Deep in Your Veins #3

Taste of Torment

Rate this book
Listening length: 10 hours, 48 minutes

It’s been five months since vampire Sam Parker Bound herself to Jared Michaels, her powerful co-commander within the Grand High Master vampire’s personal legion. Life as a Bound couple has been going just fine…until the Grand High Master announces he will be stepping down from his position and wants Sam and Jared to take his place. Oh joy. Despite Sam’s reservations, she agrees to ascend. But something very powerful has surfaced; something that is quickly decreasing the vampire population and could steal the lives of people close to Sam. At the same time, she finds herself under the scrutiny of vindictive vampires accusing her of exploiting her position as a commander – something that would threaten her ascension. Under the watchful eyes of people who would love nothing more than to strip her of her title, Sam and Jared must continue to conceal her hybrid status and find a way to fight this power that nothing before them has ever been able to overcome. If not, they stand to lose not only the people they hold close, but their future as the Grand High Pair.

Warning: This novel features a female vampire who is a ray of blunt, obstinate sunshine, a possessive alpha male vampire who considers her his only weakness, lots of bad words, some dirty talk, and steamy explicit sex.

Re-read 12th July - 13th July 2018

3.5*

Like with the previous two books I'm late reading this and since it already has so many great reviews I'll keep mine brief.

While this was another entertaining read, for me it was the weakest of the three. While I love these characters and the world that's been created, a world where vampires have different powers so you're never exactly sure what you'll get.
I just found this a bit repetitive in places and Eloise just slotted into the gap left by Magda.
Sam and Jared discover Antonio will be stepping down making them the Grand High Pair. Sam maybe nervous about this but as always she has other problems, something is killing vampires and if that's not bad enough she finds out she's has been reported to The Prelature and is now under investigation.
This book like the previous two is entertaining but I had a problem (and this could be because I've moved straight from one book to the other) with the constant recapping.
This is the third book in this series and I just don't feel so much catch-up is needed after all how many readers will start a series at the third book?

I was planning to move straight onto the next book but after scanning some of the reviews I discovered they're not as positive as they've been for the first three, this along with the annoyance of the constant catch-up means I'm taking a break but I will catch up with this at some point.

Re-Read of an old favorite! Just as good a 2nd time around!!

Ah, Jared...You make me weak in the knees!!

jared

This is an action packed adventure from start to finish!! Antonio has decided to step down and make Sam and Jared the Grand High Pair. But nothing ever runs smoothly in the Hallows. Everyone is intent on pushing Sam to her limits and making her prove just how Bad Ass she really is!!

One of Jared's Ex Scanks is taunting Sam about having shagged her man...The Hallows are under attack and Zombie Vampires are killing people left and right!!!

“It seemed that people had a habit of underestimating my blunt, crazy, homicidal ray of sunshine”

Sam and Jared prove to be worthy of their new positions, but things are about to change at the Hallows!! One thing will NEVER change; The Grand High Pair are Hot for each other!!

“There’s no way that we’ll manage to keep quiet. The mansion is packed full of people and I’m not sure if the walls are vampire-soundproof.”
He began slithering down my body. “Then don’t forget to comment on how big my dick is.”

Ah!! I love love these two together. This series has been everything I look for in a paranormal series. A hero and heroine that I respect. Humor, Erotic Sex, and Action that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

If you are on the fence about reading this series, the author's warning should be enough to sway you.

Some women might buy you a shirt or cologne. Sam would kill your ex for you.

That's our Sam. Crazy, homicidal, and deadly - what's not to like?

Good thing Jared has a little of the crazy too.

This book has tons of action. There were more evil villains than a clown college. You know all clowns are evil!! So, Jared and Sam are fighting on more than one front. And, on top of all of their other crap, the Vampire King has decided he wants to retire and have Sam and Jared take his place. Yeah, more like the King of Bad Timing.

I'm sure everything will be fine..

On top of this, they have two bureaucrats who are "observing" Sam because they say there was a complaint about how she does her job. They follow her everywhere and question every decision she makes. I really wanted to kill them.

