Reese

Cooper Reeves was the boy-next-door. Every milestone, every memory of my youth was entangled with his.

We were inseparable... until college.
It wasn’t his friends, girls or even sports that came between us— it was me.

Tired of being in the friend zone, I finally made a move. Turns out it was the wrong one.

Cooper walked away to play his first year of professional football and left me behind with a broken heart.

Cooper

It’s always been her. Even before I really knew what love was, Reese Latham was by my side, making me swear we’d be best friends forever.

And we were... until one night changed everything. I knew how she felt because I felt it too, but I pushed her away to save our friendship.

The longer we’re apart, the more I realize she’s not only my best friend, Reese is the love of my life.

I was kidding myself thinking I could let her go because now I know that living without her is the worst kind of agony.

Listening to a story where the 2 main characters are pushing pulling back and forth for 7 hours is a bit frustrating. I have to keep in mind that this book is meant for NA audience. I do like pushing pulling on the romance, but I need more magic, more chemistry.

I do not hate the book nor love it either. Like I said it is a bit frustrating. Even the cliffhanger does nothing to me. I am not in hurry to grab the sequel of this book.

Overall this book is OK read for me. Just OK.

3 ❤️💔🙄🌟s

There are so many mixed feelings surrounding me after finishing the first part of this duet.
It was beautiful! Reese and Cooper had been best friends since the age of 8. They had an amazing bond and I loved watching their development.
Both of them had deeper feelings for each other but were afraid to show because they didn’t want to ruin their friendship. Lifelong friends and then to be torn apart was their greatest fear!

BUT. It was so tiring and repetitive reading continuously how much afraid Cooper was of losing Reese if he bared his soul and revealed his love for her.
I could feel his agony and concern, but how much more can a reader endure?
Either they stayed best friends or not, the outcome would be the same. He was going to be miserable and unhappy!!
When he finally decided to tell her about his feelings, it was the most inappropriate timing and I was really mad at him! 🤬

They both only had sex once with their dates to prom on their high school senior year, after that they dated others but were never intimate again

I asked the author about my double standards issues and she confirmed my doubts about him and his sex life and guess what? He doesn’t have one, other than the night he lost his v card he never had sex again

NO DOUBLE STANDARDS

They fooled around one day and he made her come but they stopped before things went further and it is said that she didn’t have an orgasm when she lost her virginity so he is the first guy to ever give her that which pissed me off a little because he obviously had one when he lost v card (so easy for guys it’s a shame) but I can totally overcame that orgasm thing because now she is engaged so even though she doesn’t fuck her fiancé she is experiencing something he never experienced and I love it.
I’m a safety bitch when it comes to equally experienced heroes and heroines because I want my women to be at least as experienced as the men but I love it when they are more

I wouldn’t mind if she slept with her fiancé though because the hero is the one who fucked up so imo she can be free to do whatever she wants and I still would think this book is safe

Nope nope!!! Why???? Listen I will read the other book if she chooses the right guy. And it’s not cooper. He’s too dumbass. Best friends to lovers can be good but this is not it. This was a mess. Long and dragged out.
It was so draining. I don’t mind angst but I need more than that too. The whole book I was rooting for anyone but the hero. At least she wasn’t a virgin waiting around for him. Lmao

Reese and Cooper

I wish I had waited and read this book when part 2 was out. What an ending. My heart is in such pain. Such agony. They met when They were 8 years old. Have lived next door to each other. They love each other but have never expressed their feeling. Is it too late?

It seems whenever I've come off of an emotionally difficult read with all those mentally challenging triggers, I end up back in college doing the melodramas associated with the football god and the girl who doesn't think she's quite good enough. But, as we all know, she is and usually too good. And that's how I ended up beginning this little nugget of childhood best friends since they were 8 years old and now in college and feelings are changing -- but neither is quite willing to move forward for fear they'll ruin their friendship. (I'm not sure I really fall for all the silly excuses they use to convince themselves they are making the right choices -- but I guess it keeps things interesting and entertaining!) Graduation day arrives and life is changing for these best friends -- and it might be too late for a redo of the decisions they've made.

A great group of athletes and their love interests give a boost to the main characters and their ongoing indecision and heartbreak. Well written and a bag of laughs as well. Easy and quick afternoon of reading.

This is a duet and the biggest "agony" is the wait until July 15th when the finale comes calling.

I was privileged enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book from the author for a voluntary and honest review.
What an amazing story. The title says it all! I will tell you it's a 2 parter but once I started, I couldn’t seem to put it down. Cooper and Reese had me intrigued right from the very beginning. They were easy to relate to, and I felt as though I could connect easily with them. I felt this book was very well written, and the characters were completely lovable. I can't wait for the conclusion. Thanks so much for the escape. It's definitely 5 stars for this story and it definitely needs to be on your TBR list now!!

