And upon opening the book, I was surprised that it was actually signed! Aren't I just lucky.
To be honest, this book is not my taste so I didn't really enjoy it as much as I would want to. But taste aside, I have to admit that it was a pretty good book. It's my fault that I wasn't able to get into it, not the book's nor the author's fault.
Overboard is different than any other book I've ever read. It's about a sinking ship and helping each other to survive. In some ways, it's also about fate and faith. It's about friendship and not giving up. It's about the difference between being positive and being realistic.
It was scary in a way that it was too real. It already happened, so what's preventing the same thing from happening to anyone? It really made me think and somehow it also made me a bit uneasy, thinking over that fact.
Overboard was a quick and gripping read. It had my heart racing and I really connected with the main character. It was only when I finished reading that I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. This one is definitely a unique and interesting read. It's not for me, but I still recommend it. ...more

I read a book about a main character who is blind before in Wattpad and I loved it, so of course I was anticipating this one. I was expecting this to be a bit depressing given the situation, but no. The main character is so snarky and her friend Ben is a ten-year-old smart ass. Gosh, I have so much love for this book, and I read this just at the right moment.
The journey that the main character took was fantastic. She didn't rely on anyone else but herself, and she changed mostly for herself too. Yes, Ben and other circumstances were catalysts, but she changed and snapped out of it because of her own realizations and not because she fell in love or was told to do so. This book took me to a roller coaster of emotions; I smiled, laugh, cried and bawled my eyes out. (And yes, I realized that I said cried and bawled my eyes out because those were the stages of my crying.) But what I loved about this book was that even though I cried my eyes out, it made me feel so happy and so full of life. It made me feel so inspired that I just wanted to jump up and start really living. The book was just so honest, so gritty, and so full of life.
Romance was not a central part of this story. It was only on the side that Maggie and Mason's romance bloomed, but oh my gosh, I still felt a rush of feels. This book is also filled with lots of amazing quotes, and now my copy is full of pink tabs because there were just a lot of amazing passages. I haven't rated a contemporary book 5 stars in a long time, but this book is no doubt a solid 5! I couldn't even put this book down while I was reading it, and when I absolutely had to, it was like the Choppin + Clarissa song in Maggie's head - it's constantly there on my mind.
I was a little sad that this book had to end, but I realized that for me, the story will never end because I will bring it with me in my heart wherever I go. This book is just full of meaning, emotions and life; it's monumental. If you haven't read the book yet, then what the heck are you waiting for? Hurry up and go buy yourself a copy! This is definitely a must-read....more
When I started reading Under the Never Sky, I didn't think that I would enjoy it as much as I did. I didn't understand what Aether was and what realms were. It was an effort for me to understand what was happening. But, after a hundred pages, the explanation finally came. The explanation of terms came a hundred pages too late for me, and I felt like there was no way that I would like the book now.
However, after those explanations got out of the way, I found reading the book much more enjoyable, as it didn't take any more effort at all. Despite my earlier thoughts, I found myself actually enjoying the book - from the plot, to the writing, to the characters. I got sucked by Veronica Rossi's beautiful writing into her vibrant world.
The characters in Under the Never Sky were all so great. I loved how different they all were - Aria, Perry, Roar, Cinder, Marron, Talon - but at the same time all being great characters. In some books, the distinction between characters are not that obvious, but Rossi did a magnificent job of making each character unique, not just by what they do, but also by how they act. I'm not sure how to describe it, but this is one of my favorite things about the book.
Of course, another one of my favorites from the book is the romance. It was written in such a beautiful way that it really tugged on my heartstrings and made me feel all the feels. I felt so much for the star-crossed lovers, and I rooted for them until the end.
The ending was just AHHH! I don't even have the words for it. It made me want to dive into the next book immediately, and I ached when I couldn't since I had to finish another book first. Guys, this book is such a great read, and you definitely need to check it out if you don't want to miss an amazing book....more
I usually trust Colleen Hoover enough that I don't read her books' synopsis before buying or reading them, and this one is no exception. And just as always, Colleen Hoover didn't disappoint!
I only have to issues with Confess, and the rest of the book is perfection. First, I didn't like how Owen felt like he's the one who has the power or the one who calls the shots. He feels like he owns Auburn, and he tells her that he's the only one who deserves her. I mean, it's kind of true, but that didn't bode well for me because Auburn should be the one calling the shots in that case. Second, I didn't like the cheating. Auburn said so herself that once she makes a commitment, she follows through. But then she cheated on Trey. I get that Owen came first, but it's still cheating no matter the reason.
That said, I still deeply enjoyed Confess, but maybe just a little bit less than her other books. Right from the start, this book made me feel all the feels, with words as well as with the art. The book is short, but I felt like CoHo was able to incorporate so much into the story. There's also a sense of mystery to it, and added with CoHo's beautiful writing style, I just couldn't put the book down!
Gosh, the reveal at the end of the book! I just had to close the book and stare at my ceiling and smile at nothing for a while, imagining things in a chronological sense while everything started clicking into place. Ughhh, just. The feels! I can't wait to read my next CoHo book! I can't wait for November 9!...more

