‘Beverly Hills Cop’
Eddie Murphy is always a delight to watch onscreen, between his infectious smile and his stellar delivery, and he brings that signature charm in a big way to the 1984 classic Beverly Hills Cop. Murphy stars as Axel Foley, a police detective on “vacation” in Los Angeles who has a hidden motive: while he’s supposedly taking time off from his job in Detroit, he’s really investigating the death of his friend. Axel works to get to the bottom of the murder case — with the help of an impeccable Pointer Sisters and Patti LaBelle soundtrack, we have to mention — but manages to sneak in plenty of fun along the way.
