Luna Brothers #2

Doctor to the Omega

Rate this book
Vander Luna refused to accept the traditional omega lifestyle—find an alpha, pop out a few kids… No, he was going to be a warrior. When Vander fails at his one shot to get into the world’s best fighting school, what else does he have left? Despite his parent’s wishes, settling down with a man is the very last thing on Vander’s mind—but when he gets lost trekking through snow-covered bear territory, it seems fate has other plans for him.

For bears, the two worst things you can do are associate with wolves, and forsake the family business—and Pell Darkclaw has done both. A talented doctor, Pell abandoned his small clan to volunteer his skills in the wolf towns in desperate need of good healers. When he finds Vander lost and freezing in a snowstorm, Pell takes him in to nurse him back to health. The storm means no one is leaving Pell’s cozy little cabin any time soon. Just what can happen when a wounded wolf omega and a protective bear alpha are snowed in alone together?

Doctor to the Omega> is a 50k word, steamy MPreg story full of action and romance, set in an exciting and vibrant new shifter world. It is the second book in the Luna Brothers Series, and can be read as a standalone novel.

This is the second book in the Luna brothers series and I’m still loving it. This is a bit more slow burning than the first one but I think this one is really suitable to be called as a holiday read since it’s about family gatherings, forgiveness and reconnecting with your family. 😌

Vander Luna, the youngest son and an omega from Luna family, he has been dreaming his whole life to become a master fighter like his favorite brother and his father. However, as fate would bring it, during the trial for FAS academy, he had to make one of the biggest decisions of his life. Finish as soon as he can and become a student at FAS academy or give up the competition to save a childhood friend. After losing his chance to become an enrolled student at esteemed FAS, he decided to do some soul searching and planned to go the most northern town in the county by foot and do some camping there.

Pell Deathclaw is a very unusual bearshifter Doctor since he had done the two most frowned upon things for a bear, abandon his family and associate with wolves. A wayward son, he left his home to volunteer at small clinics in wolves towns and hasn’t returned home for over two years. He couldn’t understand why his parents couldn’t see how passionate he is in taking care of the patients no matter what shifter they are. All he has in his mind is his work, his patients and medicine.

While taking a walk near his cabin outside of town, he stumbled upon an unconscious omega in the snow, freezing half to death. And when he saw his face, he remembered the stubborn young fighter whom he had to rescue a couple weeks ago in FAS trial competition. He carried the omega back to his cabin and nurtured him back to health .. *ahem ahem* with some very unusual methods! 😂😜 As they were trapped in a tiny cabin due to a snow storm, our very professional doctor started to have very “unprofessional” feelings for the beautiful and skittish omega. 😁

I love the connection between Vander and Pell. It was very natural and realistic and so is the plot. The attraction between them is quite built up and not very instant. And deflowering of Vander was super hot! 😁 I loooove interspecies shifter sex! 😂 I love how by helping Vander to find his way in life, Pell also found his lost way back home. Even the ending of the novel is dreamy. Such a heartwarming and holiday appropriate read. Loved it! 😘

This book was much better than the first in the series.

The MCs are more rounded, and the connection between them more believable.

I liked the introduction of bear shifters and thought Pell was the sweetest. I also enjoyed the healing aspect and how Vander found his purpose in life.

That being said, the editing was absolutely atrocious, and, curiously enough, became progressively worse as the book progressed, almost like the author got bored proofreading halfway through and threw in the towel.

Missing words, extra words, wrong words, ungrammatical sentence structure ... I found something on nearly every single page (and believe me that when I'm reading fiction, I'm not focused on editing; these issues were just that egregious).

