‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen’
Summertime often brings family road trips (and my sister’s birthday, which is today if you were wondering!), and I am reminded of the one movie we could never get enough of that we would often watch from the back seat of our parents’ car. Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen is one of the most iconic DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movies, of course) in my humble opinion and is streaming on Disney+. The movie follows high schooler Lola Steppe (Lindsay Lohan) as she moves from NYC to suburban New Jersey. With visions of Broadway stardom dancing in her head, she lands the lead for the school musical, a rock rendition of Pygmalion entitled “Eliza Rocks,” much to the dismay of the school’s resident popular girl, Carla Santini (Megan Fox). For a children’s film, the soundtrack is surprisingly good, including Lohan’s take on David Bowie’s 1971 “Changes.”