Oh, also there is the slight matter of a vampire plague that is killing the vamp population and some of our favorite characters get it. This plague has been around for ages and yet they know absolutely nothing about it. It just kills everyone. I get the idea that not many of these vampires have the "medical gift" or the "science gift". They just lock the people in a cage and wait for them to die. Good patient care!

Because of all of these things going on, this story is just packed with action and excitement. A great third book in the series.

Told in multiple POV, Taste of Torment transcends this series to a new level. Jared and Sam are a completely unstoppable force and the passion and romance that they share are truly EPIC! I found the plot in this installment in the series to be especially raw as many of my favorite characters find themselves in danger. I have fallen in love with these characters and the world they live in. The pacing of the read is fast as the action is non stop and when life and death are on the line, I was not able to put this book down for one second.
“Don’t think I’m letting you die tonight, Sam.”
Overall, I adore this series and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance. Suzanne Wright is a truly gifted author and the Deep in Your Veins Series is one EPIC Vampire Series! I am looking forward to reading more of this series!

In this third book we have Jared and Sam after their binding and on the verge of becoming the “Grand-High-Masters”.
Not only the vampire world isn’t so sure about Sam, because of her Sventé line, but her recent hybrid status, which she has little control of and must keep secret, isn’t helping at all.
In one of their missions they found a vampire-killing disease called the “The Call” (ironic.) that is infecting a few vampires inside The Hollow and between all those problems and craziness, they’ll also have to deal with the suspect of a traitor between them planning an invasion to the island and dealing with the fact they’ll rule the vampire world in short time.
Sam is going to get through a rough time that will take a lot of her and can only count with Jared to help her troughs all of that.
Yeah, and now I’m tired.

I really don’t know how this series isn't more popular. Especially considering the other PNR series by this author (Phoenix Pack) is.
So, in case you’re missing out this and not even knowing it, let me be clear: If you’re a fan of PNR, these are must-read books.
And that’s all.

Rating: 5 Stars.
Storyline: Draining. There’s so much unexpected things happening and in shorts spans of time that will make you tired. But at the same time unable to put the damn book down. I’m sad this is the last one on the series but I’m hoping for a book about Evan and Alora.
Writing Style: First person. Dual POV. Some of the expressions and words used make me a little “itchy”, but that’s only because I’m not much used to British expressions, so I can’t really blame the author for that. Is kind of a problem of mine. Other than that, this woman writes awesome books and her writing is completely addictive.
Character Development: Sam is a badass heroine that you can’t help but love. She is not whinny or annoying and do whatever she wants without fear. But at the same time she is passionate and loyal and well, you’ll love her. Jared is the prime example of a great alpha-male and you can’t help it but love as well. The supportive characters are also awesome, but I’ve got to say I kind of missed Fletcher’s presence in this book.
Steam: Some pretty heated moments.

5 this is the end stars
“Baby, I’ve been yours since you put me on my ass and called me a pretty girl.”

Jared and Sam are back at it again, having survived their binding, it should mean they should live happily ever after right ?!? Sadly, (okay, it's not really sad at all because I didn't want to give them up yet) fate has more challenges for them to over come only this time even they are unsure if they can both make it out unscathed. With the Grand High Master wishing to step down and Jared & Sam to take his place, she has to once again prove that she is worthy too co-lead the entire vampire nation. Life for them gets even better when a dormant killer has surfaced that has already claimed the lives of so many vampires, and your being investigated for accusations on your conduct. You'd think by now people shouldn't underestimate her, because when you the people she loves are in danger, her homicidal tendencies appear.

Jared
"You’re good in bed. You get rid of unwelcome creepy crawlies. You don’t leave the toilet seat up. And, being nice and tall, you can reach all those places that I can’t reach. I reckon I got a good deal.”

Sam
“Oh you can be merciless, ruthless, and vengeful. And we both know you’re downright crazy. But you’ve got the biggest heart. And it’s mine. All mine.”

I honestly love these two so damn much, they are hilariously cute together!
“You are so bloody stubborn.”

Was she kidding? “Baby, three words: pot, kettle, black.”

