Come al vago apparir di Primavera
Del suo bel mant’adorna
Ride la terra del bel fregio altera,
Così d’intorn’a noi di fiori ed herba
È ogni sponda superba
A la luce gradita
Di quella che può darmi mort’e vita.
E’l Re de fiumi Padre
E le Ninfe leggiadre
Con gli amati Pastori
Di letitia sovente
In dolci modi
Cantano le lor lodi.
Hor noi lieti e contenti
Gratie rendiam’ al ciel
Con lieti accenti,
Ch’anzi morte d’un don unico e raro
ch’a pochi dà non ci fia stato avaro.

German translation
So wie beim lieblichen Erscheinen des Frühlings,
mit seinem schönen Kleid geschmückt,
die Erde den schönen Schmuck bejauchzt,
so ist rings um uns von Blumen und Kräutern
jeder Rain prächtig
vom geliebten Licht
jener, die mir Tod und Leben geben kann.
Und der Vater und König der Gewässer
und die hübschen Nymphen
mit den geliebten Hirten
singen vor Freude oft
in süßen Weisen
ihr Lob.
Heute erweisen wir freudig und zufrieden
Dank dem Himmel
mit frohen Gesängen,
dass vor dem Tod er durch ein einzigartiges und seltenes Geschenk,
das er nur wenigen gibt, sich uns gegenüber nicht als geizig erwiesen hat.

English translation
Like at the lovely appearance of spring,
adorned with her beautiful garment,
the earth exults at her beautiful attire,
so round about us from flowers and herbs
every bank is superb
by the beloved light
of her that can give me death or life.
And the father and king of the waters
and the pretty nymphs
with the beloved shepherds
often for joy
in sweet modes
sing her praise.
Today joyous and content
we offer thanks to heaven
with merry songs,
that before death, by a unique and rare gift,
given only to few, it hasn’t been niggard.
