What’s new on VOD this week? I’m so glad you asked. The spy comedy Argylle and the dystopian drama The End We Start From are among the dozens of new movies released this week on demand.
You can also check out the independent comedy Drugstore June, co-written by and starring comedian/actress/podcaster Esther Povitsky, which is also available on demand after a brief theatrical run. In the film, Povitsky stars as June, a young woman who just wants to be an influencer, but finds herself taking up as a detective when a drugstore in her town is robbed. Initially insufferable and annoying, June experiences some personal growth as she embarks on a journey to solve her small-town crime.
These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Argylle
In Matthew Vaughn’s star-studded action comedy Argylle, Bryce Dallas Howard stars as Elly Conway, an author whose latest spy novel starts to mirror the inner workings of a real-life spy syndicate. As a result, Conway (and her cat, Alfie) gets pulled into a dangerous, deadly web of espionage. With a cast that includes Dua Lipa, John Cena, Henry Cavill, and Sam Rockwell, the film is a larger-than-life action-adventure full of slapsticky fun.
The End We Start From
Based on the novel of the same name by Megan Hunter, The End We Start From is a dystopian survival film about a young mother, played by Jodie Comer, who are displaced from their home after catastrophic flooding forces them to relocate. As food becomes scarce, violence erupts, and she has to fend for herself in order to survive. Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Fry, and Katherine Waterston co-star.