“I’m not stubborn, I’m tenacious – it’s a gift and a curse.”

“It’s a pain in my ass, that’s what it is.

Taste of Torment, I'm sad to say is the last book in Sam and Jared's story, but I hope it's not the last we see of them, I'm hoping for Evan's book next (keeping my fingers crossed). They have come a long way from where they first started, their love and bond has grown but their playful banter stays the same. I truly enjoyed this series and couldn't get enough, it was good dealing with a solid couple where there really ever is any doubt of how they feel about each other, it was everything else that was going on around them that kept them busy and in the drama zone. If you haven't yet, add this series to your list and read it when you in the mood of a solid paranormal story, some laughs and heat.

Five months after Sam & Jared’s Binding and if you think things are going to be smooth for the….think again…..shit is going to fly in the vampire Hollow Compound!!!!

Antonio the Grand High Master has decided to stand down which means Jared as his heir will, together with Sam, become the Grand High Couple.
“I don’t like that you’re stepping down,” he told Antonio. “I think you’re easily capable of ruling for a hell of a long time, and I can’t imagine you not being Grand High Master. But…I committed to being your Heir, knowing this would eventually happen. If this is really what you want, I’ll support you.” He took my hand. “We’ll support you.”

Not having to deal with this…., Sam and Jared are faced with being investigated by the vampire Prelate for her suitability as squad co-leader.
Amidst all this, the Hollow is attacked by vampires bent on ousting Antonio and preventing Sam and Jared from becoming the leaders of all vampires. And furthermore, having to find a cure for the squad leaders and Sam being bitten and infected with a deadly vampire disease. The Call, for which there seems to be no cure for.

If you thought Sam was a smart-ass….think again. No one and I mean no one screws around with her or with Jared and no one should underestimate her powers…………. As Jared says…

And let me just say….Sam takes no bullshit from the baddies…..leaves no prisoners….destroy the enemy and go forward… photo tumblr_mm7qc1zmS21rhn31io1_500_zpsc1tiybo0.gif

Surprises, kick-ass action, romance, humour, new revelations, new characters, old and loved ones too, loads of drama…..….what a ride!!!!!

I am quite sad to come to the end of Sam & Jared’s story…….but it seems as if we will be going back to The Hollow and meet up with them again!!!!
Yes, Ava, who we meet briefly in this story seems to be taking up with squad member, Salem!!!!

Well, a good thing to look forward to!!!

And in the meantime, I am going to delve into this author’s other books and series!!!!!

This is a hidden gem of a PNR series that doesn’t seem to get a lot of publicity, but it absolutely should. Full of fantastic, smart-talking characters with kickass abilities, an intriguing and well fleshed-out paranormal world, lots of laughs, and of course a scorchingly hot romance, the books in this series are full of action and great fun. If you haven’t made a start yet, get on it with this - Here Be Sexist Vampires.

At the beginning of this book, there’s a good recap given on events so far, so if it’s been a while since you’ve read the first two books, you should catch up pretty easily – although please don’t think about starting the series with this one, because nothing will make sense!

This book starts 5 months after Sam and Jared’s Binding ceremony. They are still blissfully in love, happy, and shagging at every opportunity, so all is happy in their little world. And then come a series of events that threatens the peace that they have found.

Firstly, the Grand High Master declares his intention to stand down – and with Jared as his heir, it means it’s time for the two of them to step up. Secondly, serious complaints are made against Sam, bringing in officials to shadow her – watching and judging her every move. Then there are missing vampires, a deadly vampire plague, a vamp on the run, jealous exes, and a frightening premonition that will bring destruction and death and could cost Sam and Jared all that they hold dear. Phew! And it’s all tied in with fast-paced banter, brilliant verbal smackdowns, heaps of action and a love story that will have you swooning.

Sam and Jared are a powerhouse couple. They are committed, they are powerful, and they are partners in every sense of the word. Completely devoted to each other, they have a fantastic relationship full of teasing banter, dirty talk, and a whole lot of steamy time.

