[edit]Inherited from Malay daulat, ultimately from Arabic دَوْلَة (dawla, “state”). Cognate of Classical Persian دولت (daulat), Hindi दौलत (daulat, “wealth, riches”), Javanese ꦢꦲꦸꦭꦠ꧀ (daulat, “blessing”), and Tagalog daulat (“happy fortune; bliss; misunderstanding”).
