Gerard's Way
We’ll start with the final surprise — that Gerard is officially taking over as the new captain of the 118!
Speaking for the entire fandom, Guzman shares his reaction to the jaw-dropping twist: “I was just like, ‘Wait a second, we’re losing Bobby again? And to this a-hole?!”
Krause chooses to look at the glass half-full. “I like them butting up against each other,” he tells TVLine. “I could see Gerard having a real grudge against Bobby for getting all this positive attention after he took over Gerard’s firehouse, and now we he wants it back.”
He doesn’t know any specifics about which “legitimate or illegitimate obstacles” Gerard will employ to keep Bobby from reclaiming captainship of the 118, but Krause is certain that showrunner Tim Minear “has a plan that will be very satisfying.”
Guzman sees Eddie having to play things by ear next season, and he hopes that working under Gerard doesn’t have a negative impact on him.
“Eddie doesn’t really know Gerard yet, but from what he’s heard, he’s the worst parts of a human being,” Guzman says. “So is that going to propel Eddie to go back to what he came from — a ‘masculine’ man who doesn’t talk about his emotions? Is that going to make Eddie go back to a version of himself that didn’t lead him any anywhere healthy? Who knows. If you take that away, all kinds of chaos can happen.”
Lonestar already did this finale twist, I’m hopeful it’ll all be resolved by the first episode of season 8.
That’s the first thing my dad said when they hit us with that twist.
Literally what I said.
well not what I would have expected but still satisfying now I have time to catch up since CTV Drama is airing the show from the beginning, and we still have the return of Lonestar to look forward to, god I missed everyone, hell I missed everyone so much that I completely forgot Grace’s husband’s name
I think it may have been Judd
That’s the first thing my dad said when they hit us with that twist.
Gimme more Buck & Tommy now! I adore them.
Love Buck and Tommy, they are cute and adorable. ♥️😊♥️
So ADORABLE! I specially loved how he turned Buck opening up emotionally to him in a disgusting daddy kink joke! So funny and romantic, oh wow!
If I was confident in the writing and direction of the show I’d say that was a clear hint about the overall shallow nature of their relationship and potential incompatibility, but I’m not sure what is going on lately. Who knows what they are planning for Buck anymore. I just know Tommy ain’t it.
Tommy and Buck are so wholesome, I love how they support each other, snd make each other feel loved for something other than their looks. It’s something Buck lacked on previous relationships and I didn’t expect he would get at first try. I love how he seems to light up the Tommy I used to know from the origin episodes. And i can’t wait to see more scenes between them!
I saw Buck try to open up to Tommy, and Tommy was dismissive (“your dad is still alive”) and then made it about sex so…if anything, this is continuing the pattern of someone being into him for looks? Where is this mutual support? Never mind love, after a handful of dates. It is really giving me Abby 2.0 vibes, but even Abby and Buck felt like they were more even. The question is whether Buck makes the same mistakes than he did in the past.
Then again, it’s no early for Buck and Tommy to have a bedroom scene, no one knows what is Buck ready for at this point. So I love how the show portray that’s not a problem with this subtle hints between them. Buck feels loved and Tommy seems happy. And they seem to have their own space outside of work, which is amazing considering they both worked on the same house at one point or another.
*It’s too early (instado o)f no early
I’d love to watch this alternate version you seem to have, because in no way has Tommy show this so called support you said or even made Buck feel loved…
No thank you. That ship has had minimal development and minimal chemistry, which is the fatal flaw here, but tonight sealed the deal. Having Buck show genuine vulnerability to try and connect and Tommy brushes it off and brings up Daddy kink. I’m no prude but he came across so insensitive. I hope that was intentional and a sign of differences to come because Buck needs to be single for, like, more than three episodes.
I have tried to be open-minded but I don’t like Tommy for Buck. I agree with everything that you wrote. I feel kind of let down by how they handled Buck’s self-discovery journey overall, but forcing him into a relationship does it a disservice. He has so much to learn about himself and his new way of life, so singledom and/or casual dating is my preference.
I love this series 911. It is very entertaining to watch. My guess on to who started that fire at Athena and Bobby’s house, were the people that ran that rehab facility where Bobby’s sponsor died by gasoline being poured on him, and set on fire.Bobby and Athena had May go there undercover, to find information. I think those people took revenge somehow, and set the fire, not Amir.
The episode said who set the fire: Herman, the old guy who worked for the cartel and wanted revenge for his grandson’s death.
They implied it was the guy who used to work with the cartel, but was that confirmed? When Athena said she was Mrs Bobby Nash, he didn’t really respond like someone who just burned their house down.
I thought the random neighbor who was in the house was suspicious. What are the chances that Athena doesn’t know a neighbor who has been living there for years?
