Outreach Case Studies
EnviroStars Green Business Program
When twenty-odd local governments and utilities in Western Washington banded together to create a regional green business program, it was important to have a comprehensive marketing strategy to reach businesses — especially small and minority-owned businesses.
For two and a half years, I led a marketing committee of agency staff and a consultant team to create a marketing strategy and implement major marketing initiatives.
Brand Development
Logo Refresh
Since the EnviroStars brand was adopted from an existing program, I designed an updated version of the logo.
Website Update
The program website needed an upgrade to improve the experience for businesses. I provided editorial guidance and prepared content.
Material Design
The committee built a library of marketing tools; I contributed design, writing, and review of consultant work. With limited budget for direct outreach, the program provided member agencies with design and content templates for everything from press releases to social media to postcards.
Outreach
Program Launch and Business Recruitment
I oversaw several targeted business recruitment campaigns that included advertising and prize drawings. The committee developed sponsorship packages and organized a media launch.
Business Engagement and Recognition
Newly recognized businesses received a welcome kit, including a guide I designed to maximizing the marketing value from recognition. To bolster ongoing recognition for businesses, I created a holiday social media campaign to highlight participating retail businesses to consumers.
Local Outreach and Recognition
I also led Kirkland’s local outreach effort for the program, raising awareness among Kirkland businesses and consumers.