“You’ll pay for this”. I had to battle a smile. She didn’t bother to hide hers.
“If you mean you’re going to tie me to the bed again and make me come over and over until I can’t think straight… come and give it to me”.
“I did. You swallowed it, remember?”
“Ooh, good one.”

But underneath all of the laughs and the passion, they are madly in love with each other, and share an incredibly deep bond. Their dedication to each other is really put to the test in this one, and I absolutely love the way it was handled.

“I love you ... Baby, you’re the only ‘good’ thing that I’ve ever had. There’s simply no fucking way I’m letting anything at all happen to you. No. Way.”

The story is told from dual POV, which I love! Sam is a fantastic narrator, and I love her voice, but being able to be inside of Jared’s head is fantastic. I love his monologue, and how we get to truly see how much he loves and respects Sam – especially after their antagonistic beginning, and even with her constant sarcasm and snarkiness.

“It seemed that people had a habit of underestimating my blunt, crazy, homicidal ray of sunshine. More fool them.

With so many sub-plots, the action is constantly up and down as one problem is resolved, only for another to pop up, cause havoc, get dealt with, and then yet another problem comes up… you see where I’m going with this. It’s an exciting read, and even through there are multiple storylines, it’s all tied in to the overarching story, and keeps the story moving at a great pace.

All of the old characters are back, with some significant developments happening there (oh Evan *dreamy sigh*), and some new characters are brought into the story, creating some great dynamics and who I am sure will play a big part in the continuation of the series.

With humour, drama, romance, kickass action and some big surprises, this is a great read. There is a HEA, and no cliffhanger, but there is definitely a big hint dropped at the end that there are more books to come. And I can’t wait!

Loved it – 4.5 stars.

I enjoyed this one a lot. It was really fun to visit with Sam and Jared and the "squad" again. Sam truly is one of my favorite female characters and I love the world Wright has created in this series.

Favorite quote: "Why are you bringing up old shit? You're always doing it. Like a plunger."

Oh, chuckle chuckle. How can you NOT love a book where the female character says shit like that? Sarcastic perfection I tell you.

RE-READ June 20th, 2017

uf...what can I possibly say that could EVER draw out the true emotions this book and previous two have left me dealing with...

I never thought i would end up being a fan of fantasy or paranormal...i mean as a youngster I had a fascination with vamps for some odd reason...(fuck it, it wasn't odd at all, they were effin sexy and sensual while being scary and dangerous as hell) so when I jumped into these series and these books I really didn't think they would consume me...like totally...

I devoured the books, I have enjoyed the story filled with so much action, turmoil, angst, jealousy, envy, danger, thrill and every possible emotion known to human enhenced triple times for the vamps

...and again, the characters...simply perfect! So profoundly described, energizing captivating and overwhelming- Sam (Samantha) Parker and Jared Michaels are my new fave couple ever...

as I said I'd write a full blooded review for all three books I can't do it without spilling out the content...it is hard not to slip and share some tricky but juicy details and then what would i achieve with that...nothing other than spoiling the fun for someone who hasn't read it yet...

my message to you - READ THE BOOKS FROM THis SERIES!!!!!

they offer somewhat unique and unusual details about vampires NOT quite known so far and I had a feeling that the author maybe had a vision to bring those unrealistic creatures a little bit closer to home by making them a little bit vulnerable, a little more human like...beyond just the appearances

Sam and Jared, both vamps belonging to different sorts or vamp spieces (there are three of them: Pagori (who have super strength); Keja (who have super allure) and Svente (who have lesser bloodlust and with powerful saliva and are more like humans, they were consider the weakest of the three),

Sam being a Svente with a very powerful gift...

and Jared being a Pagori were not the sort of vamps that would go together...

the allure was around them from the first sight...

and they fought it...hard

Sam was a sassy, badass heroine and I loved her very much...

she was meant for Jared, she was meant to change his way of life...
You made me like this life, made me want it, and made me glad to have it. You made me want MORE

and Sam did just that...
she turned it all around, gain respect and acknowledgment and high position as it was destined for her to have it all BUT not without pain, hardship, grief, angst, doubt, turmoil...

nothing came to her without a fight and she fought it with heart with agility and willpower...

she was loyal to the pain, she was merciless and cruel when needed...and she was ready to give her life for everyone she cared about...

phenomenaly written female character...

and Jared didn't stand a chance LOL he developed from being a cocky, emotionless, entitled manwhore to being cocky, possessive, protective, determind lovable alpha vamp was a deal no one would pass on...LOL

"Baby, I've been yours since you put me on my ass and called me a pretty girl."

