulge in and fall in love with. She’s the master of romance. The kissing scenes are always something that make my heart skip a few beats, just saying. *winks*
[image]
Something minor that was missing for me was a nice continuation of Orion’s character. I would’ve liked to find out more about him. He spent most of his time not remembering anything and just playing the role of a normal teenage boy, which he certainly wasn’t. I wish that we could’ve heard some of his background history and about some of the things that he and True had done together on Mount Olympus. Hmmph. But they had a cute romance and I shipped them together.
Kieran added some depth into some other characters who we only knew a little about, like Darla and Wallace. And guess what? They fell in love with each other as well. *rolls eyes* The take on popularity and the issues of high school was not-so-perfect and I had a few issues with it but it didn’t impact my rating too, too much anyway.
I'm obsessed with this trilogy. I guess that it's even got me to believe in love at first sight and true love as well. You'll be superbly impressed from the start and see how intriguing the writing is. It's fluffy, cute and full of names that you probably won't be able to pronounce until after some practice but hey... it all works out fabulously because you like it no matter what. At least, that's how I feel with everything by the author. It's surely one of the most memorable series-finishers, that's for sure. Everyone can fall in love!...more

A few months back, I’ve come to realize that I’m a very picky and subjective person when it comes to choose to read a book. I’m a very sceptical person, especially with genres that I don't really read much of—like mythology. This book is definitely like a crazy very-much modern day version of Percy Jackson, with a female kick-ass protagonist and a point of trying to get people to fall in love.
I have to say that the first book was better than this—the sequel. But deep into my heart, I can still tell you that this is one of the best series I’ve read in a long time. Scott is probably the master of contemporary and her books are a pleasure to read—always. This was like the book where we should know what’s happening, and it’s a continuation.
In the last book, True matched a couple up and she now has two more in order for her to head back to Mount Olympus and be with Orion, her true love. But now he’s here, at Lake Carmody High, and doesn't seem to remember True at all. And he’s all she cares about. When Peter, the star quarterback has messed up feelings about his relationship with his loving girlfriend, Claudia, they break up and True begins to try her best to get them back together.
“Every last one of them thought I was a freak. Including the love of my life.”
Firstly, can I just mention that these covers are so gorgeous? LIKE, THEY’RE SO SIMPLE BUT BEAUTIFUL. And especially the last book—OMG. But really, this book was beautiful inside and out as well, whereas the first was just precious to the heart. This concept was a continuation but total fun for someone who’d like a light, quick romance read mixed in with some Greek mythology and history.
To let you know, for 336 pages, this book’s plot was very well-detailed but to the point. There weren't too much of things, and I was barely bored. There was a new romance, new set of characters and a new set of POVs, switching between Claudia, Peter and True. Scott gave us a whiff of what these characters were really thinking and what they meant during some times.
What I did have a tiny problem with was the characters themselves, preferably Peter and Claudia. I loved them together (I shipped them so hard) but both of them were too sassy and idiotic at times. Claudia was too snobby and she tried to hard to accomplish something that was impossible in her situation which she knew would never happen and peeked for attention. Peter, on the other hand, was actually the same. He was a show-off, and he took his life too easily and thought about having fun. He ran away from seriousness.
"This was so wrong. We were soul mates. We were each other one and only. I knew him like the back of my hand. Shouldn't he have known me no matter what? Shouldn't our eternal connection be more powerful than any spell a god could cast on him?"
True, of course was our protagonist—she’s the person who figured out the plot. I never have problems with her, and I just want her to succeed happiness. Aha, that scene when she gets a cell phone for the first time was absolutely hilarious.
Romance, passion, funniness and sexiness, this book had it all. It’s a very simple read that you don’t end up having any large thoughts about, and you’ll feel like you need to grab the last book right away. The romance was absolutely worth fighting and reading for, and what we were left with were a few mishaps with the characters, specifically Peter and Claudia. If you adored the first book as much as I did, then I’d say to go and grab this one right away, and pre-order the last book as well. :)...more

