‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’
Raiders might have the most impressive scene, and Temple Of Doom the most nightmare-inducing moment, but for my money, The Last Crusade is the best of the four Indiana Jones pictures to date. (We can all agree never to speak of “nuking the fridge” again, right?) It’s got all of the staples of the franchise — scintillating setpieces, nasty Nazis, and exotic locales aplenty — but ups the ante with the inclusion of River Phoenix as the young Indiana Jones (a rousing curtain-raiser that hits even harder once you’ve seen The Fabelmans) and Sean Connery as Indy’s debonair father, Henry Jones Sr. Only the penitent man shall pass!