(and that happened in book 1 LOL)

oh, and I really need to mention the secondary cast here: first of all Fletcher - the gay empath friend of Sam's and hers and Jared's PA...he had me pissing myself from laughing in some scenes...

then Evan, Jared's twin...yes, yes...a fuckin twin...lol

and the squad - Salem, Butch, Chico, Damien, David, Danny, Max, Stuart, Harvey and Reuben - you vamps rocked the hell out...

the guuurls - Jude, Paige, Alora

Antonio, Sebastian and Luther...

ahhh, there's so much and so many...I have no words left and no space to write either...so

all in all, I had so much fun reading these that i wouldn't mind reading them again...

And i did RE-read them! *wink*
February 13, 2016
The plot thickens...literally. Much more of a who's the bad guy this time around, which you don't find out until the end.

Sam & Jared are now bound and living together, as married couples do. They're very sweet together, especially Jared who says the best things ever to Sam about their love. Not in a disgustingly sappy Hallmark card way either. All to reassure her, cuz her parents and sire sucked.

The plot is mainly about Sam & Jared getting ready to step up as king & queen of vampire kind, Sam being audited by some douches from the checks & balances vamp pencil pushers, and trying to keep everyone alive in spite of a possible pandemic.

A lot of the plot is taken up with the auditing pencil pushers who are both annoying and shadow Sam her entire commander workday, one naturally, one purposefully. They make Sam and the squad's life hell, especially Sam's, since she can't kill them. Bummer.

The side plots are wtf is this pandemic and how do we cure/stop it, and who's putting a wrench in the gears this time. There's no big villain to go up against until the end, more about small things. I think I prefer a villain with a bigger presence.

The disappointing part of this book - Sam's powers. She's made out to be the most uniquely powerful person, yet she doesn't really exhibit it. I didn't feel like her powers were super awe inspiring this time around, which was quite a letdown. She was much more interesting power-wise in the previous book. This one seemed more about defense fighting than offense and taking out enemies one by one. I had assumed her powers would let her have more of a bowling ball to bowling pins effect. The whips are still active, so there's that + her perpetual sarcasm.

Best part about this book - Jared. Hot damn, he's an attentive lover. He says the best things to same. They're all perfect and still in line with his alpha, bossy, sometimes an asshole, personality. I wish all male mc's could be like him.

Conclusion: more complex plot, better writing, character growth/development, some fighting, and HEA. Just not enough flashy deaths for me.

I hate sequels that adds a lot of unnecessary issues between the couple so I was glad the story focused on strengthening Jared and Sam's bond and a few problems outside their relationship.

I cant risk you. Do you understand that?

Jared was as swoony as ever and Sam was still a great heroine. The moments they shared weren't enough but amazing nonetheless.

Book 1 was my favourite but the finale, how I had a fat cheesy grin at the end, Jared ♥♥♥ and just some of the funny banter, I think this book deserves 5 stars. A great series with a vampire/x-men type romance with a good mix of steam and action.

The amount of total L-O-V-E I have for this series is just over the moon!! Seriously...Sam and Jared are the absolute best kick as vamp couple around. I have enjoyed every single moment of them through 3 entire books.. along with all the side characters. Nothing about this series ever got old at any point. Although Sam and Jared's story appears to be wrapped up I am sooooo looking forward to diving in to the next one Consumed which will be Ava and Salem's story. Really looking forward to them. And I'm sure there we'll get to see Jared and Sam here and there too.

