Dr. Neal W. Pollock is a Research Director at Divers Alert Network (DAN) [1] and a Research Associate in the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology at Duke University Medical Center, both in Durham, North Carolina.

His academic training is in zoology, exercise physiology and environmental physiology. His research interests focus on human health and safety in extreme environments. He is actively involved in projects of flying after diving, breath-hold safety, astronaut decompression and ultrasonic assessment of decompression-induced bubbles. His field research activity includes six seasons of Antarctic diving.[2]

Neal is the Chairman of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences Foundation [3] and serves on editorial boards of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine and Wilderness and Environmental Medicine. He has served as a reviewer for 12 peer-reviewed journals.
