I’ve read all of this authors books and I absolutely love when characters from other books show up in the story I’m reading. All her books take place in Kensington and I saw another reader hate on this but I think it is a key aspect to her stories. I" Read more of this review » |

Listen here, everybody wants to be the sun—the one who just shows up, they walk into a room, and they rise like the sun to brighten up someone’s day, the person who makes everyone feel warm inside. But see you, you’re different. You’re the moon, and we need more moons in this world. Those are the people who cast light into the darkness for the poor, downtrodden souls who can’t see their way through. You keep being the moon, sugar, that’s how you’re making a difference in this world.”

Family and friends need not understand your decision. It is not your job to convince them. No one should ever have to make someone understand why you should be loved or why you’re important.

Remember that survival isn’t for the weak; it takes more strength and determination to walk away rather than continue to take it. After losing so much of what you held close, don’t be afraid to do what is right for you. Stand up for what you need. Find and hold on to your happiness and peace.

“JUST LISTEN
“When your mind is quiet and you listen closely, you will hear the children weeping silently. If you can’t quite hear their cries, then listen with your eyes. These are the children of the streets, who have learned pain and suffering before they ever had a chance to experience life. Do not ignore their cries for help, for all they wish is that you will rescue them. They do not have a family that wants them, they don’t know how it feels to be loved and they’ve never lived anywhere that felt like home…the streets are where they find their voice and relief from all of the suffering.
Just listen and you’ll see them.”

What can I say about this book....From the moment I read the description, I waited for Paige to send me a copy in the mail(Thank you sooooo much Paige) I was not by any means disappointed! I applaude Paige for taking the chance to write about issues that some would find over the top and outlandish. I, myself, could relate to some of the occurrences that developed through "When Smiles Fade." "Normal" people would think these types of experiences don't exist, but in reality, they do! Alot more than most of us would like to admit. Being in law enforcement I have been jaded by what I have seen and wish that most of the victims could find a more encouraging way to survive, when faced with the same circumstances as Emma. I almost had to chuckle though, at the amount that Emma did, in fact, get away with. And anyone who was fully engulfed in the book, as I was, would not have been surprised by the ending. Well done Paige, I bow my head to you, please keep writing
I'm on break from school and start back on the 11th of March, I see that you've finally come out with your new book! and since I have oodles of time to catch up on my reading... welp, I just bought your newest and I am super excited to read it. Thank you for giving me another good read! :D (And something to do besides chores) ;)