I know, I love this series already. But well, I can’t really give it my all consuming love for it. Because well, I was expecting to be part of the honeymoon. Well, yes. The dynamics between Sam and Jared never gets old with me, the opening was a bit slow pace for me and I thought it was something else. Yeah, it was the gifts. Anyway, move on. First, I love the gang. The whole Sam and Jared and the squad. With Fletcher and his boyfriend Jude and Norm. But, Lucy was sprang out of nowhere. I mean, I know Antonio and Sebastian and Luther and they have their consorts, humans and vamps alike. But, I’ve never had a hint of Antonio’s intentions in the last book, that the news was quite a surprise to me.

And then, new people again. Ava and Christiano. And I have to learn more about them. Seriously, even with my familiarity with the squad, I still have a hard time keeping track of who’s who and then there’s some additional characters. But oh well, stuff just gotten interesting.

I think I love the whole Salem is cute and cuddly and springy Ava. Yes, they’re kind of cute but I’m still loyal with Sam and Jared. And Sam is still vengeful, and ruthless and downright crazy. And I never get old with the fucking and the kinky zapping thing.

More decisions to make, future seen that are withheld and the intrigue and mystery that needs to be investigated. Quite frankly, thinking that there are two major events, or maybe four, this might have been overwhelming but no, it didn’t. There was no bitching I’m tired I have to save this vamps stuff. And the downtime is not always about sex, so that’s a plus. I’ve enjoyed and I may have forgotten about the beginning of the book. I mean, hello, I am enjoying with all the fights, snarky comebacks and insults and waiting for Sam biding her time and what bitchiness she will do.

But, I haven’t thought about much of Jared’s future that Luther have showed him. Well, it was nothing major to be honest. There was no ‘aha moment’ nor the ‘awwww’ expression, so I think it was quite I don’t know, good enough maybe. But no matter, I love the ending. And I guess, it was just perfect. I’m ready for Sam and Jared’s next adventure and getting intimate with the squad.

So excited! Love this series!!:)

All good things must come to an end....or maybe not. I hope there is more to this series totally loved every minute of it. You get a kick but heroin and hero, steamy hotness, auction galore, and characters that I loved. The secondary characters are even wonderful, and I would really love to have some of their stories as well. Yes I am totally fangirling over this series, it was just a lot of fun. okay enough of with me.

Jared hot caveman!

Sam

Sam and Jared have some huge things coming up. It will test them as a couple and the Hollow. Sorry that is all I can say, I just don't want to ruin it for you. Loved it!

My overall feelings on this series! *sigh*

This was a solid installment. The sexy times weren’t every chapter which was a good thing.

But there were holes to this story.

SPOILERS

Why didn’t Jarod teleport the sick guys to Paige? They could have been muzzled or sedated as they were when she arrived. It seemed really stupid he felt he had to make that decision to not bring her when there were so many ways around it.

Why didn’t Jared teleport during the invasion when Antonio was making the announcements. He could have gotten Sam out, taken out the bad guy, any number of things. Yet he didn’t.

Why didn’t he teleport him and Sam when they instead ran into buildings for cover. He didn’t teleport until he needed to get the guys to safety? Why???

At the end they kept mentioning that Sam was pale. Yet this was never explained. What was the point of bringing it up if it meant nothing?

PUUUURRRRRFECT. AMAZEBALLS. AWE-EFFIN-SOME, MAGNI-FRIGGIN-CENT!!! What more adjectives do you guys need to make you understand that you have to read this series? IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT YOU READ IT!!! Do it! Grab it right now!

This series has been close to my heart for the longest time. Maybe it's because ahem, again, I love the X-men. I love action. I love powers and I love romance. This book has them all and then some more. I was completely good with the ending of the second book, but since there's a third, who am I to complain? haha. I didn't even know that there's a third book coming until very recently when a friend tagged me (you know who you are! thanks!). This has been a joyful and exciting ride for me. The best was knowing that Ms. Wright will give these characters a happily ever after. I knew that based on the pattern of her past books, so I was pretty comfortable.

The story here follows up pretty much to where they left off in the last book. They were to be crowned as the "high couple" and they were having a hard time preparing for that. Of course with all the complications like: vampire-turned-zombie-like beings, Umbridge-like people from the Prelature which somehow reminds me (forgive me for the Harry Potter terminologies) a lot of The Ministry of Magic... they were not able to focus a lot on the coronation.

