‘Song Of Back And Neck’
Imagine an alternate universe in which Toby isn’t Dunder Mifflin’s punching bag — instead, he’s the punching bag at his father’s law firm. That’s the basic premise of Song of Back and Neck, a romantic comedy about Fred (Paul Lieberstein), a nice guy who spends his days overcome by crippling back and neck pain. Fred’s co-workers don’t take him seriously, but that all changes when Regan (Rosemarie DeWitt) walks into the firm looking for a divorce lawyer. Regan and Fred quickly form a friendship, and she convinces him to see an acupuncturist, who discovers that Fred’s back is so messed up that his nerves are singing — literally. With the help of a great supporting cast that includes Brian D’Arcy James, Clark Duke, and even Paul Feig, Song of Back and Neck hits all the classic rom-com notes in a quirky, original way.
