‘Hold The Dark’
Director Jeremy Saulnier has a real penchant for depicting visceral violence on-screen. His first film, Blue Ruin, contains one of the more graphic stabbing scenes you’ll ever watch, and his follow-up, Green Room, didn’t shy away from the bloody stuff, either. His latest, the Netflix Original Hold The Dark, ups the ante significantly with a mid-movie gun battle that Decider’s own Joe Reid proclaimed to be an “all-timer.” Overall, the film is a bit hit-or-miss —I’d say closer to miss— but stick around for the gun battle and some truly gorgeous scenes of the Alaskan wilderness.
