I disagree with making Baton Rouge the strongest association with Swamp Blues; and this blurb, and the Swamp Blues article itself, also indicate that Cajun & Zydeco music come from Baton Rouge. I feel this is incorrect, although I don't have the time to research this right now. Most of this music was recorded in Crowley, St. Martinville, New Iberia, Houma/Thibodeaux, and even New Orleans. Before the federal government built I-10, you wouldn't even travel through Baton Rouge to get from one of these places to another.

I'm glad there's something here, though. I guess my real complaint is it feels like the Swamp Blues article linked from this stub is attempting to position Cajun and Zydeco music further north. I should actually write something there. Trst (talk) 17:31, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Change the Title, remove subjective language!!

[edit]

"plodding?" "dark?" "tense?" Only plodding is remotely directly descriptive of music. Let's change the name of the article to "Blues in Louisiana." Stylistic traits of blues from Louisiana will fit well in such an article and spare Wikipedia readers attempts by writers with a subjective, not very descriptive POV. It will also allow for acknowledgement of numerous blues musicians and singers from Louisiana. They deserve it! Tapered (talk) 07:14, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