Since tTate and Miles didn't think much of each other when they first met, but after a while, their attraction towards each other becomes undeniable. Since they didn't want feelings to get in the way, they came up with the perfect arrangement - just sex, no strings attached. As time passed though, things get more complicated and feelings get in the way.
I really loved reading Ugly Love! It was heart-clenching and enjoyable, and I read it in one sitting! I actually stayed up until 3:30AM because I just couldn't put it down! The pacing was great, there were a lot of amazing quotes, and the ending was just perfect! I think this may be one of the best New Adult books that I have read yet.
This one is definitely better than Maybe Someday, and I already liked Maybe Someday! Clearly, Colleen Hoover has written yet another masterpiece, and I expect nothing less from her. Despite my high expectations, Colleen Hoover still hasn't let me down, which is why she's one of my favorite authors!...more
If I stay is one of the most unique, crazy, powerful and emotional books that I have ever read!
I read this book for the wrong reasons, but I definit If I stay is one of the most unique, crazy, powerful and emotional books that I have ever read!
I read this book for the wrong reasons, but I definitely don't regret it! I read this one when I heard that Gayle Forman was coming to the Philippines. I figured that her coming here would be a one-time thing, but I didn't really like Just One Day, so I decided to give this one a shot. Because if I were to make her autograph a book, it has to be one that I like, right?
So then I started reading If I Stay. I admit I was skeptical at first because a friend from school warned me that she didn't really like this one, and also because of the bad rating on Goodreads, but I'm incredibly happy that I, being my stubborn self, ignored all those.
Mia, a cellist, drove with her family to her grandparent's house one day when suddenly they got into a car accident. Mia was surprised when she saw herself bleeding in the car, and she wondered if she was already dead. Both her parents were killed immediately, but Teddy was able to make it to the hospital. Mia was then transported to a hospital in Portland because of her grave condition. There, Mia learns that she is the one who controls her own destiny, and she has to make a decision - whether to stay or not.
"If I stay. If I live. It's up to me. I decide. I know this now."
Because this book was told in alternating chapters between the past and the present, I got to know Mia's best friend, Kim, her boyfriend, Adam, and her family.
Mia's parents are both totally awesome! They don't hesitate to used swear words, even if they're around the kids. Yeah, they're just cool and honest like that. They were fun, and seemed more like friends than parents. Teddy was totally adorable too!
Kim, Mia's headstrong best friend was totally admirable! She has strong principles and is not afraid to voice out what she thinks to Mia. She held it together when they visited Mia in the hospital, even though her mother was a sobbing mess.
Adam, Mia's boyfriend, is my favorite character in the whole novel. Adam, who was considerate, understanding, effortful (if there even is such a word), caring, and all that I could ever want in a guy. He saved up two weeks worth of delivery tips so he could take Mia to Yo-Yo Ma's concert for their first date. He warmed Mia's hands even if she didn't ask. I totally loved Adam, and even more when he said what he said at the ending of the book. (Which I won't post because people might say it's a spoiler.)
Reading If I Stay is not only reading about whether Mia would stay or not. It was also reading about love, life, family and friendship. I got into a roller coaster ride with this one, but it was amazing! I don't even know how to find the right words to describe what I felt when reading, and also how amazing this book is! It was just, you know, amazing!
This is definitely one of my favorite 2014 reads! Even though it's just March, I know that it's true because this book had impact. I definitely recommend this to everyone. Not only teens, but literally everyone. Yes, it's that amazing! Go, buy a book now, or else you might regret it later on.

