Removal of station layouts in MRT stations

[edit]

@S5A-0043 Please elaborate on the statement you mentioned, "Platform layouts on station articles are not considered acceptable on the English Wikipedia". It's there in other metro systems like Hong Kong's MTR (Admiralty station (MTR)). Please revert back the previous value and let the station layout reflect in the page so that readers will get to know. 61.12.82.214 (talk) 01:42, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There was a discussion at here in which a consensus was formed that platform layouts should not be used in most cases where the layout is relatively straightforward. This includes the majority of the stations in Singapore, where the majority of the stations have an island platform layout. I consider HK's Admiralty to be a layout which is not "relatively straightforward" due to factors such as the cross-platform interchanges between the Island & Tseung Wan Lines, and the multiple floors the station has. However, some stations such as Cheung Sha Wan station do fall afoul of this consensus as a simple layout, and I would opine that they should be removed. S5A-0043, This is regarding few stations that are elevated. There are underground stations (current and upcoming) which have many floors beneath. So they should be added. 61.12.82.214 (talk) 13:48, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Take Potong Pasir MRT station for example. The station has a concourse floor at B1 and an island platform at B2. I don't see how that constitutes "many floors beneath" (it's only 2 floors), or anything that cannot be described in a simple prose manner. The same applies to pretty much all of the articles in which I've reverted your edit. If you had added it to Marina Bay MRT station for example, I would've considered that acceptable, because of the complex links between each of the lines. @S5A-0043,
So let me know if it is okay for adding to complex stations more than 2 storeys. 61.12.82.214 (talk) 07:10, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can add those if you wish, but (I should've mentioned this earlier, anyways) you also need to cite your sources on the platform layout. Something from the official SMRT/SBST website or LTA would do. Unsourced layout diagrams are equally likely to get removed by others. S5A-0043Talk 09:27, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
