I was really interested in this subject when I'd read Stolen for the first time, so needless to say, it was my duty :D

I got into it after reading The Collector, it's a very interesting subject that isn't used much.

Yeah that's what I think too, I was surprised that there were more books of the same genre, I started looking for them after I read Stolen which was quite good

I loved Stolen because it had a realness to it that most YA don't, you know? and the way Lucy wrote about the outback was rather entertaining as well.

Yeah, and I loved the whole forced love kinda thing, It seemed like a whole new outtake on stockholm syndrome, a lot of the time, I felt sorry for Tyler even though I knew he was the bad guy

I nearly fell off my chair when I found this list.
I feel like I've hit the jack pot! Even though a number of the ones I'm really interested in aren't at my library, I'm so happy to know they're out there.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this list! I've been scouring the internet for a good list of book containing Stockholm/kidnapping in them, this is the first I've found! So excited :D

Me too!
Me too!
There's one I remember reading and enjoying as an adolescent, but cannot remember the name of for the life of me. Have to keep thinking.
I think my new goal is to find a good Captive/Kidnapping/Stockholm Syndrome book that a) isn't young adult and b)isn't vampire related. I'm so hesitant to read anything labeled young adult because it can't be as "adult" and raw as I'd imagine I want it to be. You can't have that dark sexual tension that might be appropriate in some adult novels. If I'm wrong about that I'd love a suggestion.

Perhaps The Collector by John Fowles?
Room by Emma Donoghue is also pretty powerful - it doesn't have a Stockholm Syndrome related plot though.

Yeah, the Collecor is my favorite book OF. ALL. TIME. I've never found another abduction/captivity book that ever came close. :)
I'm reading Room at the moment and read Still Missing before hand, both brilliant books!!
Never used to be interested in this genre but in the last few weeks I cant seem to get enough....

I'm really hesitant to read Room, if only because i can't believe a realistic novel could be narrated by a five year old kid. Unless I'm understanding the premise incorrectly.
I looked through this entire list and I still could not find a book I read awhile back. I can't remember the name or author. It's about a boy whose sister was murdered and, upset, spontaneously kidnaps a girl walking by out of spitful revenge and anger. He justified it as she was wearing "slutty" clothing when his good girl sister was always modest. Therefore life is unfair yada yada. He keeps her in I believe a basement overnight in which he calms down from his tantrum and the two actually bond with each other. I want to say his mother is an alcholic or on drugs from the grief of losing the daughter. Anyway does this sound familiar to anyone? Did I possibly miss it in the list somewhere?

I've never heard of it but I'd really like to know the name now! Sounds like a great book!

The first part almost sounds like The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B Cooney...no rape or doctor, though. I recommend even if it isn't the book you're looking for!

No problem! Check the group "What's the name of that book?" also, someone there might be able to help.