------------
Three years after the accident, and three years since Adam lost contact with Mia. Adam is still grieving, which resulted to bad relationships with his bandmates. But fate intervened, and Adam and Mia saw each other once more and spent the whole night together going through Mia's favorite New York spots.
As they spend the night together, they talk and reminisce, and Adam finally gets the answer to the question that he has been asking for a long time - why did Mia just leave him hanging like that?
Told in Adam's point of view, this book is about Adam and Mia's journey back to each other.
After loving If I Stay so much, I couldn't help but have high expectations of this one. At first I was worried, but those were for nothing because as soon as I finished the first few chapters, it became as amazing as the first book. And this book being told in Adam's point of view is just freaking amazing!
The jumping of this book between past and present makes the readers know Adam more - how his band came to be, his feelings during Mia's stay in the hospital, and how he coped with the break-up - making this book as gripping and heart-wrenching as the first one. That must've been hard, but Gayle Forman pulled it off amazingly.
I don't even know what to say anymore except that this book is amazing, you should read it, and let's fangirl about the upcoming movie of If I Stay together! ...more

But let me tell Reading the synopsis of the book, one may think that To All the Boys I've Loved Before is a shallow about a teenager and her crushed. But let me tell you something - you cannot be more wrong. This book seems fluffy and all about romance, but when you read it, you'll know that it's also about family, friendship, forgiveness, and doing things for others without expecting anything else in return. This is my second time reading the book, but I still love it all the same.
Lara Jean is an amazing main character. She is easily relatable and she seems very realistic to me. She can be innocent and naive at times, but also wise beyond her years at other times. I really loved how Jenny Han wrote this. The pacing is great, the romance is slow-burn and there were lots of amazing quotable quotes as well.
One of my favorite things about this book is the family element. All of them are really close, as opposed to the usual broken families shown in most young adult novels these days. The dad didn't turn to alcohol when the mom died, and Margot, as the elder sister, really stepped up in taking care of the household. The Song sisters were also great in making things as easy as possible for their dad, and I loved them for that.
Another favorite of mine is the slow-burn romance. Fake relationships are a guilty pleasure of mine, and this one nailed it! The feels were present, and I just loved it! I was on team Josh at first, but once that other side of Peter was shown, I transferred to team Peter K. all the way! The cliffhanger in the end made me scream so hard the first time I read this, but now I didn't because I already have the second book!
This book succeeded in being a light read that still teaches us about the realities of life; it's fluffy, but at the same time not a shallow read. This definitely is a must-read, especially for teens. I just wish that there are more books out there like this one....more

I watched the movie first because I didn't know whether or not I would like this this book, and so that served as my little "test". I actually liked the movie, so I went on and read the book. When I finished reading, I was really surprised by the turn of events because the movie and the book is really really different! I'm glad though, because that way, there weren't any spoilers. I'll keep the review short and simple, as I don't really know what to say.
First, you need to know one thing about me: I don't read many fantasy books. I generally prefer contemporary books as they are more realistic and easier to relate to. So, it is rare that I like a fantasy book, much less start reading one. So, when I say that I liked reading Beautiful Creatures, it means that I liked reading Beautiful Creatures. Sometimes, though, I felt like the pacing was too slow, or that Lena was always too pessimistic and other things like that, and that's keeping me from giving this a high rating. But overall, I enjoyed reading Beautiful Creatures, and I would continue on with the next book....more

What I really loved about this book is that their love was past appearances. Most books have the guy being hot, who would make us swoon and all that. And the girl would be really pretty too. I've been looking for this kind of read for a long time already, and I'm really glad that I finally found a book that looks past outer appearances.
I mean, throughout the book, did Lola ever mention Cricket being hot or anything like that? No, right? Plus, he's tall, lanky and an inventor. Sounds like what a nerd would look like. And what about Lola? She wears wigs and costumes everyday. Anyone who doesn't know her would think that's kinda weird or odd. Heck, even someone who knows her might think it's odd!
“Perfect is overrated. Perfect is boring." I smile. "You don't think I'm perfect?" "No. You're delightfully screwy, and I wouldn't have you any other way.”
The love of these two characters weren't about appearances, and that's what love should really be about! I'm tired of all those books having good looking couples and all that cliche. I hope more books are like this book. If anyone knows a book like this, feel free to tell me about it. :)...more
