1935 Hoffman X-8 was made once only:
- designed/built by automobile engineer Roscoe "Rod" Hoffman, Detroit.
- Hoffman owned it until 1961, then in Brooks Stevens museum until 2010
- all-steel body by Budd, originally gunmetal gray, painted "Packard blue" by Stevens
- X8 prototypical engine (8 cylinders laid out as an "X"), water cooled, overhead valves, twin cams, 170 cubic inches
