**spoiler alert** I guess, now that Im done with the book, I should review the whole thing.
“What did she say?” “She said, okay.” “That’s great, isn’t it**spoiler alert** I guess, now that Im done with the book, I should review the whole thing.
“What did she say?” “She said, okay.” “That’s great, isn’t it?” “Yeah, it’s great. I can’t believe how easy it was. I thought for sure she’d make a fuss.” Why didn’t she make a fuss? She seemed almost like she didn’t care. How could that be? I was always the love of her life. We were happy; our life was the envy of everyone we knew. So why is she being so blasé about me cheating? I looked over at my affair partner as she drove us back to her place.
Nice. Very very nice.
EDIT#1- Tf? This has marital ra**, Domestic Viol****, physical abu**!!! The cheating ahh-hole husband smacks around his affair partner!
This book's very disturbing
EDIT#2- So, it’s no surprise that when I called them pleading for help because of what their brother was doing, they laughed in my face and told me I was getting what I deserved and not to call them again. I think that’s the moment when I realized I had hit rock bottom
Them being the husband's sisters and mother.
idc if it was my worst enemy, if they were getting ra*** and beaten by their husaband, I wouldnt hesistate to help them.
Idc how the story is played out to blame the OW(the victim of abuse) and the ex-husband, but I still feel that everyone was batshit crazy in this book.
THERE IS ON PAGE VIOLENCE!!
SPOILERS-
this plot is very messy but i'll try my best.
So the story is about Rachel (the FMC) and her husband Doug(well ex-husband because the divorce takes place a few pages into the book)
Doug was cheating on Rachel with his younger co-worker Wendy. He leaves Rachel (with whome he has 2 kids) for Wendy. Rachel dosent put up a fight. Jacob swoops in to play the knight. Jacob has been in love with Rachel for a long time and wanted to ask her out but Doug got to her first. He has known Rachel for the same time Doug has been with her, but he never overstepped the friendship boundary and was the godafather to Doug's and Rachel's two kids. He has only been in love with Rachel and no one else, and gave up his playboy ways once he realised he could never have Rachel.
But things took a turn for the .....best.....(if u look at it from rachel and Jacob's POV)
After Doug and Wendy get married and move in, he starts beating her up, sexually abusing her, pushing her around because men, once they move in with the skank and the skank get's overweight, do they realise that they've fucked up their life.
Rachel and Jacob hit it off and go on to have 4 more kids. They're happy and fulfilled with their life.
I think what makes this story SO GROSS and DISUSTING, is the literal death scenes of Wendy and Doug. It's like a mix version of Stephen King with Franz Kafka. Their are maggots crawling all over their dead bodies while they're alive.
The ending was like experiencing a Quentin Tarantino movie.....or maybe not since this book was too poorly written.
There is a LOT OF revenge and drama, Wendy and Dough, when they finally get together, they're still hung up on the fact that Rachel never put up a fight and is already fucking Doug's childhood friend Jacob. They can't stand to see her happy.
The POV's of Doug and Rachel, though portrayed as evil, are straight up psychopathic. Like....I couldn't believe what the fuck I was reading....more
**spoiler alert** A 3 page short story that, mind you, I did NOT read in Urdu. I read the English translation.
I would suggest doing a quick google sea**spoiler alert** A 3 page short story that, mind you, I did NOT read in Urdu. I read the English translation.
I would suggest doing a quick google search about this author because all his stories are a reflection of the surroundings he was living in. Knowing his background will help you lay a groundwork and context of all his stories that you might read.
Do not come after me for saying this, but pre-partition Pakistan was.... a SCARY PLACE. It still is on many levels but back then? Oh god.
Specially the torcher Muslim Women went through was horrendous.
I'll have you known that Manto was HEAVILY CRITICIZED (and banned from Pakistan) for his writings back then because they were too adult-rated and too .... nudity centred.
To check this I read two and three stories of his and man do i wanna unalive the ppl for shutting up his voices.
Did you know Manto wrote --graphic details---about the ra** of muslim prostitutes and women. And it was barely fictional. He wrote what he saw.
And THATS what people were calling 'too mature' and 'disgusting'.
Manto was a writer WAY AHEAD of his time. A man of liberated speech and thinking that terrorist organisations wanted to shut down. He wanted the world to know what was happening to women behind close doors.
ABOUT THIS STORY--->
Well, the story is set in a refugee camp in Pak area. Its about a daughter-dad who are moving away from their home town because of bombing and terror attacks. What follows the story is horrendous and gut-wrenching.
And after completing the story I terafully realised why its called 'Khol Do.'
Khol do is a Hindi word which literally translates to-- 'Open It.'
▶This book gave me nostalgia about the time I used to read at least two Nancy Drew books every week.
▶If you love Nancy Dr4.5 Nail-Biting stars.

▶This book gave me nostalgia about the time I used to read at least two Nancy Drew books every week.
▶If you love Nancy Drew, you'll LOVE LOVE LOVE this.
▶I have to say that the FMC's IQ and problem solving capacity was very unrealistic. But her bravery and fearlessness made up for it.
▶Murder-mystery / crime-thrillers are not something I read ever (not since I tunred 17 lol) because only psychological thrillers fuck up my brain and give me a real high.
▶Thats why I ate half-star less because even though I really enjoyed this book, it was not my usual genre, also in the beginning it was kind of slow paced and picked up speed quite later on in the book.
▶This would be a REALLY REALLY REALLLLLY good movie though, David Lynch should look into this. Something like Mullholand Drive.
▶Kaya Scoldelario could play the main lead. I bet she'd look terrific chasing down bad guys in a hospital gown with a bloodied knife. ...more
Almost all are indicative of Child Abuif there is a hell i want peterson to rot in it.
I can't rate this im sorry this is a NIGHTMARE.
TRIGGER WARNING:
Almost all are indicative of Child Abuse. F, I and some other as well have themes of pedophilia and adult gay men/women sexually abusing/molesting kids. I can see why Daily Wire loves this old ass man. All gay people in the book are portrayed as sub-humans who sexually abuse kids. It also has a poem where a child is sexually abusing his mother.