Sam is still a homicidal bitch. She likes hurting mean people, but in this book, she had to have a lot of self control. Her status as a hybrid helped her a lot in this book, so I'm really thankful that the brothers in book 2 didn't reverse what they did to her. It helped her make a statement on the other vampires. Jared is also thankful for it. Unfortunately, this book also showed both Jared's and Sam's weaknesses. They were both jealous in this book and they both lacked self preservation. I'm just glad that their bond seems to be extra strong, so there's not a chance of them leaving each other.

It was very good to read about the squad again. Their loyalty is still as unwavering as ever and they are still hilarious. I love how they proved to be very good soldiers and I really love how they respect Sam.

The other chacters were very essential to he growth of this series. I like the powers of Ava and Paige. I hope to see more of them. I know this is the last of Jared's and Sam's books, but I'm truly hoping that the author will give us more of the other characters' stories. That will mean everything! ♥

Such a great book. ★★★★★ ;)

Last book about Sam and Jared....I'm sure gonna miss them. They are in my top 5 off most favorite couples that's for sure. Next book is about Salem. I will be reading that one in the future. This author is defenately one I'm gonna follow. Really enjoyed this trilogy. I also liked the fact that none of the books ended in a cliffhanger...so you can decide for yourself if you want to continue reading the next book or not. Normally I don't like multiple books about the same MC's, but these characters were so awesome, that I didn't want to say goodbye,

4,5 stars for this one !!

So this is the last book of the series, and let me tell you, this book's just

This book is sexy and damn funny! The lines are brilliantly done. There was never a dull moment. I savored every chapters. It was that good.

I love, love love Sam. She's

It's safe to say that she's one of my favorite heroines. She's strong, brave, loyal, a true leader and very protective of her people. And she loves Jared a lot, like, never shy away from admitting it so (to Jared). And I love her more for it.

And Jared, oh my !

How do I describe him without drooling? Sigh. Jared is like, the definition of an ultimate alpha-male. He loves Sam extremely.
He's so protective of Sam and he doesn't give a damn about anyone (except Antonio and his twin brother, Evan) And when it was time to choose, he chose Sam without question. As he always say "You (Sam) always comes first". Pun intended :) I mean, how can anyone not love him? I sure do!

The squad are not bad on the eyes either. I love them as well. I wish to read about their story in the near future. Please!!!!

And then the villains. Gah! I was not really annoyed by them (I was, but not so much) because I know revenge is so, so much sweeter. And it was.

The fight scenes were great. Especially when Jared showed how truly powerful he was.
And oooh the most fun part for me was the fight between Sam and Eloise
and Dana.

Two against one? Nah, there was Dexter!

As I said revenge is sweet.

So my lovely dolls if you haven't read any books by Suzanne Wright, you should start now. You won't regret it.

5 stars.
Well it is official.
I love these vampire themed Paranormal romances just as much as her two wolf-shifter series.
Great conclusion to Jared and Sam's story. Compulsive reading for me.
Plan to read the final 2 books in this series at a later date but happy to get my Suzanne Wright "fix" in.

Ok, this series is growing on me. I think I just like this couple more now that they are together and there is no longer the bickering from the first book. I think the storyline in this book and book 2 is pretty interesting. I highly recommend the audiobooks. The two narrators are doing a good job with these characters.

This was a great conclusion to the trilogy. Sam and Jared were great together and I found that I loved them even more, the longer I saw them together.

