Convert into an extraregion

[edit]

This article should be converted into an extraregion, as its Indian part is already covered in Sundarbans National Park. If it is converted into an extraregion, this article would be breadcrumbed in Bengal and the Bangladeshi part would have its own article. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 18:28, 21 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Support. I do agree that the current organisation isn't very ideal. I would move this page to Sundarbans (Bangladesh) as the travel content in this article mostly focuses on the Bangladeshi side, fix all the links and then convert Sundarbans into an extraregion per your proposal. Does that work out? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 08:08, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
That is my proposal of course. I'll create a draft article at User:Sbb1413/Sundarbans (Bangladesh) soon. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 12:31, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
And one other thing, should the article be called Sundarbans (Bangladesh) or Sundarbans Wildlife Sanctuary? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:01, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sundarbans (Bangladesh) is preferred, as the latter seems to be more like a made-up term with the analogy of Baja California in Mexico, which consists of two states viz. Baja California Norte and Baja California Sur. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 18:49, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Support extraregion, and also support moving this to a Bangladeshi name, and creating a new Sundarbans article for all of Sundarbans oppose name change /I changed my mind on this per discussion under this comment/. Cross-border geographic region. Also support breadcrumbing in Bengal. But there is no need to disambiguate the name from anything, such as from Sundarbans National Park; that article is already disambiguated by virtue of the "natural park" part. Precisely because this is a cross-border region, it should not have a name of a country in the title. I disagree with the argument that because the article currently focuses mostly on the Bangladeshi side, it should bear the name of Bangladesh; instead the content may need be updated to include relevant information on both the Bangladeshi portion and Indin portion (but not too duplicatively with respect to Sundarbans National Park). If there is consensus for the name to be Sundarbans (Bangladesh), then I oppose breadcrumbing in Bengal, as this article would then deal with an extraregion within Bangladesh. If there is going to be consensus that an extraregion article specifically about the Sundarbans part within Bangladesh should exist, I prefer Sundarbans Wildlife Sanctuaries (plural, as there are three zones; or Sundarbans wildlife sanctuaries, I'm a bit unsure about capitalization), both to 'Sundarbans (Bangladesh)' and 'Sundarbans Wildlife Sanctuary' (singular). I think you have misunderstood my proposal. I want to make this article an extraregion and create a new article under Sundarbans (Bangladesh) (or Sundarbans Wildlife Sanctuaries if you like). I don't want to rename this article to Sundarbans (Bangladesh). Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 04:25, 25 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think I understood it, but my comment is probably a little convoluted because I tried to respond to the proposal to move the page as well. Meanwhile, I considered better some of the implications of your general proposal, and I settled on supporting SHB2000's idea to move this article in order to preserve history of the Bangladesh-related content. It's better than creating a new Bangladeshi-part-of-Sundarbans article, and moving a great deal of content from here to there. This means that a brand new article would be created under this same name. Twsabin (talk) 22:00, 25 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'll apply the proposal and create a dab page under Sundarbans. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 09:45, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
