‘Legend Of The Drunken Master’
Jackie Chan’s breakthrough into the American mainstream came in 1995 with the release of Rumble In The Bronx, but his popularity soared into the stratosphere thanks to 1998’s Rush Hour. He was so popular that Bob Weinstein’s Dimension Films acquired the rights to Chan’s 1994 film Drunken Master II, retitled it The Legend Of Drunken Master, and released it in theaters in the year 2000 to massive financial success (even though viewers could have easily watched it on DVD or VHS at home). The film, which just hit Netflix, is one of the best hybrids of action and comedy you’ll ever see, showcasing Chan at the height of his martial arts prowess.
