Release date

[edit]

I think we should wait until major trades (Deadline, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter) or other reliable websites like Bloody Disgusting or Collider report a release date. The first source that @KingArti: added only said "Neon opens Perkins' Longlegs film in theaters sometime in 2024 - stay tuned for the exact release date & more horror updates". Not sure TheFirstShowing.net is a reliable source for Wikipedia. @Cinemacriterion: added The Numbers, which has July 12, 2024 for the US and July 11, 2024 for Brazil.[1] Where did they get the dates? I'm not saying that it's not the correct release date, but I think we should wait until a more reliable source reports this. Mike Allen 19:43, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What is an erratic man?

[edit]

What is an "erratic man". I've added a "clarification needed" tag twice; the first time it was replaced with "an erratic, almost ghostly man", and the second time with "an erratic, almost pale man", which became "an erratic, pale man". Why the obsession with "erratic"? Would "odd", "strange", "weird" or "unearthly" not make more sense (I haven't seen the film, so I don't know precisely how he looks the first time he appears)? I can see someone you know behaving erratically, but I can't imagine seeing someone for the first time and thinking, "he looks erratic." 2001:BB6:47ED:FA58:493:6C75:458:6663 (talk) 13:06, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

you haven't watched the film.. and you're critiquing someone's use of the word 'erratic' to describe a guy who's probably acting a little out of the ordinary. big deal. it's called a synonym 86.29.34.168 (talk) 23:05, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have no opinion either way, but I would like to see this matter resolved. 2600:1700:8D41:8880:51AE:2526:9CEF:5566 (talk) 06:26, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reception

[edit]

Why is box office and critical response under “Release” instead of a “Reception” section like most other articles about films? 2605:AD80:12:20:5405:7860:1712:62DE (talk) 13:31, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy section?

[edit]

Hi all- seeking opinions on the best way to approach the film's controversy. There was a significant amount of criticism from reviewers accusing the film of being either transphobic or homophobic. Given how extensive the social media debate was, I think its had a significant impact on the film's reception and is worth mentioning. There was at least enough true "controversy" that the director had to address it publicly and denounce transphobic behavior! However, there isn't a single cumulative source describing the issue in its totality, so I can't really justify creating a whole new section for it. It also hasn't lead to any specific consequences like a boycott, etc (yet) other than poor reviews. Perhaps it could be folded into an audience reception section... any thoughts? "Broad opinion" defined by MC categorization

[edit]

Sundayclose, we don't characterize Metascore categories and/or RT's Tomatometer as "broad opinion", and we don't remove sources that directly mention critical reception because they disagree with our invented notion. If one or more reliable sources report/describe critical reactions, we obviously use it on the page. ภץאคгöร 08:07, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