Agony is the perfect title for this book. If there is a title that more accurately describes a book like this, it’s this one. Agony is a smoldering, slow burn romance between two lifelong best friends and I was fully invested in the story from the start. I always look forward to new books from Kaylee Ryan because she is such a wonderful writer and I really love how she pens a story and there is always such an easy flow in her stories. Her uncanny ability to suck readers into a story is incredible.

This book is the first in the series Entangled Hearts Duet #1. I simply adored Cooper and Reese's relationship. It was so pure and beautiful to read. The intensity in which they love and support each other is apparent. The friends to lovers aspect was so perfectly detailed down to a T. The story takes us through their ups and downs as they both continue to love each other as friends and both try hard to not admit their real feelings for each other. Cooper frustrated me no end yet I did understand his misgivings and I loved him regardless of his pigheadedness. There’s a connection between them that defies logic. It’s much more than a friendship, they are the epitome of soulmate. In heart wrenching fashion, both of them are too afraid to take that leap. There is love between the two, but romantic feelings are miscommunicated and hidden, leading to an dramatic, frustrating and angsty read.

Agony is gripping and will consume you whole. Incredible! I can’t wait for the next one because the rollercoaster of emotions that are sitting within me are off the scale!

Agony, that title fits perfectly because it’s what I felt this whole book because I wanted to smack Cooper! Don’t get me wrong, I love him!! But I also want to shake and smack him!! But that being said, best friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and I was so glad to read book one of this duet. Actually I’m not sure it’s going to lovers but anyways, I’m rambling. I do adore Coop and Reese’s friendship more then words can say. The story Ms. Ryan weaved for these two just man! She’s done what I love most in books like this. We got the last of their friendship. I appreciate that more in books then anything. Especially best friend books. I could go on and on and on but really, Reese, she’s amazing, and Coop, I still really want to smack and shake him!!

My-Post-1
All my reviews can be found on my blog : ABSTRACT BOOKS

AGONY is the first book of the Entangled hearts duet by Kaylee Ryan. Told in dual perspectives , this book certainly lives up to its title's meaning!!

This was the first book of Kaylee Ryan that I have read and it was absolutely amazing!! Agony was a book full of so much pain and longing, that it nearly tore my heart out. Here in this book we meet two childhood best friends- Cooper and Reese. Reese has pretty much been in love with Cooper throughout her life . Cooper also feels something for her , but always denies it because he doesn't want to loose his friendship.

This book spans over a lot of years and tells us the full first half of Cooper and Reese's journey. They both come close many times but either life gets in the way or Cooper back out because of his issues. I have never seen a hero more stubborn than Cooper . I mean I lost count of the number of times of how many people told him that he loves Reese and he brushed them off. Finally after a lot of years they both get a chance again but Cooper again and again refuses to let Reese get near his heart. My heart just broke for her.

There were many instances when I literally hated Cooper. The way he rejected her again and again was so ruthless and painful. He moved on with other girls but Reese was never able to do that. When she finally found someone whom she loves, he gets in between that too. The titles of this book sums up the story so well!!! This book was a cliffhanger and was certainly very enjoyable for me.

There was just one thing that I didn't like about the book and it was the part where Cooper suddenly decides that he wants Reese and interrupts her wedding!! That was a bit of a leap for me.

The best thing that I liked about this book was its unpredictability . It leaves you hanging for more and I just can't wait for the second part of Cooper and Reese's story!! This book is recommended to all the contemporary romance lovers out there who like themes such as second-chance, childhood-friends-to-lovers and Redemption!!

If there was ever a book that lived up to it's name with each and every chapter it is this one. Once again Kaylee Ryan rips your heart from your chest and leaves you breathless. From the very first line until the last word on the page the reader is pulled into this best friend/soulmate storyline that at certain points makes you laugh out loud and at other makes you wipe tears from your cheeks. Reese and Cooper have been best friends since they were 8 years old, but somewhere along the line the feeling for each other grew into love and admiration. But not willing to risk the friendship they both remain just friends and never inform the other about their true feelings. But at the very last minute Cooper finally is ready, but unfortunately Reese has another direction in her life. Did Cooper wait too long? Will they somehow find themselves together again? Can you walk away from your soulmate? The ending will leave you wanting more. Kaylee Ryan once again will not disappoint!!

FFS.... how many times does one have to say, “She/he’s my best friend”? I think we get it. If you made a drinking game out of how many freaking times this book said it, you’d be in a coma.