When the story begins, it's been 5 months since Jared and Sam had their binding ceremony. Things are going well for the couple and they're doing their jobs leading their squad and accomplishing whatever tasks Antonio (the Grand High Master) has for them. Now there are indications that difficulties are coming their way. The first is a pair of investigators from the Prelature. The prelature is a vampire org that is sort of like a church in that they perform the sacred ceremonies of the vampire world but they aren't religious. They oversee things as a neutral party and have a significant influence over the vampire community. Someone made false complaints about Sam's fitness as a commander in Antonio's legion and the investigators have been sent to see if the reports are true. Unfortunately, the 2 investigators aren't exactly neutral. The first, Collins, was the first vampire made by Antonio and when Antonio became the Grand High Master, Collins thought that automatically made him Antonio's heir. Collins wasn't happy to find this wasn't the case and now seems to want to cause trouble for Sam just to cause Jared issues because of his jealousy over Jared being Antonio's heir. The second investigator is a female vamp named Eloise. She had a one night stand with Jared a while back and now she's making sure to rub it in Sam's face and trying to push things to get Sam to do something that will look bad to the prelature. Sam isn't really threatened by her but having to not react to all of Eloise's attempts to get goad Sam isn't easy.

On top of this, Sam, Jared and their squad are sent on a mission and find the unexpected...a breakout of a vampire disease. Vampires are usually immune to diseases but there seems to be a specific vampire disease known as "The Reaper's Call" or just "The Call" that shows up every couple centuries and takes out some of the vampire population before it goes dormant for another couple centuries. When some of their people are bitten and infected with The Call, Jared and Sam have a lot of their hands, trying to find the cure to a mystical disease that no one has ever been able to stop before (or even really study enough to figure out how to stop it). Antonio had actually been planning to step down from the position of Grand High Master and pass the ruling spot on the Jared and Sam but this gets put on hold as they try to handle all the issues bearing down on them. Through this all, Jared and Sam hold strong together even when they have some difficulties to work through. There's a lot going on in the story as multiple plots come together in a very satisfying conclusion to the story and series. Jared and Sam continue their HEA and there's plenty of happiness to go around as a few other couples seem headed towards their HEAs as well.

I greatly enjoyed this story. The whole series was great and this was a really wonderful way to finish things off. The story had me engaged from page #1 (or maybe since book #2 might be more accurate) and I was sucked in all the way through wondering how things would turn out. I liked both Sam and Jared separately but they were perfect for each other and I loved seeing them together. I'm very satified with the way things tuned out and my only complaint is that it's over and there will be no more new stories about Jared and Sam. *sigh* Obviously, I'd recommend this story (and series). 2 thumbs up! :D

Sam and Jared still having a sizzling relationship and there are also some pretty hilarious dialogues in this book. I found myself cracking up from time to time.

It took a little to get into this series, but by book 3, I’m starting to go with the flow. I still have issues with the female narrator’s voice being too deep. The author describes her voice as husky, but to me she sounds really old, but she can act well, so it didn’t hinder my experience as it has in the past few books. I guess you can say I am getting use to it.

I like that the series kept to one couple and even though it has been some time since I have read the last book, the author does a good job in recapping the series so I wasn’t confused.

I do think there are a lot of characters in the book and I don’t really care about Jared and Sam’s squad, but that is what the book is about so I need to get with it.

Jared and Sam have that light, no fuss kind of relationship that I like to read. Jared is SUPER protective of Sam in this one and Sam wants to do her own thing because she is strong and a woman. I found it a touch annoying, but not too much.

Overall, I like having the book in the background as I work and this series has more steam than the typical pnr series you see trending on amazon so yay for that.

5 Really Cool Stars!

Final book of this series and it is sad when good things tend to end... but the good part is that i won't have to wait for another book, although I'm going to miss this series.

I love this series since the first book and it is really different from everything I have read.

It is kinda like of reading a marvel story with lots of super heroes and villains, and all have their different powers, or like x-men which i really like, but with vampires and for mature audience only.

I loved all characters but especially Sam, since the first book, she has proved her worth and has put everyone who underestimated her all in their places, furthermore she is funny, really loyal, powerful, strong, no bullshit and slightly crazy female.

And Jared is a perfect example of a strong, powerful, possessive and extremely hot male specimen.

Loved all the secondary characters too they were really funny and unique.

To sum it up, this series is awesome, it is filled with action, suspense, twists, romance, sexy times, wonderful and creative characters with cool powers and funny moments.

To sum it up again i thought this series had it all and i loved every moment of it!