Characters: 4/5
Plot: 3/5 (not much happens, and a suspense element was introduced and completely dropped)
Steam level: 3.5/5
HEA: 4/5 (no epilogue)
Editing 0/5

Overall: 2.9

Though better than the first book, it wasn't by far. The story centers around Omega Vander Luna (20?) and Doctor Pell Darkclaw (27?) from North Forest Evergreen Clan. Pell is a Rescue and Healing Technician at HeliHound Rescue Inc and a volunteer for Houndsville, Pinetown and Forest Ridge, and rescues Vander while he saves another guy. They later on meet each other when Pell finds Vander hurt in the forrest, and after that, their lives were changed forever. Overall, though there was the feeling of insta-love, it's wasn't pushing at my annoyingness, so that was alright. However, little happened, and again; where's the paranormal in this series? Where's the animalistic side to each characters? Where's the difference between Alpha and Omega?
“Seeing you save that boy’s life today woke something in me. It made me realize what I want to fight for. I want the strength that you have. To strength to try and help people, even if you might fail.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance (M/M)
Series: - Series, (Can Be Read As A Standalone), Book Two.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Both?
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Not really.
Would I recommend this book/series? - No.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - 2.5 stars.

Angst? Who's she? Don't know her.

Looking for low-angst? Babe, look no further cause this is NO angst. It's sweet, it's simple, and it's just as insta-lovey as the first book. Not as much, though, because this isn't a fated mates scenario; Van & Pell's relationship actually has a pretty solid basis of attraction that was slightly lacking for me in the first book.

Also similar to the first book: things happen very fast. Issues are raised and solved quickly; sometimes within the same page. But I'm starting to realize that that might just be this author's writing style - and since I am a mood reader and this is what I was distinctly in the mood for, I'm not feeling as critical as I normally would be. The only things that I wish weren't so quick were the sex scenes. Those could've definitely be drawn out quite a bit more. They were very wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am when they should've been more indulgent.

I wanted an easy story - almost a palette cleanser of sorts to read between more complex books that require my brain to be actively engaged, and that's exactly what I got. Which isn't to say that I wasn't engaged in this story; it was adorable. But there are books that you mentally participate in and there are books that just happen to you. This book just happens to you and it's nice because you get to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the coziness of Van & Pell's love story.

4.5 ⭐️ Again - the writing style in this series is definetly not the best, but I am in LOVE with the story! And I think that even tho there are flaws with the writing, when you just get the characters and just want to keep reading cus you are hooked, it does not matter if the overall product isn’t perfect. I am enjoying these books so, so much! Truly obsessed with all the characters, and this one was so cute and I absolutly loved it!

**grm**

There was one thing that annoyed me in this book and it was the fact that sometimes the author mixed the names up, something that she/he was already doing in the first book, but I hoped would be fixed in the 2nd one or the 3rd and it didn't happen (yep I know I'm almost done with book 3 too, so..).
I must say that I liked this couple more than the first one, not that the MCs of the previous book weren't cute together in their denial and love/hate relationship, but this book seemed more mature, and also if Vander was only 20 years old (the story is set 2 years after the end of the first one)his way of thinking and talking was more mature than his age. Sure he was still naive and inexperienced, still a virgin, and he grew up too sheltered, but he was never really shy and he fought for that he wanted. Something I liked to see in these books, was the fact that the Omegas are not feminine crying kids, with no will or unable to make decisions, here they were strong and maybe stronger than Alphas. They used their minds.
Pell wasn't the usual Alpha, and if the author hadn't told me he was one, I would have assumed he was a Beta. He was protective and cared a lot for Vander, but he was also too shy and insecure. He tried to hide it and he was great, but btw the lines we could see that he just wanted to be loved and cared for, and luckily with Vander he found all he wished for. Another thing that I liked to see in this book, was the fact that Pell used condoms, he didn't just presume that Vander wanted him raw, but cherished him also in avoiding a pregnancy, giving Vander time to grow and fulfill his dreams. The fact that Pell asked Vander to marry him, before he even knew he was pregnant, and only bcs he loved him, made me like his character even more. (well I presume Vander was pregnant, bcs they both had decided to not use a condom while having sex that time, but I can't be sure he is, we will find out in the 3rd book...)

After all I said, I want to add that this was still a nice read and I will keep reading the other books in the series.

I enjoyed this book but it just seemed like there really was no challenge throughout Pell and Vanders journey to be mates. Everything that was slightly difficult during the read got wrapped up fairly quickly and efficiently. I was just looking for more. 😏

Enjoyable :)

***3.5 stars***

While Vander and Pell’s story was a quick enjoyable read, it still wasn’t as good as the first book in the series. Some areas seemed a bit more rushed than others.

