Matsuri Hino was born on January 24 in Hokkaido. She was a bookshop keeper who one day decided to become a manga artist, and all of nine months later, in 1995, she published her first manga title, Kono Yume ga Sametara (When This Dream Is Over), in Japan's LaLa DX magazine.
I honestly didn't think I'd continue this series, since I didn't feel much towards the first two installments. But somehow I ended up reading the third one as well... And it did come out with the same star rating as the first two.. There are some stories I liked more than others - I wish all of them would focus on Yuuki and Zero OR Ai as she is a very interesting character to me. I didn't need the stories about Yuuki's adoptive father, though. And I also don't care much about reading about Kaname - maybe an unpopular opinion but I never really cared for him... So, maybe a sign to definitely dnf this series?
It was a real pleasure to see the characters of the Vampire Knight series again. It’s a manga and show that I really liked and it was a pleasure to dive back into the universe and to discover a little more.
We discover several short stories featuring Yuki’s adopted father, always as funny, even if it was also very touching, but we also see Yuki and Zero who are in a relationship, or even the children she had with Kaname. I really thought the whole thing was very nice.
I think it’s a release that will delight the fans of the series!
The illustrations are beautiful as always, but this is one of the weakest entries in the Vampire Knight series, in my opinion. The stories and dialogue both felt choppy and confusing (maybe a translation issue?), and the reading experience suffered for it. It was disappointing because Vampire Knight is such a guilty pleasure of mine, and I was really looking forward to reading this. Oh well, I'll still get the next issue when it comes out.
As long as Vampire Knight exists in any physical media and continues being released, I will ALWAYS buy new releases of this wonderful, convoluted, melodramatic, beloved vampire romance....
Yuki and Zero have finally decided to give their relationship a go, after decades of being 'friendly' in the eyes of everyone else. It was also convenient that most of the detractors are dead now, so after going and personally delivering some warnings, they are free to be with each other. Even Ai is in hibernation, so things are quiet - until they aren't. The headmaster of Cross Academy is starting to show signs of decline, and that also means we are reminded of the mortality of the vampire hunter bloodline; but his longevity means Aido has a research subject. Meanwhile, stirring up more trouble are a group of anti-vampire humans that don't agree with the assimilation of the vampire and human societies, which becomes violent in this volume.
This volume was more of the quiet moments - Yuki and Zero talking about their future and their relationship, Cross nostalgically remembering about Juri and how he met her and how the idea for the Cross Academy came to be. Even in the distant future, Kaname is looking at the idyllic life of the town where he lives, wondering what it took to achieve that peace (he doesn't remember his vampire life), and deciding how he wants to live his human life. But yeah, then there was those anti-vampire folks coming in and destroying stuff, so I guess we have a new antagonist for this series?
Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review from Viz Media LLC, via Edelweiss.
This volume explored the relationship between Ruka and Akatsuki. It was really nice to see Ruka, Rima, and Yuki bonding together at a cafe over their similar experiences in love. And I really enjoyed the flashback for Haruka and Juri being the inspiration for the change in the world, the academy, that Kaien would create.
We FINALLY got to see the blossoming relationship between Zero and Yuki... still kind of a slow burn, but it did take them centuries to get here. Those two move as slow as glaciers. Honestly, my favorite part of the manga was the extra chapters were we see Ai and Seiya (Aidou/Sayori's baby boy) playing and Aidou's manly tears because Ai is very much her father's daughter (Aidou's relentless tormentor = Kaname).
I felt like this volume's stories jumped around even more than the previous ones.
Adoro Vampire Knight y adoro Vampire Knight Memories 😻
Its been a few months since I read anything Vampire Knight but I am still in love with this series.
It's great to see how everyone's live changes and progressed and how they are dealing with the grief of losing Sayori. I felt so sad when Aido thought about giving her her medicine and then remembered she wasn't there.
I am glad that Zero and Yuki have officially started a relationship but wonder how others are going to react to it especially after that bomb that went off.
I am happy that Matsuri Hino continued with this side project after the end of the Vampire Knight series. This volume contains some of the silliness (and therefore, lightheartedness) of the original series while also dealing heavily with loss after loss. It's a lot like sifting through a scrapbook and seeing pictures of the lives that were. I think this series or mini-series hits a decent stride here, and I can't help but feel sad for Kaname as he is now. :(
