The Batman actor Robert Pattinson dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to share what it was like taking up the Dark Knight's mantle — literally. The newest Bruce Wayne shared that he performed his screen test in a mashup of the batsuits from Batmen past, and that "every single one still has the actor's kind of sweat."

"I tried on all of them," said Pattinson. "It's the size of your head that's the defining factor, and I think the body fit more on Val Kilmer's one, and the head fit on Clooney's one. So I kind of Frankensteined it. But either one didn't really fit, and you've got like three costume workers just trying to squeeze your legs into this 30-year-old foam costume which is just disintegrating as you're getting into it."

Pattinson also discussed how he worked to make make The Batman's caped crusader his own, including working out the pivotal voice.

"I wanted to do a radically different thing to all the other Batmen," said Pattinson. "I just thought because everyone does this kind of gruff, gravelly thing, and like, I'm gonna do the opposite, I'm gonna go really whispery. And I tried to do it for the first two weeks, and it just looked absolutely atrocious. They told me to stop doing it. But then I found out... that's what Christian Bale [originally] did on Batman Begins as well."

The Batman swoops into theatres Mar. 4.