Yeah, you are right, Amir believes Herman set the fire and even says so to Herman, who has a non-commital response: “oh you mean the one who forced me off the road and left me there to die?” On the other hand, Polly Martin the neighbor looks squirrelly when she asks, “Did everyone get out okay.” And her “things you can replace, people….” seemed to have an double meaning that will be revealed in season 8!
The neighbor was only there as a plot device so Athena could borrow her car .
Introducing a new named character and giving her a back story – neighbor of 11 years who lives four houses down – seems a needlessly complicated way to put Athena in a car. I guess we will find out next season whether Polly Martin is a one episode guest spot or a recurring character that has a complicated history with Bobby and/or Athena.
This was…not that great? 🫣 Obviously super relieved that Bobby survived! But I was very underwhelmed by this (and more than a few things about the last few episodes). Yes, I understand the limitations of a shortened season impacted by strikes. And you always have to suspend your disbelief watching this show. But it reeeally tested my limits tonight – like WTF with Gerard???
Christopher leaving was honestly almost as upsetting as it would’ve been if Bobby died. how DARE they! Hope they get Gavin back in Season 8!
I’m not even sure if Buck and Eddie still have something in common without Christopher in the picture. The scene seemed to imply Buck used to intercede whenever father and son couldn’t communicate: without a son there’s no role for him in that dynamic.
Throughout the show time and time again they showed how Buck and Eddie are friends OUTSIDE of their basic co-parenting dynamic. If you simply watched the show you’d know that…
Even with this short season, they showed it. You just need to watch it.
There was a dedication to someone at the very end. Who was it? How was the dedication significant?
https://tvline.com/news/911-crew-member-dead-rico-priem-1235238894/
It was a dedication to. Rico Priem, who worked as a grip on the show. He died in a car accident earlier in May. He was heading home after working an overnight filming on set.
Their crew member who got in a car accident and died after working a 14 hour shift a few weeks ago.
He was a grip on the show, as well as several other projects. He died in a crash driving home following the second of two fourteen hour shifts. I know from experience driving exhausted is just as bad, if not worse than driving under the influence. If you are tired, pull over and stop someplace safe or call for a ride. The life you save may be your own.
The finale wasn’t bad. But it was so underwhelming…
And Buck spent ALL DAY in the hospital with those clothes and then didn’t even shower or change for his date??? NASTY!
The fact you are praising that disgusting dialogue, with Buck being happy about his father not dying, opening up and T reducing it to a kink joke was so insulting. As a bisexual person, I’m so tired of being sexualized on TV. They promised to do better and they failed miserably.
The finale was disappointing, a complete letdown. I understand a shortened season has its disadvantages but many characters were so outside the established that it makes me wonder it the showrunner even likes the show anymore.
I’m sorry Ally, but you seem confused. I never “praised” the date, which I hated by the way. I mentioned the fact that Buck spent an entire day in the hospital and didn’t shower (which would be the best option) or at least change his shirt (the bare minimum), that’s disgusting, nasty and unhygienic…
LOL
When Maddie answered “Maddie Han.” ❤️❤️
I loved that they are married now!!! It took a lot for them to get here. More Han-Buckley family scenes!
This is the first season of “9-1-1” I’ve watched in real time, and based on feedback I’ve read over the back half of this season, it’s been different in tone from previous years (whether due to the compressed season or the move to ABC is perhaps hard to say, at least for now). I was legitimately concerned about Peter Krause’s continuing role, since I haven’t historically followed BTS scoop (like actor contract lengths and negotiations) for this show. I kept flashing back to Will suddenly being gone on “The Good Wife” and how well that was kept under wraps, fearing something similar could be going on here. (I don’t suppose my mental connections between Krause and Will’s portrayer Josh Charles as former colleagues and besties on the short-lived gem “Sports Night” have anything to do with it…)
In the actual episode, there wasn’t a ton of time to worry about Bobby because Athena was busy being badass, but I was okay with it. Even if his recovery was fairly low-key, I found his last scene with Amir powerful. It also felt a bit anticlimactic skipping the immediate fallout of Marisol and Chris walking in on Eddie and Kim, but honestly, I’d rather watch an Eddie/Buck debriefing scene anyway. Ryan Guzman gutted me when saying goodbye to Chris. Eddie is already such a lonely character and without Chris or, to some extent, Buck (who’s busy getting busy with Tommy) – yikes, this has the makings for a cruel summer. I’m hopeful this will lead to growth for Eddie, though, with some self-exploration and examination of his priorities. (In the meantime, thank goodness for fanfic.) Maddie and Chim taking in Mara seemed very far-fetched in terms of the timeline, but I can’t even hate on the development for poor Mara’s sake. I’ve seen enough of Gerard in prior episodes to know this is gonna be some kind of bumpy ride, but I have a terrible time to this day looking at Brian Thompson without immediately seeing Alien Bounty Hunter.
