‘Life’
Before Damian Lewis was making bank in Billions and shifting his alliances on Homeland, he was Life‘s Charlie Crews, a detective who served 12 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Crews’ wrongful conviction earns him a boatload of cash from the city of Los Angeles, but instead of going into early retirement, he returns to his job at the LAPD and begins solving homicides with a new partner, Dani Reese (Sarah Shahi). Each episode, Crews and Reese are tasked with solving a heinous murder, but in his free time, he pursues a much larger investigation: one that aims to uncover the truth about his conviction. Life only lasted for two seasons on NBC, but in that short amount of time, it managed to weave a complicated, addictive mystery that makes for a perfect binge-watch.
