‘No Direction Home’
Did you know that Bob Dylan just recently scored the first #1 song in his entire 50+ year career? Few entertainers of this or any era have enjoyed as many “comebacks” as Dylan, and Martin Scorsese’s 2005 documentary film No Direction Home will help you understand the drive and talent that’s made him one of the most influential musicians that’s ever lived. This film, made with the participation of Dylan himself, focuses primarily on Dylan’s early life and ascent into superstardom; the Coen Brothers were so enraptured with the stories of Greenwich Village in the early ’60s that they wrote a whole movie (Inside Llewyn Davis) based on the colorful characters that populated the folk music scene. It’s nothing short of a towering cinematic achievement.