But I'm always such a good person and I always giv It just sucks because I usually can never even pick up a mermaid book. And if I do, I hate them. But I'm always such a good person and I always give books a chance. Having read Jennifer's Revolution and liked it, I decided to give this one a chance. Colour me surprised, this ended up being the best mermaid-based book I've ever read.
This was absolutely spectacular and I really liked it! Despite the negative comments and reviews about this being more juvenile based (which really didn't matter to me because there was romance and a beautiful plot and setting) I loved it so much. I now understand the beauty of mermaids and the hashtag #mermaidsarereal.
Serafina is the daughter of Isabella, who is the queen of Miromara. She is very nervous for her betrothal, but what really should be on her mind is winning Prince Mahdi's heart, who will become her husband. When an assassin poisons Sera's mother, Sera goes off to search for five other mermaids who are scattered all around the six seas to find sisterhood and love.
"Your voice comes from here." She touched the place over Serafina's heart. "It's a beautiful voice. I know. I've heard it. All you have to do it let it out. Show me your heart, Serafina. That's where the truest magic comes from."
This idea is amazing. Assassins and mermaids all squashed up together? YASSS. I give this a thumbs up right away. This is the type of book that you just want to scream and rave about because it's just that good. It's the sort of book that you're going to have to put a lot of time aside to because it's just so good and you'll feel like you'll want to finish it from the start.
The plot was very good from the start, and it started off very fast. At around page 80, the main event occurred and we got to the middle. This wasn't your ordinary novel that took 200 pages to get to the main point. Jennifer Donnelly is very good at captivating readers and not being able to let them go until the beautiful end where you just need more.
One of my biggest problems was info-dumping. Especially in the beginning, so much of the book was info and history and more info about mers and everyone. It got a little extreme for me and I couldn't really take it. There were times when I had to re-read a paragraph to understand the history. Some of it wasn't needed at all, and that bores the reader too because they just can't be able to stand it.
The characters were great. I loved Serafina so much. She was the perfect, kick-ass, kind heroine that every book deserves. She's likeable and you want to stay by her side the whole time through.
The merls just formed the perfect sisterhood all together. They shared an un-denying beautiful bond that is just unexplainable. From the start when they bet, they all loved each other and showed their stuff. :)
Some side characters were not needed and I felt like there were too many people to memorize. Too bad I realized that there was a guide at the back of the book in the end. .__.

In conclusion, this book was amazingly enjoying. It was so addicting and the plot and idea was fresh and new. I recommend it to everyone looking for something different and for people lurking for a great mermaid read. Go and get it.

This is the best mythology book I've ever read. And I'm very surprised, because I usually hate mythology. Anything to do with gods and goddesses usually bores the heck out of me, and I usually hate all of the history and actual myths and everything. I picked up this novel thinking that it's a usual contemporary read with heart-stopping romance and cute guys with a nice plot. I didn't even read the summary. I just picked it up because the cover and having it be written by Kieran Scott. (AKA Kate Brian, author of the Private series.) So I think I'm ready for Rick Riordan. :)

True, aka Eros aka Cupid aka Daughter of the Goddess of Love, is banished to Earth having to match three mortal couples together with no use of her powers after Zeus (the king) finds Eros kissing a mortal, also known as Orion. Eros is sent to Earth and doesn't have a clue how to act and what to do as a mortal. When she meets Charlie, (who is also new) she knows that he'll be the perfect guy to match someone up with. From the beginning, Charlie falls in love with Katrina, a girl who already has a strange and cruel boyfriend. All True wants to do is match the three couples so she can see and be with Orion again.
Romance and a mythology twist? Count me in. Let me just say that this book was spectacular, and I would read it over and over again. This is going to be an amazing trilogy, I just know it. Kieran Scott has mastered something that no author has ever done before, and it's to mix so many genres together to great a light teen read. Fantasy, contemporary, mythology, romance? That's just great to conquer.
From the beginning, I was hooked in. A lot of the characters from the immortal world, Mount Olympus have been heard of and known for many centuries, and that's great that we were introduced to some new ones as well. But we already have heard of Zeus and Eros's mother and some of Eros's sisters. Kieran Scott never bored me and the plot twists just came on coming straight at me and I wasn't able to even go sleep because this book was too good. I would put this book before my beauty sleep. Now that's some crazy stuff. :p
The romance was so strong. SO BEAUTIFUL. I loved the idea of putting couples together without the use of powers. Everything was natural and the idea of friendship was absolutely there. The fact that True was giving up so much to be with Orion again was just amazing. But then BOOM that ending though. :( Hopefully everything'll go back to normal again and True will just do it. But I absolutely ship Katrina and Charlie so hard. They're the perfect nerdy cute couple and one of the best I've read about in a while.
All of the characters were memorable. True was a strong heroine who tried so hard and gave up so much to make everyone happy. She just didn't put couples together so she can get back to Mount Olympus faster, she did it because she wanted to see her friends happy. In those few weeks/days that she's been on Earth, she already made so many new friends and established strong friendships and went through so much and did new things. Perfect heroine.
Charlie was an absolute hero. He was the boy next the door, the boy you wanted to hug all the time and the boy who you felt so bad for because he just didn't fit in with the rest of the family. He wasn't understood by anyone except Katrina, and that's why they're the perfect couple. I loved him to death. :)
I'd absolutely read this book over and over again and it was my universe and beyond. I recommend this to everyone, young and old. It's truly a life-changing read. :)