'Agony' by Kaylee Ryan is an angst-fest from start to end; having gone into this without realising that this is a duet made it worse because it ends on an unhappy cliffhanger, despite you know that this has an HEA down the end of the line when the second book finally releases.

The childhood-best-friends-to-lovers trope is a long, drawn-out one here and isn't entirely fulfilled in this book, as poor timing and drastically-changing circumstances finally shift the game...and that is where the book ends.

'Agony' was surprisingly easy to read however, maybe because of Cooper Reeves's repetitive emphasis on best friends only and nothing more despite the growing feelings and attraction that he denied up until the very end. In contrast, Reese seemed more enlightened even as she dealt with a broken heart and a willingness to move on after finding out that friendship seemed like the only end game for Cooper.

What I didn't entirely get was the necessity of having this push-pull stretched over a full-length novel with early scenes of their college years that felt superfluous, some of which could have easily replaced by a faster-paced second half that could have dealt with conflict resolution. In fact, Cooper/Reese's interactions felt more of the same as the pages wore on and their individual stances on their best-friends relationship which had obviously long crossed the line started to ring hollow given the multiple affirmations of their holding pattern.

As eager as I am for their resolution however, having this end unsatisfactorily (while knowing there is a happy ending to come) dimmed my enjoyment quite a bit - blame me perhaps, for needing it all wrapped-up nicely from start to end.

Such mixed feelings about Coop and Reese, did you know that they were best friends?
I feel like I wasn't reminded enough about their friendship and maybe they were just acquaintances and not actual best best best friends. But anyway by the end I felt like I was invested in their relationship/ best friends ever-ship and I'll probably read book 2 because best friends bro.

Agony is appropriately titled. This book and that cliffhanger, PURE agony! Cooper and Reese have a beautiful friendship. The two of them love each other so much but could not communicate that to each other at the right times. There was a lot of push and pull and repetitiveness and for me this was a frustrating read. I enjoyed the story and characters but they each had their flaws. I sure hope they get it together in Bliss!

4.5 Stars!

Kaylee Ryan has done it again with her beautiful words, addicting stories, and unforgettable characters. Kaylee is so known to tug on some heartstrings in her books but oh my goodness y'all, I certainly wasn't expecting THIS but all in the very best ways.

Agony is the first book in this best-friends-to-lovers Entangled Hearts duet (oh yes there is so much more left to tell for Reese and Cooper in book two) and y'all, you are NOT READY for their journey. Packed with underlying heat, complications, angst, all of the feels (cue the tears!!), and two people that'll keep you hanging on to every single little word they say... Reese and Cooper are here to steal a chunk of your heart and you won't be able to put their story down once the words start flowing.

I'll admit that this wait is going to be absolute torture for me. I am on some serious pins and needles for BLISS.

I highly recommend this book.

Reese and Cooper have been best friends and inseparable since they were eight years old, even their parents are best friends. They have a bond, a connection and amazing chemistry. Though, Cooper doesn’t want to do anything to risk his friendship with Reese and Reese doesn’t think Cooper feels the same. They both struggle with their emotions, but will they be able to admit their feelings before it’s too late?

I loved Reese and Cooper’s friendship. It was fun, playful, sweet and adorable from the very start. There is chemistry between them and so many times I just wanted to yell at them to open their eyes, I mean even their friends tried to get them. I loved them but they frustrated me at times because of that. I loved how supportive Reese is of Cooper, she truly is his number one fan. She loves supporting him and it shows. I loved the entire group, all the guys plus Tessa. They added to the story and were just fun.

I probably spent the last 20% of this book in tears. It was slowly breaking my heart and I knew the closer I was getting towards the end that my heart wouldn’t be mended. Agony is a beautifully written best friends to I hope lovers (I’m crossing my fingers) romance. I can’t wait to see how Reese and Cooper’s story continues. This is a MUST READ!

Where do I even start with this read that has left me a blubbering mess. This story starts as two childhood best friends are navigating their way through college. The feels are everything in this story and something I felt straight into the marrow of my bones. I loved the support system of the other characters so much and everything was so easy to relate to. So many times I wanted to yell at both characters to see what is right in front of them and see what the world around them sees with blaring Vegas lights.

‘This truly is an epic foundation for a love story and I cannot wait for book two to see where we go

Agony, distress, heartbreak, pain, torture and woe are just some of the emotions that my heart experienced through this first part of Reese and Cooper’s story. Two people who have loved each other since they were children, but what happens when you are so scared to lose that one person who means more to you than anyone else that you allow fear to do exactly that. This is a story that had my anxiety levels high, my chest tight and my frustrations boiling over. I wanted to yell, scream and shake these two to make them see what was right there so close to them that all they had to do was reach out and grab it. As the words surrounded my heart, embedded into my soul and stole my breath I was left not sure whether I would be able to survive the agony of their decisions. As the first part of their story came to a close, the tears were flowing and my heart was shattering to pieces but down deep I still clung to hope. Sometimes risks are worth taking even if you have to suffer the agony to finally find bliss.