Sports Night, that was a great show. I have the DVD and just rewatched it recently.
And the funny thing is that now, having just finished this episode of 9-1-1, with Peter Krause, I’m gonna watch an episode of The Veil, with stars Josh Charles.
Buck showing his vulnerability and saying that Bobby is like a father to him only for Tommy to make a sexual joke about it?? That man is so gross…
Buck definitely didnt seem to mind, sooooo… Maybe its just you.
I’ve no idea why you said that Buck didn’t seem to mind, since we don’t actually see his face. Only Tommy’s when he says “I hope so”…
You’re so right here. Just gross.
It must have been so satisfying for Buck after all that time he spent trying to compete for Tommy’s attention. Not only he has his boyfriend’s attention now, his boyfriend also finds satisfying to be with Buck.
Sad that Christopher is gone, but hopefully not forever. And if it gives them a chance to do something more interesting with Eddie in terms if character development, then it’s worth it.
It’ll be interesting seeing how Buck works underneath Gerard given Gerard’s bigotry and how this bonds him and Tommy further.
Very glad Bobby isn’t going anywhere.
I was hoping for more
during Bobby’s hospital stay. I expected some tears from Athena and Buck especially with Angela being such a powerhouse actress and the relationship that Buck has with Bobby! It was all too low key! So glad Bobby made it through though! Even though it was rushed…super sweet of Maddie and Chim to take in Maura! Chris better hurry up and come back! Looking forward to season 8!!
He was a grip on the show, as well as several other projects. He died in a crash driving home following the second of two fourteen hour shifts. I know from experience driving exhausted is just as bad, if not worse than driving under the influence. If you are tired, pull over and stop someplace safe or call for a ride. I just want Tommy gone. That character alone completely ruined the Bi Buck storyline. I cannot watch his scenes. He is the worst of the worst of all of Buck‘s love interests.
Why am I getting flashbackks from season 1… Some people (mostly delusional shippers) just hate seeing characters happy. Its basically “If my ship aint happening, everyone should be miserable and alone”.
Flashbacks from season 1? What the heck are you talking about? There was only Abby back then. Eddie showed up on season 2…
First of all, what does season 1 have to do with this? Second, that person didn’t even mention another “ship.” You don’t know what is what is motivating them. But news flash – people can prefer different ships but still be objective about what is happening and whether it seems interesting. The more we see of Tommy, the less I like him and see him as a good match for Buck. They messed up by trying to force a relationship instead of letting Buck be single.
Can’t wait for season 8. Great show been watching since the beginning.I love Angela Bassett she is my favorite actress beautiful woman!
I Love Athena Waiting To Exhale Moment.
Love live the show.
Love Bobby, Athena, Buck, Eddie,Hen.
The new story lines seem to be umm different.
These characters are all amazing. Not keen on Tommy
Need to find somebody much nicer for amazing Buck.Do not want Bobby to go!!
Buck needs to open his eyes he is with a guy that calls him kid, then basically says he hopes he has daddy issues in what I assume was meant to be a flirty way but gave serious bad vibes. There is no chemistry there at all and it was under a minute of screen time we didn’t need to see it did nothing for the storyline. Let’s hope S8 starts with Buck saying Tommy has moved away for work and we can see Buck have some fun go on a few dates see what’s out there. Would also be fun if he let Bobby and Athena stay in his loft and he stayed with Eddie (Christopher’s room is free for a while). Nothing makes Buck happier than helping the people he loves!
Oh honey… There comes a time in every shippers life to put away childish things and grow up :)
As much as I hate his character, I love Brian Thompson as an actor (and have for decades). He does a really good job of playing really bad guys. I kinda wanna see him and Bobby butt heads in Season 8
Me, too!
Got a chuckle when my friend’s daughter recognized him as the bounty hunter alien. It blew her mind. Not keen on the story right now but him and Peter would play off each other nicely.
They never would have put Girard in a position of being Hen’s captain again. No way.
Best part was that Theo wasn’t the one who set the fire.
Love that Buck has found himself someone as freaky as he is! BuckTommy is such a great ship.
Glad that Bobby is okay and while I’m sad that Chris is leaving, it will be good for Eddie to have that time. But honestly the part that made me cry a little was when Chim and Maddie took Mara in! What a sweet thing to do, these people love each other so much <3
The Gerard stuff should be interesting although I think Hen and Chim should get an employment lawyer on the phone ASAP. Buck knows one!
Athena (mrs bobby nash) going full on Terminator to find arson boy nurse — love it !! It was an OK finale. I mean nothing was left hanging so to speak. Sorry to see Christopher go, that was kind of an odd storyline anyways. Yawn.. but the heartstrings got pulled when Bobby was with his family and the traveling nurse made amends together… He at Chim’s..surprised with joining families…. tied up the end of the season in a nice bow.