The funny thing is that I never expected to get this book. On the last day of BEA, I went to a galley drop at the Penguin booth, not even knowing what books were being given out, and then I finally discovered that this was by MRS COLLEEN HOUCK when I looked over the day's haul that night. I was shocked. Yes, I had heard about this book and its concept, but I kind of was clueless at the same time. Reawakened was pure awesomeness and I need the sequel immediately.
So I'm kind of clueless (as well) when it comes to Egyptian myths and its history. Basically all I know is: pyramids, mummies, sphinxes, Pharaohs and cats. Would you call be a history loser, my friends? I think that I would call myself that, too. This was my most anticipated read of the year and it rocked my world. With a mix of contemporary fiction through the setting of NYC, but mostly magic and spells in the Egyptian world, Colleen takes us into another world that's completely different than that of Tiger's Curse. Anyone who thinks that they sound awfully similar is completely wrong. Here we don't have a love triangle, for one.
"It means a bit more than a simple thank-you. It is a term implying a deep sense of gratitude for another person. It is an expression of thankfulness for the enduring warmth and comfort one feels when in the presence of someone special. I do not thank you, Lily. I am thankful for you." (ARC, page 111)
'Aw' is the complete right word to use in this situation, my fellow friends. It's all about an Egyptian Prince and normal girl coming together to kick ass. Basically, at least. Lily is your average teenager who likes to spend time in the Met art museum, starring at the different pieces and getting inspiration, as well as people-watching. When she one day heads into the forbidden Egypt section, she meets Amon, who claims to be connected to Lily and needs her help to fight evil and get his inner organs back as he'll continue using some of her energy to stay alive. Anyways, it's a fucking long story to explain. But they eventually take a plane to Egypt, using Amon's magical powers to take over some people, and even see some kind of connection... mostly romantic between each other.
I love the length of this novel. It's long (with so many details that can explain everything to me without leaving me asking questions like an idiot) and the writing was fantastic. What kind of left me stirring to an awkward position was the pacing in the middle of the novel. I originally had the rating at 4.5 stars but I kind of lost that towards the middle and then it picked up again when everything turned out great afterwards. It then turned into a stellar series debut.
This is going to be a series as well, just saying in case you didn't know. WOW. It had the perfect ending to act as a standalone but things also CAN'T END LIKE THAT either. It's a hand-in-hand 50/50 thing I guess. Either way, I'll read whatever Colleen writes because she's a YA master and her take on mythology and old tales rule quite often. If it isn't tiger princes, then it's an Egyptian prince who has so much passion and love for a regular girl who thinks he's the hottest guy on the planet when she usually never takes love for granted, you know?
"My love for you will not diminish. During each night that passes I will bring your image to mind. You are mine—my Nehabet—a rare desert flower that blooms in the waters of the oasis. As the days and years of your life go by I will keep watch over you, and when your blossom closes its petals, finally surrendering to the night, I will meet you at the dawn of your new existence and I will be your guide in the afterlife." (ARC, page 378)

I bet that you now know what I've been talking about for the longest time, tee hee. Lily was a perfect heroine who had so much in her and she kept showing her fullest potential, always. She added humour to a book that initially sounded like a dark fantasy with tons and tons of action. And Amon? HOLD ME BECAUSE I LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND THEN I CRIED AND CRIED AND CRIED WITH THE ENDING AS THE WORDS KEPT GOING. I wanted to pass out, honestly. Houck always comes up with the hottest fictional boyfriends for me, and now I just can't get over him and his cluelessness of reality and which clothes to put on. Eeee!
I'm hoping that you can tell that I enjoyed this book SO MUCH by now. I had such a great time reading it and trust me—it'll only take a quick sitting to actually get through it. Egyptian Princes are super hot and steamy, trust me. And trust me that the writing is fantastic and this will be on everyone's Top Ten Favourites Lists of 2015 by December, AND STARE AT THE COVER, PEOPLE. It's more beautiful than anything else I've seen, you should see the way it feels. *rubs the cover* I want to be reawakened by the gorgeous Amon and have Lily by my side as a best friend. *wiggles eyebrows*