Side note: In the summary in the beginning of the book, it states that this story takes place two years after the last book. I agree with that if you discount the epilogue in book one. See, at the end of the first book their son is five years old and Vander is getting his Master’s status at FAS. However, at the start of this book their child is only two and Vander has yet to graduate FAS.

Regardless, I am looking forward to Christophe’s story.

I really wanted to like this one. I didn't. I thought it started out good and I liked getting a peak into the trials. I just found Pell and Vander boring together. And...I've got questions. Where's the omega heat mark? Where did the condoms come from? How did they even know Vander was pregnant at the end? It was like oh yeah this is supposed to be MPREG we'll just throw that in there. Tada!

I'm on the fence about reading Christophe's book. If it can guarantee some excitement and some passion like the first book I'll give it a shot!

It's weird because I didn't enjoy it, yet when I tried to put it down and pick another book, I couldn't. So 2 stars for that alone: There were typos, almost no plot, weird world building (=not to my liking) and MCs with little to no depth. Despite all that, I liked Vander enough to want to see him get his HEA. Huh...

Vander and Pell made such a good couple. This was a cute and entertaining story. I loved that, in this world, an Omega has rights to education and freedom. They can choose to be however they want. I really loved the fact that they took the time to get to know one another even though they'd been told negative things about the other species all their lives. A wolf shifter and bear shifter falling in love...that was a pretty awesome storyline. This author seems to have quite the imagination and I look forward to more. The worlds built for both were nicely explained. Ashe Moon has given me a new interest! This is the first ever bear shifter romance I've read. It will not be my last. Light tension, very sweet and steamy! A good read! I've voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy and this is my honest opinion and review of Ashe Moon's 'Doctor To The Omega'.

I enjoyed this book better than the first one because this book got into the heart of the differences between the shifter cultures while the first book just focused on the shifter wolves.

Vander was adorable with a big heart and I was so happy to see him find himself and figure out what he wanted out of life instead of what he thought his parents wanted him to do. I thought it took real strength to leave all that he knew behind to go on a journey alone to find himself.

A good book.

I might be slightly obsessed with this series.
Bears! The healing thing is genius! The division between the species doesn't affect the pairing, though there is still some prejudice that they quickly get over.
Vander was such a good match for Pell and helped him heal.

Rating 2.5 (for the cliffhanger) This was a fairly simple, sweet story that ends with a cliffhanger. Vander is a young omega whose lifelong dream has been snatched away from and who is left struggling with his identity and purpose. I would note that, while the blurb leads you to believe that his parents want to push him into a traditional omega path and mating, they actually lobby pretty hard for him to find something else to major in at their alma mater, so if that trope appeals to you it doesn't come into play. Pell is a alpha bear healer who has been estranged from his family for two years and carries that hurt around with him. He also keeps himself too busy and focused to consider looking for a mate. When the two find themselves snowed in together and Vander injured, they begin healing each other emotionally as they are also falling in love. The story's tone is tender but the sex is just so-so to me . Most importantly I was very cross to find out that we leave off the mpreg part at the conception--followed by the author's postscript that we have to read the next book to get any of the pregnancy. As a matter of fact, the actual story ends at 75% of the Kindle file, the rest being devoted to a preview of the first book. One good thing was that it wasn't really necessary to read the first book to read this one (I had only read the blurb of the first one and I had no trouble following the story). Since I have KU I'll read on to the next book but I'm glad that I'm not being forced to pay for it in order to basically complete this book.

Overall I liked the story, but I found it a little bit unbalanced. In fact the character of the bear healer, Pell, was well described, and thanks to his encounter with the wolf shifter, Vander, he grew, facing his demons and becoming even a better man. The character of Vander, on the other hand, lacked of depth - his transition from fighter to healer was too smooth and quick. Furthermore, he had prepared all his life to become a fighter, and he got so afraid of a few noises in the forest, that he almost died - that was a little bit contradictory. In any case, I liked this book enough to go and purchase the first installment of the series and I think I will also read the third chapter once it comes out.