Wow! The title of this book is so true. Agony. That’s exactly how I feel at the moment. The beauty of the best friends fighting and not admitting their feeling is so well written in this fantastic book, it's almost painful. This story is written with passion and perfection, the words fly off the pages.

Reese has been best friends with Cooper since the age of seven. Inseparable. Their parents are best friends too and these two haven’t spent a day apart. Each is unaware that they are in love with the other. Oh, the anxiety and heartbreak that has given me. Cooper is super protective over Reese. He doesn’t quite realise he’s in love. It suffered along with them both. I just love all the people in this story. I feel like they are my friends too. Such beautifully depicted characters that I am really in love with them all.

The story kept me up for hours and I am so frustrated that I have to wait to find out if these two can ever find their happily ever after. Agony.

This author is an expert at writing stories that tug at your heart. Reese and Cooper, best friends since they were 8 years old and both ridiculously blind and oblivious to each other’s feelings. Reese always thought that Cooper never wanted her as something more but boy how wrong was she. Cooper was always her protector and in one way or another always chased guys that seemed to be getting too close to Reese but he never told her about his feelings. Until he realized that he was going to lose her forever. Cooper laid everything on the line hoping it wasn’t completely late and that he still had a chance. And Tessa?! Reese’s best friend is the best friend every girl needs. What she told Reese right at the ending speaks volume. This ball is in Reese’s court now and I can’t wait for book 2.

Honestly, Cooper was selfish. That's all I have to say, it pisses me off that he didn't let her be with anyone but refused to be with he himself and he really didn't have a reason for it. And just when Reese was moving on and healing her broken heart he decides to drop the bomb to her. I feel like the story line was dragged way too much, like I was expecting for him to realize that he loved her way sooner than that. The scenes between them were always the same and it bothered me that he kept denying everything and just dragging her along for the ride just because " he was her best friend, the most important person in his life". BS.

First book by this author and I liked it even if I didn’t love it.

The book is a typical childhood best friends to lover story and was well done. I thought both the h and H were likeable and there were a lot of really fun angsty scenes. I loved all the usual denial/yearning you get with a good friends to lovers books which this story defiantly had.

That said there were multiple times where I literally rolled my eyes. Things that were so unrealistic/would never happen in college and behaviors of the characters that were inconsistent with them being in their twenties. Certain expressions such as “we grooved” while dancing were just cringy and not how twenty year olds talk/act.

Also while this did not affect my ratings of this book I did not enjoy the second book in the duet (overly sweet, OTT and unnecessary) and wish that the author had just combined the books to make one cohesive story. Because of the second story (you really can’t read this one as a standalone) I wouldn’t really recommend this book. May check out other books by the author…

if you're a fan of friends to lovers romance, check this book out. honestly, the title of this book is the best way to describe this book. agony. pure agony. cooper and reese have been best friends for their entire life. they find comfort within each other, they look out for each other, and they just have a special connection that nothing/no one compares. i love their cute, pure moments. there were some scenes where i couldnt help but swoon. although this book was great, it was a little boring. not much drama, a lot of back and forth on their feelings, and it's very much a slow burn. there were times where i was fustrated where i wish they just took a leap of faith and let it happen, but nooo. there was always that fear of ruining their friendship. however, it's a great read and i can't wait to see what happens in Bliss.

Danggggg. These two are killin me. The Bestest friends ever. Cooper and Reese. Best friends to lovers?...not so fast....

Cooper and Reese love each other. Except Reese is in LOVE with Cooper, its taking him awhile and he doesn't want to jeopardize the most important relationship in his life. Agony is set while Cooper and Reese are in college. Cooper is rising to football star and very popular with everyone, while Reese, wants to just blend in and complete school. But, Reese is his most important and he wants her to experience college always next to him. But, time is running out and college is almost over, one night that could push them forward together, or drive them apart....

I loved this story, the cliffy had me whining for book 2. Kaylee really knows how to put that dagger in our hearts and twist it repeatedly. But, this is a definitely a must read book!

Oh this book's title was so appropriate. It totally leaves you in agony - because there is quite the cliff hanger with this one.

Reece and Cooper are two best friends - who are there for each other through everything. Except both are blind to the sexual tension running between the two of them, playing it off and never taking the next step. Until one day, everything changes.

Like I said this is a duet, so we will see what happens next with Reece and Cooper