The Goddess Legacy, a 3.5 star rating
"In her he saw possibility. In her he saw the future. And when she was ready for it, he would be, too."
The Goddess Legacy, a novella that's taken place in between the second and third book, is a novella that warms your heart with 5 different stories, taken in the point of view of 5 different characters, Calliope, Ava, Persephone, James, and Henry.
In my opinion, I found myself adoring two people's stories most of all, Persephone's and Henry's. Their stories were fast-paced, great, and just fulfilling my expectations.
The novella started off with Calliope's story. Marrying Zeus is a big challenge for her, and I felt everything that she felt throughout the story. Isn't it strange that Greek gods marry their siblings? ;)
Next off was Ava's story, one of the worst, from my viewpoint. I found this one dull, and boring. To me, there was no point in this one. Carter should've taken it out, or made it better.
Furthermore, the story went on with James' "journey." Okay, to me there was no journey in this one. I thought that this would be the best one, because James is my favourite male character in the trilogy, and I wanted to hear things from his point of view, which I shouldn't have. Boring, boring, boring! I felt as if I just skimmed through this story, I was bored through most of it.
Ending off Henry's story, I never got to hear his point of view on things. I understand why he was kinda grumpy in the second book, he had to go through many wives! He must've thought that Kate would choose to die, just like he lost his Persephone. He's not as good as James in character, but his story certainly is better.
The Goddess Legacy is a great novella, that is for fans who definitely want more from Carter, in characters. Great!...more

The Near Witch was one of those novels' whose reviews I trusted, so I went with what the public said. On Goodreads specifically, this has an average 3.83 rating, which is pretty good if you look at others, it's almost a four. So, I went with what the public predicted, and I bought the novel.
Haha, so here I am, done with it since yesterday, and I regret, or doubt that I bought it. Really? It just happened like that? This plot was very interesting in the beginning. The moor seemed very real, and the characters just flew to me. Once something may be good in the beginning doesn't mean that it will stay great for the rest of the novel. I found that this became super-boring, but I still didn't put it down for some reason. I guess it's just one of those novels, if you know what I mean.
Lexi really seemed to me as one of those caring, but overprotective heroines, especially for her sister. When her uncle came over, she felt very uncomfortable in even speaking to him. I guess it's probably because of what happened to her father earlier, but that's another story to tell another time. Tyler, Cole, Edgar, and everyone who did make an impact on this novel to me were dull, they really didn't make a difference if they were there or not. I really thought that this story mainly focused on the whole Near Witch myth, nothing on the lifestyles and mysteries of the lives of these characters, they were just there because they were there. Hahah.
So why is this almost a three? Because I liked the myth and the beginning was good....more

Really, this cover looks incredible. You just wanted to be sucked into the mythical world of the Everneath, and experience this thrilling adventure b Really, this cover looks incredible. You just wanted to be sucked into the mythical world of the Everneath, and experience this thrilling adventure between Nikki and Cole.
Everneath is one novel that I've been eyeing on for a while. I thought that it would be about vampires or demons, from looking at the cover. Who'd think that it'd take place in an underworld, based on the myths of Persephone?
So, you must be wondering why I gave this a 3 star rating. Mainly, it's because of the boring at times plot/storyline. I really liked the story in the beginning, a girl returning from the underworld, getting ready to choose between 2 truthful choices? I'm in! But, towards the middle, I became very uninterested. This novel just didn't click with me. Maybe it was the setting I was in at the time I was reading, or my concentration, I don't know, I just disliked the plot.
These characters to me were plain average. Nikki was an attractive characters, likeable at times, but sometimes choosing the wrong thing, which is always okay. I just really didn't like the guys. Jack and Cole really didn't give me a choice on whose side to be on, they were stubborn and I felt that Cole was using Nikki the whole time, his love for her really didn't show.
So, why is this a 3 star rating? Well, I feel that this book had a message, maybe it was that we have to listen to our hearts, or that we need to choose what we believe in, I liked the fact that this novel really proved something to all of us.
I don't think that I'm going to spend the money on the next one, to tell you the truth, I really don't care what happens to the characters, sadly. I wish that I did like this novel more, or that it was better. Good, but not pleasing. ...more

Okay, so this is what I wish that James would say to Kate, because he's my favourite. I hate Henry! I don't know what the rest of you think about him, like it or not, he's one of the worst male characters, ever! Why would he, abandon Kate?
Anywho, back to the reviewing. The cover is stunning, just look at it! It hooks you in, and did for many people I know, even males! The fact that the series is about Greek myths, captivates many of us into believing the legend of Zeus, or Hades.
The reason that this is a 3.5 star rating, is because it became dull at times, where the author didn't have anything to say, just kept blabbing. When the action happened, well, that was the best part. As Kate described her vacation with James in Greek that summer, I just hoped that something would happen between them.
Kate is a great heroine. Her looks- from the cover and what I imagine, are stunning, and her personality is something that many people wish to have, her sympathy, and fierceness towards finding the truth in things. I felt as if I was with her the whole adventure.
Calliope was a good villian. I mean, who likes villians, personally, but she had a spark in her that I became fond of. Well, if you read the ending, I guess you'll figure it out. ;)