A young wolf shifter omega reevaluates his goals and twice runs into a bear shifter alpha. It's a romance and short sweet as honey. There's much less conflict than in the previous book about his brother Loch.
Typos: some misplaced punctuation, inappropriate capital letters, wrong pronouns, and several missing or extra words. There's a plot error where Vander tells Pell some things about his father, and a few chapters later Pell hears the same information and is shocked as if it's his first time hearing it.

I struggled with the first 40% of this book. It was really boring, nothing about this worldbuilding or the characters made me interested. I just didn't want to DNF this one, but I have to admit it was difficult to get myself to read. For some reason I couldn't pick up other books, I just wanted this thing to get good. I wanted to get to the hot part, the one that makes me think "YES. This is exactly why I kept reading".
Nonetheless, I had to wait an excessive amount of time to get there. There wasn't even a good amount of attraction between characters. Just this "oh, he's gorgeous, but I can't think of him that way". I was getting tired. The author gave us nothing, not even crumps to hold onto in order to keep reading. You just have to hope for it to get to the good part. YIKES.

I actually like slow burns when they don't make me this bored. I hope there's something interesting in them. It doesn't have to be sex right away, but maybe sizzling conversations? Scenes with sexual tension? Passion? Anything that makes me actually excited to keep reading. This couple was simply boring...

Until I got to the 50% I was relieved since we actually got something. Thank God.
(Side note: I couldn't help myself but laugh when Pell literally got condoms out of nowhere lol)
Now, after they finally had sex I didn't like the way they tried to justify it. "It only happened because he is an attractive alpha and I'm a good-looking omega and we're stucked here", "All we did was indulge in our urges", "We just fucked once". Seriously??? Please accept you have feelings for each other!

When they FINALLY accepted their feelings and started dating (oficially) it was kinda cute, though not really exciting. Which, again, was disappointing.
Overall, this whole book was me expecting it to get better but never really getting there.
Worldbuilding? Plot? Characters? Sex scenes? Everything just felt "meh" for me.

(Also that cliffhanger at the end made it worse. I'm not rating this 1 star because I didn't hate it, but still... I was far from loving it)

Not sure if I'm gonna read the next books. I just don't enjoy this author's writing.

The type of book I most love to read is one where the characters, though paranormal and fictional, endear themselves to you and become people you could see yourself getting to know and glad for the experience, or not. Doctor to the Omega is such a book. This is book two in the Luna Brothers series, and true to the authors’ claim can be comprehensively read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel.

In this book, you meet the two main characters Vander and Pell. Vander Luna is a wolf omega who seriously thinks outside the box. I love that he not only refuses to be a “traditional” omega, but also, when he loses his one shot to be trained as a warrior at the world’s best fighting school, strikes out into the world on a quest to determine his next move for himself, rejecting the dictates of his family and “society”. Enter Pell Darkclaw, a bear and a skilled healer. He too has refused to exist within the closed walls of tradition where, as a healer, he could easily step into his father’s practice. Instead, he moves away from his small clan and volunteers his services and skills to the wolf towns which are desperately in need of skilled healers when he is not on duty as a medic for a rescue service. Doing so he has committed the two great sins of his culture: associate with wolves and forsake the family business.

Vander and Pell, who first met during the entrance trials for the fighting school are reunited when Pell, discovering Vander in his woods; wounded, freezing and lost in a snowstorm, takes him back to his cabin to heal him. The contrasts drawn between the two characters (i.e. gentle but protective Alpha bear; fierce, independent, fierce, omega wolf) are what makes this story work so well. Moreover, the delicate weaving of societal prejudice, class and caste into the fiber of the story makes it everything but a run of the mill alpha meets omega and they have a baby story.

I enjoyed this story and have every intention of reading the series now that I have been bitten by the Luna Brothers bug. This may have been my first book by Ashe Moon but it definitely won’t be my last.

An arc copy of this book was provided to me by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Doctor to the Omega by Ashe Moon is the second book in the Luna Brothers series but can be read as a standalone and understood just fine. This is my first time reading this series and I was not lost at all.
Vander is refusing to accept the traditional omega life. He was going to be a warrior like his alpha brothers. Unfortunately, his kind heart gets him second place in warrior try outs. This means he cannot get into warrior school. So now he must try and think of what to do now. What does that mean for him? When he goes on the journey to find himself he finds way more than he bargained for.
Pell is an Alpha bear shifter. He is a doctor who treats all paranormals. His family believed in only sticking to his own kind. So, he has broken off contact with them. When he meets Vander he knows Van is his mate. But what does a solitary bear shifter who has devoted his life to saving others do with a mate?
I liked how both of these men are really finding who they are really on the inside. I also liked that Pell has a strength that comes through the pages of this book. I think Van really needs that strength to understand himself. I really enjoyed them working together. The sex is off the charts hot as well. These two just really click well together. I cannot wait to read more from this series in the future. See who falls in love next. Oh and the ending of this book is amazing you just have to read it!!

This is the first book by this author that I've read. Doctor to the Omega was an entertaining read with relatable characters. I enjoyed the world the author has created as well. Usually with shifter stories, there are humans and it's sort of contemporary or alternate history US, just with shifters as well as humans. But this felt like an entirely different world, and I liked the picture that was painted. It felt real and inhabited and interesting.I also liked how Vander and Pell don't fall into stereotypical alpha/omega roles. Their relationship developed believably, and I was with them on their journey 100%.

Only a few minor things kept this from being a 5 star book, for me.

I did wish there a little more conflict within the story, to see Vander and Pell's relationship deepen against adversity. Not that there wasn't ANY conflict, but what there was felt like it was resolved easily. However, if you're looking for a book that's light on angst, this would be a good read.

The other thing is a bit of a silly nitpick, but it stuck in my head and kept making me stumble as I read... but Vander and Pell spoke to each other while in animal form, out loud. I'm not used to that outside animated movies, and it threw me for a loop.

But otherwise, Doctor to the Omega was cute, fun, sweet, and a little sexy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes A/O or shifters.

Vander, an Omega wolf shifter, wants to prove to his family that he has what it takes to be a fighter. Except when he goes and takes the test he fails and loses all of his self-worth and confidence. He struggles with accepting what he should do next. Stricken with uncertainty he decides to embark on a journey by foot - to seek answers or embrace nature, he isn't really sure. Pell, an alpha bear shifter is on his own in a little town working as a doctor. He left his family years ago because he had a desire to help those less fortunate in need. Settled in the heart of the woods, Pell lives off the beaten path where he can decompress and have space to shift. One cold, winter night Pell comes across a hurt Vander. He takes the poor Omega in and nurses him back to health. But the winter storm is just beginning, and after a couple nights stuck together a wolf and bear may find out they have more in common then they thought, and the chemistry may just brew to the surface.

I enjoyed this novel. This was the second book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone (I haven't read the first one). I loved the chemistry between the two characters. I found it interesting that Pell was a bear shifter and it was cool to see the differences between wolves and bear shifters in this universe. I really enjoyed the background of Pell's upbringing. I loved the ending too! I definitely recommend reading this book!

I really enjoyed this book!

Vander is a wolf shifter who learns that a change of plans doesn’t mean the end of the world and Pell is a workaholic bear shifter dealing with family issues who learns that life is more than just work.

First of all, I truly like that in this universe that Ashe Moon had created, the Omegas have professions, give voice to their desires and they aren’t the low of the low of the shifters society as the Omegas are portrayed in several other stories. Yeah, they submit to the alphas in certain ways, mostly sexual, but they’re not slaves or objects.

In this universe, the wolf-shifters are wealthier than the bears-shifters and there are some prejudices from one society to the other. So I would have like a little bit of more drama with their parents, especially Vander’s mother, when they find out about their relationship.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book of the Luna brother's series

This was another great read this time it's the youngest Luna brother Vander/Van Van has always wanted to be a fighter despite being an Omega . And he finally gets to prove his worth when the trials for admittance is held at the fighting school . Van has worked hard and trained even harder and just when Van is about to successfully last the admittance to the school last the tragedy strikes when Van helps another fellow student who's about too drown thus misses his chance to qualify as a fighter . Depressed that's despondent Vander decides that he need space to figure out what to do so he decides to travel too find himself . I really like these books I like the main couples although there's some drama it's not over the top . I'm looking forward to the next book in this series which brother will get their happy ending next .
